Well i have Hell cat and Aires resin set..... I also have an Airfix Mustang that i bough a while back with the idea of covering it in bare metal foil......so the jury is out. Quite fancy the Aires radial engine and Hellcat in FAA colours.
-
Sadly its one of three hangers recently demolished for housing at RAF Tangmere

This is my 1/48 Hasegawa Hurricane IIC with an Aires Mk22 engine they do for a Lancaster but its close to a MkXX used in the Hurricane, Aires tail surfaces, some quick boost cannon barrels and a fuel tank made for an Airfix mk1 hurricane The rest is OTB but i did use a vacuum form canopy so i could pose it open. No one really does a detail set like this and i wanted something to sit along side my Spit MkIX that had an Aires detail set fitted Pretty straight forward TBH, everything fits well except the wing to fuselage joint underneath and i didn't make a lot of effort to get that right as its just wrong this my third lockdown build and third for Ten years so i am getting to find my way again and trying to remember all those little jems I picked up along the way years ago, as a newbie back i have already discovered the ULTRA glue for PE..thats a huge step forward in its self. Next up is either a Hellcat with full resin detail kit i picjkled up half price on the net or an Airfix mustang that i thought i might try and cover in BMF for the hell of it Thanks for looking Spec

I think i am about done with this, few things to just tidy up. Many thanks to Troy for his help along the way Its not perfect by a long chalk but it will sit next to the Spit nicely.

C-17A Globemaster III ANIGRAND 1/72

Very easy to look at this and think 1/48 or 1/32 but the real marvel is its 1/72 !! -
I have never rebuilt an old model so already this is interesting
-
I have just done the Spinner black but never mind, thanks for this. Interesting to see the different tails on the Q's so just O with a tail it looks like.
-
Yes thanks as i suspected the kit moulding is wrong but its an easy fix
-
My first real problem with this kit is the tail wheel. It doesn't look anything like the ones in the pictures and doesnt fit the kit. The painting diagram shows the fuselage chamfered at 45 degree to the front where as the moulding is vertical ?

Am i the only one who has never had more than one model on the go ?

I think matt aluminium is called...grey
-
I decided to put some paint on this to move it along. dont judge it yet, long way to go and the devil is in the detail and lots of tidying up to do. Think i might give it a Red spinner to add some contrast,
-
Sorry should have said 1:48, i didn't realise they did a detail set for 1:32. It looks like as i will be cutting the front off forward of the cokpit anyway its just the canopy thats different

My days are spent restoring vintage Dellorto carbs but i manage to squeeze in a bit of Hurricane fun as well. Desk is a total mess and i live in fear of something falling on the Hurri but not enough to actually tidy up Today i am experimenting with some plastic rod and card to cage the engine in tostop it escaping and finding itself a better home..

Aaaargh! P-40 build foul-up. Finished!
Spec7 replied to KeithR's topic in Work in Progress - Aircraft
Glad to see you went ahead and fixed it. You may actually find thats the most rewarding part of the build in which case you will end up like me with an allergy against building out of the box -
I recently picked up the Aires full detail set half price on ebay for the Hasa F6F-5 however i have been unable to find that kit and bought an F6F-3 instead. As far as i can tell the difference is in the engine cowling and the cockpit canopy ? As i will cut the whole front end off anyway and fit the F5 engine do i just need an F5 canopy or are there other issues ? if i do its a FAA Hellcat Mk2 would that further complicate things ? At least now i know why the detail set was half price

Wings we have wings ! wings fit surprisingly well if you dont look underneath. Given how much of the front and fuselage i cut away and the way things "sprang" its not too bad. Got the coolant pipe in now at the wing root and a couple of hydrolic pipes and working on the fuel tank bulhead and header tank. Any pictures most welcome Troy

Just needs a mid upper turret now.

Down south your old fella is something quite different Bloom can happen if its too cold (unlikely at this time of year) or too high humidity, ie wet Never found a fix other than a light dusting of original colour with an air brush.........

Grumman F4F-4 Wildcat - Looking for help & advice
Spec7 replied to Drunken_Jedi's topic in Work in Progress - Aircraft
Strange because i looked at the picture and thought fantastic weathering then read the text to see how you achieved it which just goes to show, one mans disaster is another amazing success.. I use tamiya paints and humbrol thinned as a wash and clean up with white spirit which doesnt attack the tamiya. -
Great work, i too am returning and on my 3rd model now after a decade away and its amazing how much you forget and have to relearn. also a lot of changes in models and bits. Mig ultra glue is the best thing since sliced bread worth coming back on its own
-
I doubt many anywhere in the world would not see this as British Airways. Should have used the Red Arrows scheme.
-
Fantastic response guys, hopefully it will help lots of people. I went for a mig ultra as a first try out and so far i am really impressed with a near invisible strong bond a bit of straightening and some paint and this will be fine Many thanks to all who relied once again..
