  1. That's a cracking result John, she looks brilliant. Well done buddy.
  2. Great photo Shaun, enough variations to go at there.
  3. As per other comments, those intakes look fantastic Dave, great job.
  4. Tell me about it Pete, it's no different in 1/72nd scale. Mine are paper thin and I am still going to have problems with fitting the top and bottom halves together. Your cockpit tub is looking really good plenty of detail in there.
  5. I like your solution for the intakes, I think that I will adopt your method for what is a weak area on my kit.
  6. Spent time doing a few bits and pieces before I have to complete the fuselage join. I have added some plastic strips to hide the join between resin cockpit tub and the kit part, this will become part of the canopy rail. and another test fit of the cockpit tub Then on with the removal of more kit plastic to accommodate the resin wings. It requires more work to fill in the gaps and I will have to add the detail which is seen in the photos of F-18's to this area. I also cut the wings from their casting blocks but they are going to need a bath in some hot water to straighten them out. Then it was on with some work to deflect the rudders. Every-time I think that I am almost ready to complete the fuselage join I find that I want to do something else to help with things later in the build, c'est la vie.
  7. Isn't it great when you can get a production line going Dazz. You can just get into the swing of things and before you know it you have 4 of the little blighters assembled. Mmmm an assembly line, now there's an idea for a diorama. Keep up the good work.
  8. Great work on the FOD covers Neal, progressing well.
  9. Cheers guys, just been tinkering about with the cockpit since the last update and today I cut the resin wings from their casting blocks. Boy are they out of shape, so plenty of hot water and some gentle persuasion is the order of the day. I will post some more photos of progress soon.
  10. Fantastic work on the camouflage especially when you consider that it is done with a brush. Great result.
  11. As stated above these are LERX and having checked Danny Coremans book on the Hornet, for the 18D are fitted roughly in the position shown below. They should be in the same position on each side but my freehand drawing skills with a mouse leave a lot to be desired. I would check your kit instructions to see if you needed to open any holes to allow you to fit them at this position. I hope that you don't mind me editing a copy of your photo to illustrate the positioning. I will get some dimensions of the plans in the back of the book and try and get them to you tomorrow.
  12. Paul, they a cracking photographs, I particularly like the Hunter and Tucano shots. Thanks for sharing them.
  13. Great model and all done in 3 day's. I'm just hoping that I can finish a 1/72nd model in 3 months.
  14. That's looking great now John. It has really come along since I last checked in on your progress.
  15. You could also try Xtracrylix XA1126 (FS15237) and XA1136 (FS16375), these are gloss finish so are supposed to be decal ready. You would then need to add a matt coat to obtain match for FS35237and FS36375
  16. That looks good Neal and the work around the wing fold area is really neat.
  17. Les just knocked this up, not very generic but hope it will do. It may need resizing.
  18. That is a cracking model of XV254, I remember doing the MOD 3000 production plan for this aircraft.
  19. Excellent news, that will also please SWMBO no end as she is a member of the VTTSC.
  20. That is a stunning model. I have always liked the way the Crusader sits and yours looks spot on. Great work.
  21. Managed to do a bit more work on the lower fuselage this morning, I plugged the holes for the centre-line tank with some stretched sprue. The photos of this aircraft show it as not fitted. I also made a start on repairing the damage to the side........... ...... and added a box to house the searchlight, then used a Little Cars lens for the light.
