  1. Hi There, don't forget my all time favorite, the DHC-2 Beaver, which the Airfix kit comes up for sale on Ebay on a regular basis. Hobbycraft also do it but I don't like the clear plastic fuselage! And on a slightly odd scale, Frog did it in 1/80th scale! You can't have enough Beavers. So we must include the Turbo Beaver from Lift Here. 1/72 scale on amphib floats and expected out in the second half of 2014. And whilst in Canada, didn't Matchbox do the Norseman on floats?
  2. God Morning, I'm looking to re-create a scene from my past, which involves several examples of my favorite aircraft ever built, the DHC-2 Beaver. Over the last year or two, I've been buying up a healthy stock of the Airfix Beaver but next I need to source a few 1/72 scale, 1970's/1980's US pickup trucks. The pickups have a starring role in the diorama, as the the scene is one of a float plane base where the Beavers are literally picked up by the pickup truck! These vehicles are much modified in that the standard cab it turned around and sits on a much lengthened chassis. The chassis includes a hydraulic lifting platform which allows the Beaver to be supported under the float cross members and it then driven down to the water. So can any of our members provide me with a source? They can be plastic, resin, diecast, anything will do if it looks something like. Regards Reggie The Cameraman
  3. Hi Guys n Gals, I haven't seen this documentary since it was originally broadcast and watching it today's taken me back years! I remember every single thing about program and it's been a real treat to re-watch it. Over the years I've asked many friends if they'd seen it and they hadn't, well now they can. Thanks again for posting it. Regards Reggie AKA The Cameraman
  4. Hi Kev, I 100% agree with you. If I tell you that I contacted Hendon to ensure that I could photograph the Sunderland and agreed a date. Booked the time off work (mid-week) and telephoned them the day before and was told all OK. I then rode the 250 mile trip there to be told I couldn't photograph it as there was a private party taking place. I explained my booking, showed them the email confirmation and was told it was tough! Hendon **** the place. Now then go to Cosford and see the difference. I arrived on a standard mid week day and fancied some 'arty' type shots, one in particular with the stainless steel research aircraft. The security chaps had seen me loaded with motorcycle gear and camera kit. One came over to me and said they didn't have a cloakroom area but offered to put my bike kit in a secure location. Most kind of him. Then, when I was trying to shoot the 188 he allowed me access inside the 'fenced in' area. What a difference in attitude. Pleasant, helpful and knew their stuff Since then I've returned many times to Cosford, spent plenty of dosh in their shop and given donations to them. How many times have I been back to Hendon, well I don't really need to answer that now do I! Regards Reggie
  5. Hi Joseph, here's a link to the previous event's website. www.fermanaghseaplanefestival.com/Logistics.aspx Hopefully, if all goes according to plan, they're hoping to hold the event in 2013. Regards The Cameraman
  6. Total twaddle I'm afraid to say. The aircraft used in the Wicker Man was a Schweizer Teal TSC-1A1, G-AXZN, usually reported as a Thurston Teal. The Seabee's a cracking piece of kit. I've been fortunate enough to fly in a Twin Seabee at the Fermanagh Seaplane Festival, thanks to the Swiss owner. Regards The Cameraman
  7. Hi Carl, sorry to hear of your flood misfortune. Property can always be repaired, it's the people that can't. Let's hope you can back to normality (whatever that is) soon. Regards Reggie
  8. Hi Guys n Gals, looks like the local Rozzers have been performing a search pattern. The rain stopped and a little bit of sunlight was seen, for a few minutes!
  9. Hi Carl, PM on it's way to you. Speed is not of importance, just whenever you get around to finding it is good for me. Thank you kindly.
  10. Hi Brad, she's a real beauty. Do you have any more shots?
  11. Hi Remy, magnificent. You should do a master class, to show your skills in the art of creating realistic water. Your's looks perfect. Regards Reggie
  12. Hi p-26luvr, if you decide not to build the DHC-2 Beaver from the kit, could I buy it from you? I've been looking everywhere to get my hands on that little beastie, for my Beaver collection. Fabulous work by the way. Regards Reggie
  13. Hi Iain, in my book the only thing that better's a Cub is a Super Cub and the only thing that betters a Super Cub is a Beaver! Thanks for posting.
  14. Hi Guys n Gals, of course there's my all time favorite aircraft, the fabulous DHC-2 Beaver, which continues to give sterling work around the World. With a bit of work with the location of the instrument panel, the Airfix kit produces a very smart rendition of this fine machine. I'd love for Airfix to return it to production.
  15. Mornin', thanks for the valuable replies. As for flying the 1/200 scale, well I know I'm only little but it'll teach me to type before I've had a coffee. Regards Reggie
  16. Hi Guys n Gals, so has anyone got any suggestions then? Regards Reggie
  17. Hi Guys n Gals, for me it was the sounds that will last in my memories. Standing in Hamsterley Forest, hearing the wailing sound of the oncoming Lancia Stratos. Being at the 1982 Manx Rally with Ari Vatanen in the evil Black Escort! Again at the same Manx Rally, my first sight & sound of the superb LYV4X! The only car registration (apart from my own that I've ever remembered) and one that's been etched permanently into my mind, that Audi was something else. Along with Bertie Fisher really giving it stick! Tony Pond on the 1st stage of the 1984 RAC at Knowlsley Safari Park, crashing into the tree only 50 yards away from us. Tony Pond on the Autofit Stages in the Metro 6R4! You could hear it for miles! So many magical memories Regards Reggie
  18. Hi Richellis, 'chopped one up!', is there nothing sacred? Looking forward to your piccies. Regards Reggie
  19. Hi Scarlet, thanks for the reply. Any kits that are better than others?
  20. Hi Guys n Gals, I've recently returned to modeling (after a break of 36 years) and have been building up my stash of DHC-2 Beavers, ready for when my skills do them justice. Thank God for Ebay. Along the way I've purchased a couple of mega cheap kits, to practise on, like a couple of Chipmunks etc but yesterday I saw something that I'd have loved to have made as a young 'un, in the shape of a Revell Audi Quattro Rally car. This happens to be my all time favourite car ever built, closely followed by Fords awesome Mk1 & Mk2 Escorts. So do any of our members have any tips or pointers when building this kit, for someone who's been out of the loop forever and has never built a car kit? I'd like to fit LED spots etc and create a night time rally stage, diorama (long term goal), so any thoughts, comments, would be most appreciated. Also can you direct me towards a 1/24th scale Mk1 or Mk2 Escort Rally car, such as the Mexico/RS1800 that does the car justice? Regards Reggie
  21. Hi Mark, I shall be following this thread with much interest. A mate of mine (who currently flies for the North West Air Ambulance) and I were chatting about Sea Kings on Sunday. He's ex RN and described the Sea King as a magnificent 10 tonne aircraft, with the engines for a 5 tonne aircraft! Regards Reggie
