  1. “It was also the first Allied plane to fly over Tokyo during the war.” The Doolittle raid was April 18, 1942. When did the Firefly fly over Tokyo?
  2. I used EZ line for years for rigging but the downside is many of my older builds (35+ years) the EZ line has broken down. So I’m going back to fishing line.
  3. Clearprop makes an I-16 type 5 that was flown during the SCW. They plan to release the kit with SCW decals in the Spring
  4. Beautiful build; the masking on the colors is amazing.
  5. Haven't posted for a while; here's a Flashback Berg I built a few years ago.
  6. Kudos to the manufacturer for replacing the canopy! Nice work overall
  7. I recall buying this kit when it came out and was amazed how small it was compared to the other Revell kits (P-47 comes to mind). Brian Knights paintings sold a lot of 50 cent kits to that 11 or 12 year old in the early 1960’s. The old Profile series were ‘the Bible’. Great modeling.
  8. Wonderful built! Canopy masking is perfect as well as your weathering
  9. Thanks for the suggestions; I’ll see if I can find a suitable ball and make one.
  10. My uncle flew 26 missions with the 91st HB group 323rd Squadron in 1945. He initially was a navigator and bombardier but latter was a ‘Mickey operator’ using radar to bomb through clouds. These individuals weren’t assigned to a specific aircraft but flew as the group or squadron lead. My son recently gave me a Monogram 1/48 B-17G and I’d like to build it as one of the a/c my uncle flew in. One was ‘Tower of London’ another was ‘Tennessee Tess’. Another feature of these a/c is the black triangle on the tail was solid with no ‘A’ painted on it. Anyone make a radar dome? It was placed in the position where the belly gunner’s ball turret normally was. Thanks.
  11. I looked at Richthofen‘s victory list and the Sopwith Pup he’s examining (after shooting it down) was January 4, 1917. The film jumps around on several dates; Voss in his preproduction triplane, a group standing around (and sitting on) a Fokker DVIII. Another short video of a SPAD shot down. As to the date of ‘1919’ in the title all I can guess is that’s when it was released for viewing. Perhaps the film was financed by Tony Fokker since all the aircraft are his designs (DVI, DrI, DVII and DVIII).
  12. Don’t use E-Z Line for rigging; I began using it 20+ years ago and many of the 1/48 WWI models have snapped wires. Could be the tension or the acc I used to glue the thread in place but over time the material breaks down.
  13. Beautiful build! I like your approach to weathering the sprayed on camouflage.
  14. I agree great finish and nothing I can see that’s wrong with your canopy paint.
  15. Here’s a very short review read Robert Gregory’s comments https://www.track-link.com/forums/news_industry/49891/I'm also tempted to buy the FCM A11 but would like to see some reviews first.
  16. Thanks for the posting. Too bad Owl stopped producing these.
  17. I’m planning on making a SCW bomber I’ve got the Crecy Ju-52 book and while it’s an excellent source it doesn’t cover the bomb bays. Any one have a photo or diagram of what this looked like?
