  1. Thanks guys. TBH, I'd rather see Airfix do a new kit of the B.2 and other fishbowl versions (T.17!), than a re-release of this one. They can do so much better nowadays than this. The fit was pretty decent mostly, and I don't think the cockpit was that bad, but those trenches for panellines, the tail and those decals were pretty dissapointing. I also have the PR.9 kit in the stash, and from what I've read, that one isn't particularly accurate? Anyway, it's done now. Thanks again for watching and the kind comments.
  2. Hello, Here's my 1/72 Airfix Canberra B(1).8 that I just finished. Can't say that I like it a lot, but hey, it's one more done from the stash. Not much new to say about this kit, I did attempt to correct the tail somewhat, so at least those ribs won't stand out so much anymore. If you ever feel like building this kit, good luck, and really, get aftermarket decals, don't use the kit ones as they are pants. Enjoy:
  3. If you're going for 1/144, and want a lot of variety, I'd suggest looking into Tan Son Nuth AFB. This was the main airport for Saigon, so you had a lot of traffic there, both civil and military transports, B-57's, RF-101's, RF-4's, AC-47's, AC-119's, A-1's and whatnot. And both the USAF and the VNAF used the base. Also check youtube, quite a few clips there.
  4. Hello, Here's my 1/48 Roden UV-20A, in US Army Berlin Brigade markings. The US Army bought a pair of the Pilatus PC-6 in 1979 and named them UV-20, and used them for patrol and light transport duties in West Berlin, much like the RAF used the Chipmunk. Once Germany was reunited, they were transferred to US Army parajump display team, the Golden Knights, where one of them is still in use (the other one collided with a Cessna and crashed). Its OOB, with only an extra antenna added on the nose. I wish there are aftermarket decals for it, though, as the Roden ones are not very good. The yellow ones like on the tail are way too transluscent, many of them are not in register, and they don't like to confirm to the surface very much. I opted to paint the cheatline instead of using the decals for it. The antennas are from steel wire. I used Italeri white and Tamiya Olive Drab paint mostly. Thanks for looking.
  5. Either a mix of low viz and full color, or all low viz. The low viz stencils on the Hill Grey scheme (2-tone) were the same colors as the camouflage, they just put gunship grey stencils on the medium grey areas, and medium grey stencils on the gunship grey areas. White and black stencils were only used on the previous camouflage schemes. So your best bet would be picking a specific plane and/or unit and year, and go from there.
  6. It works fine for me, Seb. Lovely little F-104.
  7. You can see a pdf of the instructions on Revell's website. Decal options are for the boxart one for Operation Granby, and for a camo one from 57 Squadron at RAF Marham in 1983.
  8. Hello peeps of BM. Here's my 1/48 Revell Monogram F-105F Thunderchief, done as a pre-Vietnam War jet, with the 8th TFS, 49th TFW based at Spangdahlem AFB in Germany. This is the fourth Spangdahlem based model I've done so far, and the first one from the 49th TFW. Painted with Alclad flat aluminium, decals from Fowler Aviation and some Superscale. Seats from True Details. Fueltanks will be added later on. Thanks for watching and I hope you like it.
  9. Thanks guys. I'm calling it done, for now. Still needs the fueltanks, but one of them hasn't arrived yet. Pics can be found in the Ready for inspection forum.
  10. Super Decal. Italeri's way of saying it comes with a big bright decalsheet.
  11. Got it on its gear now. It never fails to amaze me how enormous this plane was. Also got the canopy seals painted with some tan and yellow. Not much left to do now. Basically finish the landinggear and its doors, add some small antennas and other small stuff, and finish the seats. I have one fueltank coming from Canada, hopefully it won't take too long to arrive. The one that came with the kit only needs the olive drab paint on the front, but I'll wait with that untill the other one is ready for that too. I'm using a pair of True Detail seats, they're a bit better detailed than the kit ones.
  12. I don't think I have ever seen a Tamiya kit in an Italeri box. The other way round, yes, quite a few, but not Tamiya in an Italeri box.
  13. Odd. Alright, different pic then. Two GBU-12's, but same principle: Clickie
  14. I must say I really like this build, and I'm not even a big fan of VF-31. One comment about the bombs and the Triple Ejector Rack (TER), if I may. The reason you can't fit three bombs and the Sidewinders on at the same time, might have to do with the fact that you have the bombs on the shoulder stations too high up. They should go in the "curve", if that makes sense. Also, on the bottom station the tail fins of the bombs should be diagonal (like an X), like you did, but on the shoulder stations they should be horizontal and vertical (like a +), due to the mounting lugs on the bomb. Here are two pics might make it a bit clearer: From the front From the rear Hope you don't mind my little point of critique.
  15. Got more paint on it, and started with the decals. A mix of a failry new Superscale sheet with loads of errors, and 2 30 year old sheets from Fowler Aviation which is way more accurate, but has less good printing, especially of the finer details.
  16. Thanks guys. Finally done with removing all the lumps and bumps. Major bit are together now, so now it's time for filling and smoothing out, and restore some of the panellines.
  17. This PDF should give you some answers on the first question. From this website
  18. Those carts were certainly around when the A-7D's were sent to SEA, only they would have been painted yellow back then, not green. As to pics, yeah, they are hard to find indeed. Just look for A-7D and their units and bases (Korat, for example), that would be my best guess.
  19. Yeah, I'd say that set is good enough for a Vietnam A-7D diorama. The pic is from 1983, btw. You can find a bigger version on Wikimedia, here
  20. Yeah, that was a bit sloppy indeed. Still, it fitted nicely around the gun muzzle opening on the left side. (What do you mean, there should be a plug there? )
