  1. I agree Mark, it seems to be a lovely kit and Airfix should be congratulated for producing it at an affordable price. The minor niggles can be overcome as you have demonstrated.
  2. Cheers guys, not done a lot today mangaged to get some white gloss on the undercarriage bays, primed all the cockpit parts and I hope to get some paint on those bits tomorrow.
  3. Good job Paul, that has gone together well and really quickly. Looking forward to your next one.
  4. That is a good neat start Neal, don't rush it and you will end up with a good result.
  5. Coming along nicely John. When I start my PR.9 I think that I might be coming to you for some tips.
  6. It looks fantastic Mark, the detail you have managed to cram into the cockpit is great and not an after-market part in sight. I should really have a go at adding more from scratch, it could save me a few bob. Brilliant, well done.
  7. So , the work on the undercarriage bays continues apace. I realised today that I would also have to modify the intake area to allow the main undercarriage bays to fit. I removed the bulk of the material with a mini drill and a small mill then I had to clean up the rest with a scalpel and some files. The photos below show one side before modification and the other side before the final clean up. I also made a start on some of the cockpit parts. I first removed the coaming then added the kit spine extension and the area behind the seat from the resin set. Then it was on with a dry fit of the cockpit and seat. Hope to get primer and paint on some of the resin tomorrow and then I can carry on with a final fit and close the fuselage halves up.
  8. Phil I have tried your technique of drawing camouflage pattern on in pencil but after brushing on the colour I've still been able see the pencil marks. Do you have this problem or is it just that I am not putting enough coats on the marked areas? This was probably one of the reasons I switched to airbrushing but it would be useful for my 1/144th builds that have camo schemes.
  9. Cheers Les. Should be back on with this tomorrow, I've had to indulge my other passion over last couple of days - setting up a new tropical tank for my first Aquascape.
  10. Nice work Paul, the wings look great. I have the Airframe set for the Hasegawa kit but you have to remove the wingtips from the kit to complete them. I will be watching your build for tips If you do decide to mod your next set yourself.
  11. Another superb model with a fabulous paint job and wonderfully photographed.
  12. You could try this link for photo editing software, it will probably do some of the simpler things you need to and best of all it's free. http://getgimp.com/lp/index.php?pk=4769
  13. Cheers bud, just hope that I can get everything lined up properly when I add the bays. I think that I may have to do a bit more lower half assembly before I put them in then temporarily add the u/c legs to check it all.
  14. Looks good Les hopefully the aftermarket will be with you soon.
  15. That's a wee bit warped Tony but I'm sure the warm bath will sort it out.
  16. Very nice. I like the base you have displayed it on.
  17. Looks good Phil and the finish you have acheived on the first camo colour is brilliant.
  18. Nice work John the cockpit details look great and as Rob and Will say you know that it is in there plus you get the added bonus of having all the fun doing it.
  19. OK off we go then, I don't think that I have put this much resin into a kit before. I made a start on the lower fuselage by removing the undercarriage bays. I wasn't sure how I was going to do this but decided in the end to chain drill and then join the dots as it were ........ ........ and after some clean up this is where I am up to. However, this wasn't without it's problems, a bit of over zealous work with a mini drill led to me blowing through the fuselage side in a couple of places. I also noticed that the Aries nosebay replacement is a little shorter than the kit bay. So bit more work on the fit of the nosebay and then on with the upper fuselage changes to accomodate the cockpit. I hope that is a bit easier to fit.
  20. Looking good. Sorry to read about the engine difficulties but it does look like a great unit.
  21. Great choice and nice photo's, going to enjoy watching your build.
