  1. Hi Ian, very nice, a second best to the Beavers though! Regards Reggie
  2. Hi Ian, you don't have any more shots of the pickup truck used to move the Beavers about do you? I'm aiming to build a couple in 1/72 scale so any details that you may have would be fabulous! Regards Reggie
  3. Hi Seadog, the only 1/48th option is the Hobbycraft kit. I just don't like the clear plastic that they use, so I sold mine on and have been buying up Airfix 1/72 scale Beavers eversince. OK I admit it, I'm a Beaverholic! I have about 35 Aifrix, 1 Miniwings (1/144), 2 pre production white metal kits (1/200) and the promise of a 1/350 kit from the Japanese ship Soya, when a mate can dig his kit out of the loft! As for decals, well I've got 16 aftermarket sets, and I'm always on the lookout for more! Regards Reggie
  4. Hi Upnorth, cheers matey, I shall investigate further. Regards Reggie
  5. Hi Paul. great stuff. I was fortunate enough to take a Beaver to Sproat Lake and was given unrestricted access to both of the Martins! As you can imagine I clicked away but that was in the days of film! I must get myself a scanner oner day and share some of my shots. Regards
  6. Hi Paul, keep 'em coming matey. If it get's it's belly wet then it's good enough for me, and if it's a beaver, then all the better! Regards Reggie
  7. Hi Upnorth, any Idea where she's based, as it would be worth me travelling over to see that beauty and it's one of the European one's I've yet to shoot? Regards Reggie
  8. Hi Chris, what a shame eh! That's not playing the game now is it? Regards Reggie
  9. Hi Guys, greatest aircraft ever built, in my humble opinion! I've had quite a few pleasant hours at the controls of them. Do you have any more to show us? Regards Reggie
  10. Hello Again, a bit of further info for you. The blade's designation is as follows; 10152-5.5 = 101 standard diameter but this is the shortened type, which is indicated by the -5.5, so the actual diameter is 95.5inches. The same prop is also used on the Lockheed Model 12A, the Grumman Ag Cat and the Weatherly 620! Some Twin Beeches were also fitted but most had the Hamilton Standfard's fitted. Hope this helps and if you do find an aftermarket supplier for the props in 1/72 scale then please let us know as I need about a dozen for my Beaver builds! Regards Reggie
  11. Hi There, well if this is of any help, the Kenmore upgrade uses the following Hartzell parts, Hub - HC-B3R30-4 Blades - R10152-5 1/2 Spinner - 836-32R (oprtional) Reagrds Reggie
  12. Hi Guys n Gals, just to let you know, I've received the 1/72 scale chevy pickupd from PJProductions and they are superb little models. My first ever viewing of resin kits! Regards Reggie
  13. Hi There, that's a better finished product than my own work! Regards Reggie
  14. Good Morning Guys n Gals, I wonder if any of our members could help with some images/advice? A few years ago I was fortunate enough to get some hours flying DHC-2 Beavers (on floats), in North America and Canada. Sadly I'm no longer able to fly such beasts, so I've decided to try to re-create some of my flying history, into 1/72 scale models. So why am I raising this thread in the vehicle discussion area I hear you ask? Well here's the fun bit. I did some flying from Vancouver, where we had a fabulous pick up truck that had been much modified for it's use to transport Beaver's from and to the water. The easy way to describe it would be if you took a standard 1970's -1980's US pick up truck, sliced off the whole rear of the vehicle (from behind the back of the cab), including all the body, chassis, wheels and everything, leaving you with the cab, engine and front wheels but nothing at the back. Then to extend the chassis from the front of the truck with small wheels right at the far end and add a hydraulic lift on to it. This meant that you would sit in the cab tooking forward over the frame and ramp, so you could drive the contraption under the float supports of the beaver. You could then raise the ramp enough to take the weight of the aircarft and you could then reverse away and then park the Beaver wherever you wanted! Fabulous piece of kit when you didn't have amphibious floats and looked like somethijng from Thunderbirds (OK I'm showing my age here). Anyway I've built up a fantastic collection of Airfix Beaver kits for my stash and once I've learned the building skills required (on cheap kits), I'll start with the beavers. My aim (which will take years to create) is to build a small diorama of part of the location, including ramp, jetty, aircraft and this fabulous pick up vehicle. I managed to find a 1/72 scale US pick up truck made by PJ Productions, which is a resin kit, so I've ordered a pair of them to see if they could be modified for this task and I'm sure they'll be fine. So my questions are, 1, does anyone have any close up shots of these weird pick ups that they could kindly post here, or forward to me? 2, even better, would anyone know who built 'em or have access to any original plans? 3, has anyone tried to recreate such work in 1/72 scale? 4, any pointers for resin work, as I've only just started working in palstic, so I'm on a massive learning curve? So thank you in advance for any help that the members can offer. Regards Reggie AKA The Cameraman
  15. Hi Guys n Gals, my all time fave scheme for the Caravelle was Sterlings, lovely. Regards Reggie
  16. Hi There, well we'll have a great time, irrespective of no special events taking place. There'll be four of us, no women to keep us under control, so we'll be on the loose! Regards Reggie
  17. H There, don't suppose anything's happening on the Monday is there, as I'm bringing a visitor from the USA to visit the museum on the Monday and we can't get there on the Sunday! Regards Reggie
  18. Hi Paul, always nice to see a magnificent Beaver in a collection. When you're doing your re-build, please let me know if you're short of any parts, as I have a massive collection of Airfix Beaver kits that I can raid for you. Most of mine are planned to be finished on floats, so I have wheels etc available, just tell me what you want in a PM and I'll send 'em to you in the post. I've also sent some walkround Beaver shots, to be added to the resource details, so they should be added to the site pretty soon and may help you. Keep 'em coming, I love 1/72nd scale civvy stuff! Regards Reggie
  19. Hi Paul, you've done a fine job with a dodgy kit, of a magnificent subject matter! My all time favorite aircraft. One day my results will be as good as yours but it'll be a long time away! Reagrds Reggie
  20. Hi Russ, you've done a great job there. I've never been happy with the clear fuselage kits from Hobbycraft, the plastic is just too brittle. Regards Reggie
  21. Good Morning, I'm sipping at a cup of tea, chomping into marmalade on toast, watching the Malaysian F1 race and viewing the completed models on Britmodeller. Basically a fine way to start a Sunday morning, to find this magnificent beast of a VC10. My all time favourite Jetliner, in my all time favourite colour scheme! The weather may be nasty outside but I'm got a nice warm feeling just looking at this. Fine work. Regards Reggie
  22. Hi Guys n Gals, Just seen a very nice Testors Learjet at the model shop on Deansgate, Manchester. I think it was priced at £15.00. And thanks Radleigh for confirmation of the Norseman. Regards Reggie
  23. Hi T7 Models, I've so far got 30 Airfix Beavers in my stash! OK I admit it, I'm a sad case!
