Oh, these afterburner cans... fantastic. My hat's off, Bosse. -

Yup, really 'clean & tidy' work here. Everything precisely in position, and simply 'cool'. -

Another 'little stunner' here (I like it more than I can actually say). -
Wow, wow, wow... If there is anything I like about modells painted with airbrush, then 'perfect borders'. 'Soft', but 'not too much'. Precisely like here.

Oh, pity: I was very much looking forward for this one. You've got another viewer for the WIP section, of course. -

Well-done, Enzo! (I'm only sorry I was not the first to click 'like' ) -
MI-24 Hind D Afghan Air Force - FINISHED

Well, guess you know how it is: not everybody is welcoming an advice (no matter how well-meant this might be)... Anyway, your paintwork is excellent (indeed, application of what was a standardized camo pattern applied on dozens of exported Mi-25s is amazingly accurate), and you enjoy the build so much... what else can one ask for? -

In essence, all you need to complete it now are... keys? ;-) -

Ups... clicked on 'post' before intending to do so. It's actually my fault: I failed to observe this on time (I'm often too shy to 'interrupt' threads like this one). FS30219.... is very good for Soviet Hinds (especially if properly weathered). Sadly, it's too dark for Afghan Mi-25/35 - if we're talking about the 1980s and 1990s: -

Special thanks for your understanding and responsiveness, Mish; after all, we're on Britmodeller forum. ;-) Seriously now: you really have a hand for airbrushing. Excellent borders here. -

The camo pattern is excellent; I'm only affraid that your 'yellow' is slightly 'too brown'. In essence, this should be the same like on Iraqi and Mi-25/35s exported to few other countries. Any chance to take some photos in broad daylight? -
Dominican Republic EMB-314 Super Tucano

I like the lines of Super Tucano.... and that mix of 'light but packing punch' too. Very nice work. -

I do not like F-16s (nothing personal, rather 'everybody's flying them', so 'boring'), but this one does looks good - and much better than expected. -
They're resembling different types, indeed: - Advanced modelling: FAB-250M-54 (high-pressure bomb casings, made for supersonic aircraft) - Trumpeter: FAB-250M-46 (low-pressure bomb casings, made for subsonic aircraft) - Eduard: FAB-50 (from M-54 series) - Eduard: 'modern' FAB-250.... you mean something like FAB-250M-62? Sorry, not really. Front part looks like taken from napalm tanks of the ZAB-series. Rear part is uncrecognizable. But, FAB-250M-62s were still very rare as of 1973, and if at all, 'reserved' for Su-7s (it's possible that some were deployed by Egyptian Su-17s and/or Syrian Su-20s too, but I haven't found any participant recalling this). The only of these used on EAF MiG-17 were FAB-250M-46 and FAB-50s. Colour was either that 'rather dirty', 'light blue-green', for Soviet-manufactured modells; or dark green - for examples manufactured in Egypt (under designations like Kaakaa-50 and Kaakaa-250; BTW, Egyptians developed a variant of the Kaakaa-250 with retarding fins similar to those of the Mk.12 Snakeye system).

Serial 185 is 'OK' - for one of latter batches. The SyAAF has got enough L-29s to serial them as high. What I found 'strange was that the first batch was serialled 101-110 and the second 131-140, instead, for example, 111-120. And yes: a serial on the top of the fin is a 'must' for any SyAAF aircraft, no matter the type, already since 1948.

One thing that's striking me here is this: next year (2016), is 60th anniversary of the Suez Crisis/War of 1956. Wouldn't it be a 'gem' for Airfix to put out a MiG-15bis in contemporary Egyptian markings? If nothing else, as 'bad guys' from that conflict...

Colombian Kfir
Tom Cooper replied to Enzo the Magnificent's topic in Lesser Built Air-Forces Group Build
It's not only the roundels: if he adds various other details in their original colours, this aircraft is going to look like a christmas tree... One is left to wonder why did they try to camouflage them at all? ;-) Anyway, and seriously now: Enzo, like in the case of Giorgio's work on Ecuadorian Kfir, I'm missing: - VOR/loc 'wings' (i.e. antennas) below the top of the fin (usually painted in white), applied on either side of the fin; - RWR housing right behind these antennas, i.e. at the rear edge of the fin. You intend to add them later on? -
Peruvian Hawker Hunter F.52
Tom Cooper replied to Col.'s topic in Lesser Built Air-Forces Group Build
Wonderful. I like the idea with semi-retracted gear very much. ...reminds me I'm meanwhile four days late with delivery of corrected unit emblem. So... well, better I shut up and get back to drawing it. ;-) -
So, after ranting about your self-critique... There are 3-4 other details I'm missing (though you might have decided to add at a later stage): - VOR/loc 'wings' (i.e. antennas) below the top of the fin (usually painted in white), applied on either side of the fin; - RWR housing right behind these antennas, i.e. at the rear edge of the fin. - IFF antenna on the spin (small, black, trapezoidal shape, positioned there on FAE's Kfir C.2s). - UHF/Tacan and 2 other antennas below the nose. Guess that all of these could be solved with some 0.5-1,5mm plastic sheet (cut in proper forms, of course)?

Erm... I'll offer an apology in advance this time, but.... I've drawn at least two artworks of this Kfir C.2 over the last 10 years. Especially the latter was as precise as it could get. ...and after that 'experience', I still needed repeated re-viewing of my artwork, about a dozen of original photos, plus 10 minutes of thinking about what are you talking about - in order to realize that you seem to think that the kill marking is something like 2.4mm 'too far to the rear'... Giorgio: I dare reminding you this is a 1/72 model. It's already a small wonder what kind of results you've achieved by additional details around the nose, not to talk about precision of your application of camo pattern (for this scale!)... So, please: stop being too critical of your work and let us all 'simply enjoy it'.

Oh wow... great paintwork! -
I'll definitely check with Ugo about the reference for that artwork - even more so since it's dated with the year 1970. That was not only around the time (camouflaged) Hunters served with the RSAF too, but also the times when it was still facing a war in Yemen. ...and well ahead of times any of RSAF Lightnings served as gate guardians... ;-)

Don't get me wrong, please: this is now making me extremely curious...(and I plead guilty for already being an extremely curious person). As delivered (starting in March 1964), SyAAF L-29s have got roundels (on wings only), in red-white-black, with three green stars on the white field. I simply never saw any wearing roundels on the fuselage... and then without any stars... that would mean these were applied after 1972...but why...? BTW, Martin Smisek, my Czech chap co-working on Arab MiGs project, has dug out original Czechoslovak documentation on Syrian L-29s, including c/ns, dates of delivery etc. In the case of the first 20 aircraft, he's got even their serials (and then those matching c/ns) plus something like 'status report' for their first year of service. This is where the next thing 'surprising' about your work on this model comes to my mind. The first batch was serialled 101-110, and the second 131-140. No clue about the reason. 'But', you're now building 130... Is that based on one of photos you're talking about?
