  1. Sorry, I can't quite make out the nose. It's a bit dark in that area. The white blind flying curtain is there, neatly rolled up on the side of the canopy. The owl on the tail is exactly like the one in your little insert, and nothing like that thing that Xtradecal thought was passable.

  2. I have this book. The profiles seem pretty accurate. 9444 is on page 39, though. The photo of it is almost the same as the B/W one above, probably taken within seconds of eachother, just with two different camera's. The 9444 has recently been painted on, to replace the older style of plane numbers as in the JaBoG 33 profile. The paint around it thus has a slightly lighter shade, which can be seen on the above photo. The fueltanks and the band around the rear fuselage on the JaBoG 33 jet have faded quite a bit when the photo was taken, mostly on the upper surfaces. On the AKG 51 jet, only the band has faded. Fueltanks look freshly painted.

  3. Youtuber and modelshop owner Mann's Model Moments had an interview with a lady from ICM yesterday, and the subject of a 1/48 Hampden came up, and it seems that they think it's a good idea and are trying to put that on the 2025 calender.

Take a close look at the display boards picture. There are a few items there that are a bit to good to be computer created.

The artwork is straight from one of the Special Hobby kits, and the sprue lay out is from the Italeri kit. Don't get your hopes up too quick. ;)

That's interesting that the Dutch also kept 'special weapons' in storage. I knew about Germans and Italians... and sort of Canadians with air-to-air Genie missiles - but never knew the Dutch kept nukes too.

Dutch Air Force and Belgian Air Force both had/have strike squadrons with a nuclear weapon delivery role. It started with the F-84, then F-104, F-16 and now F-35. Canadian F-104's were also deployed in the nuclear strike role at first.

  6. Thanks.

I use Revell's enamel thinner with the Colourcoats paint. When thinned enough, it dries pretty smooth and fast.

I got most of the paint on, but obviously some corrections and touch ups are required. I have to say, these colours look pretty weird, but they are supposed to be correct.

  7. Wings are on, and suddenly it looks like an airplane now. And quite a big one too. After the nose and tailwheel are in place, I think I can start masking all the windows and give it a coat of primer.

  8. Hi,

I'm looking for a 1/48 OH-58A kit, either the Esci original or the Italeri rebox. To be clear, I'm looking for the A version, not the 2011 new tool OH-58D kit.

Let me know if you have one, and willing to sell for a reasonable price, and hopefully reasonable shipping to the Netherlands (*laughs in 2024 international mail prices*)

    Thanks!

  9. The fuselage pod didn't close quite good enough on the rear, so it was a little wide for the tail cone. I added some bits of styrene to help making the curve smoother between the two bits. It looks OK now, but I will have spray some primer on it and probably have more filling and sanding to do.

I also completed the tail booms, with the wheel bays and engines. The wing parts fit great, but trying to assemble the wheelbays and then fit them into the tailboom halves was much trickier. Some heavy cutting, grinding and sanding was needed. The engines are quite nice, with a whole bunch of separate exhaust parts you need to add. These will have to be properly finished before I add the cowlings. I tried dry fitting the wings on the fuselage pod, and it looks like a very good fit, so yay.

Next up is finishing the engines and cowlings, adding the nose with the guns, and then glue the wings on the fuselage.

  10. The flags in front of the names are just for decorations,

I know, but I like the idea of the assignements. I also noticed I now have Canada instead, just when a bunch of Danish decals arrived in the mail. :penguin:

I guess I now have to build both! Oh dear, what a shame. :coolio:
