  1. If we are talking about the recent 1/72 kit, Airfix suggests Humbrol 56 for the interior bits like fuselage, wheelbays etc. Only for the intakes and exhaust they suggest Humbrol 53. https://www.scalemates.com/products/img/7/7/7/1396777-42-instructions.pdf
  2. Word on the street, and in emails people have been getting from Tamiya, is that they will be releasing a new 1/48 FM-1 Wildcat kit. Not a completely new tool, but based on their F4F-4 kit.
  3. 1/48. But I guess I'll just order that AIM set. I could have sworn someone here was also producing one that looked very nice. It's a few years ago now, and I don't remember who it was. Oh well.
  4. @Drakendk. Thanks. I used MRP-242, which is their idea of FS36473.
  5. Hi, I seem to recall that someone here on BM produced those modified wingtank photoflash thingies for RAF Phantom FGR.2's. I am aware of the Aircraft in Miniature product, but I wanted to try here first. Does somebody know who it was? Thanks in advance, Pete
  6. Hi all, I finished this lovely 1/48 O-2A Skymaster last night. It's the ICM kit, from a Revell box. I used AOA Decals, a Yahu instrument panel, Aerocraft Models landing gear legs and New Ware masks for the clear parts. Painted with MRP. Not much to complain about with this kit. Enough detail OOB, and mostly excellent fit. Just two pics this time, as it's not terribly interesting from the rear quarters. Thanks for watching, Pete
  7. This silhouette looks pretty spot on for the one on the Tornado. Except for the pointy bits on the nose, which was probably just a hassle to cut out and spray. Might be of use. https://herogear.com/cdn/shop/products/[email protected]?v=1551911515
  8. @Mick_Gannon The 48ers stocks WandD stuff. Maybe you can get the camera nose from them once they become available. https://the48ers.com/wandd-studio-en-2/?page=1
  9. Am I missing something here? The Airifx 1/48 Meteor that I have (A09182), has two larger decals, which are pretty much dead on for 54" ones. These go on the top of the wings. It also has 4 smaller ones that match the 36" ones for the fuselage and underside of the wings. I don't have the RAAF boxing, but judging by online pics, they have the same roundels.
  10. Looks like you can find them on this sheet. Maybe someone here has them in the stash.
  11. I'm guessing these were ex-Luftwaffe T-33's, which led me to this:
  12. The 1/72 Hasegawa F-4B/J/N/S kits have the refuelling door scribed into the plastic. The light (the orange thingie) is also present.
  13. Hi all, Here's my just finished 1/72 Italeri A-26B. Italeri is not known for the most accurate and best kits around, but this one is on another level. The fit of some parts like the clear parts is terrible, the cockpit is pretty basic, the wheels are not like the real ones at all, the engines are way too deep into the nacelles, but at least you won't see the total lack of detail on them, the canopy is only correct for very early Invaders, even though all 4 decal options had the later style early canopy. Well, I should say 3 of them, because the one I was planning to do has the serial number of a Harvard, the wrong unit code (F8 instead of F6) and the wrong color for the rudder (green, instead of black). Looking for aftermarket decals, I found this Kit's World sheet that has my user name on it, so I had to do that one of course. These aren't without its faults either. The color of the bomb on the nose art should be a brownish colour, I think, not green, and the roundels weren't great either, but all in all it was an improvement. I used some MRP paints on it Thanks for looking. Pete
  14. Just to clear things up a bit. Both the F-4E (later ones, that is) and the F-4F had slats on the wings. The F-4E had slots on the stabilators, the F-4F didn't. Two different things, on two different parts of the airplane.
  15. I can see stars 'n bars on the top of the wings of camouflaged A-4's and RA-5C's, and on this F-4 coming home after the 1966 USS Kitty Hawk cruise as well: I'd say it's pretty likely yours had it too.
  16. Here's the link to the album. Nice Chipmunk. https://flic.kr/s/aHBqjAFtnF I suggest you check the FAQ sections on how to post images.
  17. Here's my 1/72 Valom RF-101G Voodoo, Kentucky ANG while deployed to Itazuke AB in 1968.
  18. And I'm calling it done. Quite pleased with it. More pics in the gallery. Thanks for the likes and comments, everyone!
  19. Got it all shiny and decalled up. I decided to use some stencils from a 50 year old Microscale sheet instead of the kit one. Neither are actually correct for this specific plane, but others in the same unit did have them kinda like this. It looks decent enough, IMO. I will probably get a satin coat on it this weekend, and put it on its gear.
  20. @ScheF15 The person you tagged hasn't visited this forum since 2010, so I doubt he will respond. Also, he mentions the FS numbers in the very post you quoted.
  21. I'm afraid people are getting too excited about this, thinking it's a new state of the art kit as we modellers like. Here's how it looks built up: https://www.facebook.com/fovhobbies/posts/pfbid025xA9c2yWTXqwSm6M2HdcEUTMXptVDxuDQByobwWKDXbEhj1svQEwtMYXpsT2CMYul?locale=nl_NL It's more a war gaming model, than a kit. I for sure wouldn't pay $99USD (!) for it.
  22. Here's one that appears to be in theater, with a green Skyshadow pod. https://dstorm.eu/pictures/nose-arts/tornado/gb/zd707_2.jpg
  23. Got the primer on (Alclad black primer), and started on the paint. These are the SEA colours from Alclad's Mil-Spec range. I have never used them before, and I must say I'm not unhappy with them. They spray nicely, dry reasonably quick for enamels, and they cover well. I'm not so sure about colour accuracy though. The green and tan look a bit pale to me. Maybe it will improve after some gloss coat.
  24. That's looking very nice. Good to see the decals have been put to good use.
  25. Hi all, I just finished this lovely little Arma Hobby Hawker Hurricane Mk.IIc. I used the kit's decals to do it as S/Ldr Micky Rook's plane, in Algeria in late 1942. I used Humbrol enamels on the top and some MRP on the underside. The kit has little issues, but the only thing I didn't really like was having to cut away some plastic to fit the lights at the wing tips. For some reason this rarely goes well for me. Oh well. Thanks for looking, Pete
