Kostas Katseas, a real talent!
colin replied to Iceman 29's topic in General Maritime modelling chat
Seen his dioramas quite a few time over the years and they never fail to impress -
I don't think Tamiya do a Aqueous range do they, do you mean Gunze
-
I have tried the AK 3rd Gen for brush painting, and although they thin well with water with added flow improver and brush reasonably well, their nowhere as good, imho, as Vallejo. They seem to dry far to quickly even when on a wet pallet

Very nice Beefy, you certainly didn't hang around getting that one finished, like the chair being utilised for a photo booth ๐ -
Eduard Fw 190 A-7 & Eduard Fw 190 D-9 Diorama
colin replied to GTZIM's topic in Work in Progress - Aircraft
You tend to find this on older Eduard kits, especially on the smaller parts. The D9 is not helped, imho, being designed to have the hatches for the guns as being open -
Italeri 1/32 Macchi MC.202 Folgore

Well your pain was worth it (I hope), you've finished up with a great looking model and the paint work is impeccable, nice job on the pilot figure also Almost jumped at buying one but the build reviews weren't that great, and I'm a really lazy modeller nowadays and can be bothered by poorly engineered new kits, life's too short ๐ -
Seems they are a darker grey
-
Border are producing some fantastically detailed kits, but their instructions are woefully bad and don't seem to be getting any better with subsequent releases, unfortunately

What a brilliant build, the ship and water/wake all superb -
Well at least they are a recycling company ๐

More 737 Max issues! Panel blows out in Flight of Alaskan Airline 737 Max 9

Because share price is king within Boeing, safety coming behind that and has been for a long time. It's not going to change until those at the very top are replaced I fear -
I've looked at a few Mini art instructions on these 1/35 kits, they look a nightmare to paint, as unlike the normal car kits with mostly single moulded bodies they come multi parts all to fit at different build stages. Look to be nicely detailed though
-
To be honest they never did have much of a model kit stock, but if your into Railways there looks to be a good selection on offer
-
OK for me, not a lot on offer models wise at the moment

bonding two clear parts advice - one over the top of the other
colin replied to woody37's topic in Modelling Tips
Might be better to leave the part off until you finish the painting/masking if that's possible -

How strong does it need to be, Klear should hold it ok if nothing else needs attaching to it UV resin or PVA modelling glue -
Now that 'shelf friendly' idea would be a game changer if 1/35 catches on for aircraft and other manufactures follow suit. With the detail that companies can get now with their 1/48 1/35 scale kits perhaps the writings on the wall with 1/32, well when was Tamiya's last 1/32 ๐ค๐
-
Well that's two more than me I think, and two ship models too boot, lovely builds all of them. One of the ship ones would take me forever to build ๐
-
Well they keep putting out kits at this scale so they must be selling them ๐ Suppose we could blame Tamiya for starting the damn 1/35 scale with their AFV ๐

Tamiya 1/48 De Havilland Mosquito B Pr Mk.IV

Had this boxed up half finished for over 3yrs, sprayed with Alclad Mil-Spec purchased from SMW in 2019 and that's were it started to go wrong, the paint dried very matt and gritty. Went over with micromesh trying to get it smoothed out. Anyway managed to finish it and sort of weathered, can't do much chipping on these for good reason, and most photos show them faded but quite clean, well the ones I found anyway is my excuse ๐ Thanks for looking- 6 replies

Brilliant build and paint job. I feel your pain with the build side, mines back in the box awaiting my return to finish it. Not one Eduard's best, too many options to open stuff up on it, and if you don't want it open closing it up starts the fiddly bit with fit issues. I think Eduard only intended it to be built open ๐ You won the fight with it though ๐
