The Italian Job diorama!
The Cameraman replied to The Cameraman's topic in Work In Progress - Vehicles
Hi Guys n Gals, whilst waiting for the Revell bits, I've decided to build each car separately, rather than a production line. I reckon the last car will then be the best of the three! I've started by removing some of the parts from the frames by using a pair of Trumpeter snips. My goodness do they give a clean cut or what! Then I've started to polish out some of the molding lines on the larger body parts etc. Then I'll get an idea of how the parts will fit. No photo's yet and there's nothing to show. Regards Reggie -

Hi Guys n Gals, this is getting bloody expensive now! I found my eyesight prescription had changed a little, most noticed on close up work, so a new pair was bought from Specsavers. But because I'm as blind as a bat, I needed to try out my very first pair of varifocals, which give me a close up range to around arms length. So that was £145.00. Next I found I needed a magnifier and desk lamp, so I combined the two and got one from my mates at Maplin's who, unusually for me, had them on offer at £25.00 just when I wanted one. At least i can drill away to my hearts content with the spot and headlamps, pending the delivery of the final parts. Next I need to buy some small square files, to allow a good fit of the SMD's, so I'll take a look around to see what's out there. Regards Reggie -

Mini 'Superleggera' Vision.... Concept Car
The Cameraman replied to Séan Pádraig's topic in Vehicle Discussion
Hi Sean, until today I would have said that the only Mini's a like were; 1, Original Mini saloon, van, estate and my own favourite the pick up. 2, BMW Mini original & convertible. Don't like the others and reckon the later larger Mini's should be called Maxi's! However this concept car,in this form, is a thing of beauty. If they were priced right, with great performance, they'd sell loads of 'em. Regards Reggie -

Hi Guys n Gals, the red SMD's have just arrived from China, so that's the tail lights covered. I had to chuckle when I noticed the address on the parcel which showed; Ding Dong Feng, Wanhonglu, especially when I pronounced the latter element as One Hung Low (OK I'm always have a child like sense of humour)! Just waiting for some extra parts from Revell and then it'll be full steam ahead. Regards Reggie -

Hi Chaps, Some cracking information there. As for the wiring, I was hoping the have the cars securely mounted to the tube and for the feed to go through the tires and wheels! Regards Reggie -
Nice work so far. It's a lovely kit isn't it. Regards Reggie

Morning Guys n Gals, now a bit of advise is needed concerning the use of the SMD's. There'll be three cars in the diorama (as you could probably guess), each one will have 7 SMD's (2 headlamps, 3 spot lamps & 2 tail lights). The SMD's I've got are L0805R (RED) and L0805W (WHITE). The cars will be placed inside a 5 inch tube (to represent the sewer pipe), which will be split for access. A thought I had would be to add a handle, and push on end caps, to aid transport (see plenty of brain matter's being used) and got to thinking about the power source. I was hoping to power the display by the use of a single battery and reckon that a small, 12 volt motorcycle battery would be ideal (being a biker these are to hand). So those experienced in such matters, could you please chip in and pass on your wisdom/suggestions/recommendations etc? Regards Reggie -

Morning Guys n Gals, well after the success of the white SMD's, to provide light from the headlamps and spotlamps, I've decided to use red versions to provide tail light illumination. I went back to Ebay and was pleased to find that the supplier of the whites, can also do them in red, so that's another order placed. So for those with experience of SMD's, could you please advise what would be the best medium to use to secure them into the models lamp assembly? I was thinking of a thick type of super glue, or even some apoxy resin, what do you guys suggest? Regards Reggie -

Hi Andrew, I was trying to remember where the line up of hovering Harriers were. All I can remember was being deafened by the experience and my hearing was affected for days afterwards! Regards Reggie -
Hi Colin, I've written to the museum, so let's see what happens next! I took a look at their website and find there's no limitation to the use of tripods! Muppets eh! I wish their staff had the attitude, flexibility and and understanding that the staff at Cosford have shown to me in the past! Good point about the Winchester! Regards Reggie

Good Morning, on Saturday I had a chance to make a brief visit to the Manchester Art Gallery, so I ensured I had my trusty camera with me. On arrival I asked if it was OK to take photo's and was told it was in all area's, other than area 9. So I went up to the exhibition and started taking some shots, before anyone else had arrived only to be asked to stop using the flash gun, the reason given was to protect other visitors against photo-sensitive epilepsy! OK I understood this but the fact that I was the only person there was pushing it a bit. So I carried on using my compact tripod and used it in full view of the staff for about thirty minutes before a different member of staff came over and said I couldn't use a tripod, as it's against museum policy! Oh well I decided to cut my visit short and threw in the towel! Anyway here's some of the shots which include; the amazing Bell 47, covered in Ostrich feathers, a Morris Oxford covered in toy rifles and packed with soft toys, a Piaggio Ape with religious statuettes in the back, and my favourite, a piece made of steam irons, that actually opened like flowers and rather than releasing pollen just passed out steam! Very odd but fun all the same. Reggie

Hi Guys n Gals, I always say we should support our site members, so I placed an order for custom printed registration plates for the Mini's from Steve Rose. The results can be seen below, which are self adhesive and are stunning! Steve was happy for me to add his e-mail address so can I recommend that if you need any registration plates, whether suffix, prefix or whatever then contact him at srsignsuk@googlemail.com . Just awaiting the last bits from Revell, which will be a few weeks longer and I can jump into action! Regards Reggie -
