  1. It would be interesting to see what airfix say about these spru attachments? as an aside i used to have sea Fury gun sight and its just a square box so dead easy to replicate.
  2. Very nice, a great display of all the disciplines of good model making.
  3. Really enjoying this as i have Wasp i wanted to convert one day I have pencilled in a trip the army museum at Middle Wallop to get some detail pictures.
  4. Made a start liberating some of the resin from its poring blocks and flash infill, its all very small and very delicate and very brittle Here it is top right I am learning as i go but i found a dremmel with a sanding disc seems to be a controllable way of thining down blocks that are too thing to saw off, by holding the part in front of a touch you can see how much room/thickness you have to play with without breaking through.
  5. Wimbledon, Sorry about my earlier post i was confusing the 1/24 with their 1/12 which didn't have a the classic mini engine carburettor like the 1/24...:)
  6. I thought i bought this kit years ago but when i looked its a later version with fuel injection and i lost interest in it very quickly
  7. Great to see these not quite so mainstream kits being worked on here at BM, they do require the extra work but your whirlwind proves they are worth it
  8. I think you need to high-lite panel lines like this in a shade that shows up on the grey and hardly shows on the green ?
  9. Very impressive, a labour of love and what a great subject
  10. Looking nice and tidy Love the power bulges for the Griffon .
  11. Some really interesting pictures there thanks. Its a shame that the one that sticks out like a sore thumb is the model of a spit in desert colours.......when did this strange idea of drawing in panel lines start in modelling ? when view among all those original pictures you realise that aircraft dont really have panel lines and if they did then scaled up a 0 .5mm line on a 1/48 model would be an inch wide gap on the real thing
  12. Thanks Troy, i will go with the Hasa as i have already ordered it but a full Eduard build is a possibility later, might be interesting to compare it to the Hasa
  13. This is a set i have from years ago so i might as well use it, the Eduard set looks injection moulded ? I am sure the Aires set was probably cutting edge when i bought it 15 years ago
  14. Hi A bit odd starting a build thread before i even bought the kit however like many people i am at home with too much time on my hands at the moment. Actually the truth is i am working from home but need to be able to switch off work and do something different. To that end i started looking at some old kits i had from years ago , most i had forgotten all about. I seem to remember the 1/48 ICM spitfire i have with a load of extras was bought because it was the only model Mk IX that was anywhere near the right shape back in the day ? I'm sure others will know better than me. Anyway this caught my eye Now this looks like a load of trouble, the poring blocks are huge and i can see the cockpit sections are never going to fit in the model, it also looks very fragile but hey ho Gotta be worth a go ? Just ordered a Has 1/48 Mk IXC but i think i have a few hours work here already I dont even know if they still make this stuff but wish me luck anyway... PS...i also found a set of Eduard landing flaps but that might be pushing my luck a bit
  15. Just caught up with this, a twin stick Lightning, excellent it must be good as i joined 9 years ago and this has prompted me to do my 1st post
