  1. You need to read the headline title of this area - Once you've looked at the FAQ forum, post here if you still need help. NOT for modelling related issues.
  2. I'm just waiting for funds to be released by the financial controller before ordering mine.😄 (especially after spending a few quid at a certain show at the weekend!)
  3. Not a lot of stuff from this years SMW, a couple of the retailers I wanted to visit were not in attendance, so items were purchased pre-show. However, still bought a few kits and other incidentals: All the masking items from Hannants along with the Ultimate Tempest kit was my pre-order for this year (take advantage of the 10% discount) Ultimate Modelling Products was sadly not able to make it this year, and so I had to purchase those items prior - UMP Thinner, AB Cleaner, & primer, and to bulk the order a little, a bottle of Tamiya white top glue. A few bits of Tamiya masking tape from various stands, along with some Revell Contacta cement, and some new micro-drill bits. Colour Conundrum Pt II from Guideline Publications. F-35 Lightning II & Gripen Books from Phoenix Publications (many thanks to them as Gripen book was won in their birthday raffle 😀) Eduard RF-51D/F-51D Korea Boxing & F4F-3/4 Midway boxing from Wonderland Models along with F-86D "Sabre Dog" (Sabre Dog will now be hidden away until Christmas as kindly purchased for me by SWMBO as a present!) All-in-all a fairly reasonable take from this years show. Already discussing about booking accommodation for next year, but will have to wait until new year as not showing availability yet on the company website!
  4. I'll echo some of the comments above - FS numbers did not exist and were not used on RAF aircraft in the period you are enquiring about therefore any comparison using FS references is incorrect! Personally I prefer XF 81 as my go-to for Dark Green not for any technical reason, but after doing a lot of searching, that quite often comes out as one of the better options! Also, if you do the following search on google - raf dark green site:britmodeller.com - it will search for the parameters of raf dark green of the site of britmodeller.com and list anything it finds. It's somewhat better than the built in search and may actually have saved you posting the thread instead! (PS using caps is considered shouting at any time titles or text - that's just one of the Internet protocols that been around for a very long time!)
  5. @Biggles87 My wife works for a charity here in the UK, and back in 2015 she celebrated 10 years with them. To say thank-you she was given a 6 week sabbatical, on to which we added 2 weeks of her annual leave. We spent 4 weeks in the USA, and a little over 2 weeks in France during the late spring, early summer of 2016. A week was spent in Limousin Region, and we visited Ouradour Sur Glane. It is certainly a sobering place. The youngest that was killed was something like 8 days old! The rest of the time was in Provence, and getting ourselves ready for the trip, and sorting ourselves out after the trip. If anyone is ever in the area, this is a place to definitely visit if you are even remotely interested in history. The entrance to the old village has a very appropriate message and one that we should all take heed of on this day of remembrance:
  6. I personally don't build resin kits (and try to avoid as much as possible any resin AM), however, many magazine articles that do utilise resin in part or full resin kits use a mixture of CA or epoxy glues as their glues of choice. CA mixed with talc I believe results in a compound that is not as hard, and allows much easier sanding of the resulting joint, and there are CA glues which allow a certain amount of "latitude" for adjusting final placement. This is where an epoxy glue is better, as they have a window of opportunity where they allow time to get the parts into a final placement before curing, whereas most CA type glues are almost instant and have very little flexibility for adjustment once placed.

    Lost

been there done that! Just returned after a short hiatus of about 6 months! Have done absolutely nothing this year since April time, except to build one of Airfix's 1/48 Chipmunks. Had a complete loss of mojo earlier in the year when 4 or 5 projects, all in a row, just go completely belly up and could not get a single one finished. 3 ended up in the bin they went that badly wrong! One of them was a comparatively new kit (Revell 1/72 MR3 Shackleton) which despite my best efforts, the bomb bay doors just would not fit in the closed position. Gave up for 3 months. Put it to one side, did some other stuff, and came back to it. Managed to get the doors fitted (yay....!) only to find some of the parts then missing (booo...!) . Several others then went wrong, and ended up in the bin, and I just lost all interest at that point. I've finally had to force myself in the last few weeks to get back to the desk with a couple of small kits - Airfix Hawk T1 - club kit 2022 Hawk XX154 - First & Last, and currently working on the 1/72 Beaufort. And enjoying myself again. I realised that if I didn't force myself to get back to the desk, I may not do so at all for a long time! Plus, with Telford coming up, I may actually get some inspiration with seeing all those lovely, finished kits on display. In addition to all that, we've recently had to do some valuations to work out our insurance renewals. Taking into account my meagre stash (168 kits) at an average of between £25 to £100, that works out to between £4200 and £16,800 worth of kits sitting there doing nothing! Add on to that various AM decal sheets, masking, all the paints, glues, thinners, airbrush cleaners and there is a sizable amount of cash tied up. So, I thought I really do need to get back to the modelling desk! And here we are. The Beaufort is almost there with the painting, undersides done, masked, dark earth topsides, waiting for that to cure, then masking up for the dark green. Unmask, gloss, and the stage I really enjoy - decals! This is the stage I feel a model comes alive and gets its identity!
  8. @Mike tried to use the report function instead of posting, but there seems to be a problem with that at the moment! As the thread has now gone over the 40 page limit, would you mind locking off this version of acquisitions, new one already started! Thanks.
  9. Seems to be back to normal - That's working now! (New EV purchased back in June - just need to add back to the relevant thread!)
  10. Don't know about anyone else's OneDrive, but mine is not showing that option!
  11. I think you may have covered most of the bases for objections there🤣 But also : Why are they making it when there is also one available in scale X from company z😝 (And to save any confusion, all said firmly tongue in cheek with no seriousness whatsoever....)
  12. That's the same coding I'm getting; and when copied into the "insert image from URL" box, nothing then happens as the coding is not recognised as being correct. This "shortened" HTML coding seems to be incorrect and is what is making the difference. Not sure why and if anything can be done to correct it. @Mike for some reason this seems to have only just happened with OneDrive - it did not used to use this encoding. I appreciate that it's not the forum that has caused the issue. the problem seems to be with Microsoft/OneDrive and something that they have done fairly recently and with a possible subset of users.
  13. Sorry don't agree. The fact that there are a number of us having the same issue suggests that the problem may lie with OneDrive. When generating the embedding HTML coding, something looks different, not quite sure what, but something is subtly different. I can't say what, as I'm not an expert in HTML coding, but something is different to how it used to look. It may also be the recent forum update does not like the new embedding HTML coding. I don't know, but for myself, and the others that have posted here it is currently not allowing us to insert any pictures.
  14. I think something has changed - I can't do it either and I use OneDrive to share pics!
  15. Revell wasn't there last year either. Wasn't a 100% sure so had a quick look at 2021 show guide and they were not listed. Last time they attended was in 2019. Had a quick look through the list and some smaller companies are in attendance like Dora Wings (Ukraine), AMG, L'Arsenal - so not much of an excuse for Revell not to attend.
  16. The gun pack is a separate sprue (F) in the original MK If boxing, not included in the Mk I boxing (I've just checked my own kits of these to double check.)
  17. If not, you could always buy it direct from Key publishing, or via digital (here's the link either way!) https://shop.keypublishing.com/collections/modelling-single-issues/products/airfix-model-world-october-2022
  18. Not my area, but I saw the post about you building this and remembered that Airfix Model World had a build article on this very same kit in a recent issue! October 2022 (issue 143) has an 8 page article on building, painting, & weathering this very same kit (with an extensive number of build pics!)

  20. First step in rehabilitation and correction is to admit you have a problem. Second step is to seek help... So time to sell off the stash🤔
  21. What makes me a happy bunny? getting back to the modelling bench after nearly 6 months due to lack of mojo.... This months club theme is Animals... So, in the middle of building this years Airfix Club kit, 1/72 Hawk First & Last! Nice simple easy little kit (except for the dozens of tiny, tiny... did I say TINY little decals that go on the ETPS version!) 😀 Getting a £200 refund back from the energy company and reducing payments as they realise that our payments are too high, with nearly £400 credit in our energy account. We emailed them to challenge them as to why they tried to put up our bill, with this amount of credit, and not only did they back down and not put up our monthly DD but suggested that we have some of our money back and reduce our DD as well😇 Placing an order with Hannants to be collected at SMW which means that I will certainly have to go to the show this year.... 2 nights' accommodation already booked in Premier Inn at Stafford North for the Saturday & Sunday nights, so making a weekend of it with the wife. All told very happy bunny at the moment! (If anyone on BM has a credit balance with their energy supplier, and they are trying to put their bills up - even taking into account the Governments £400 grant, I would strongly recommend challenging them. We did and they have not put up our bills as they wanted to, they have reduced them, and we are getting a credit back as well. Better in our bank account then theirs. If you are paying by Direct Debit, and in Credit, they do not have the automatic right to put up your bill, we give them monthly meter readings, so they have accurate billing information and do not have the need to estimate, this runs in our favour. For the next few months we have managed to reduce our monthly duel fuel bill - including the energy grant - down to about £120 per month! I have to admit this was on the recommendation of Martin Lewis so on this occasion something he suggested worked!)
  22. Used to be on Fox, then when Disney bought Fox, they closed the channel after about 12. months. It's now only available on Disney+, along with a lot of the old Fox channel shows (NCIS etc)
  23. Forgot to mention originally that we were really impressed with the service we got from the AA. From initial call to arrival to being repaired was actually under 60 minutes! Really brilliant service from them.
  24. Yes we did... 2020 Hyundai Kona EV. And it's a cracking car. latter part of 2020, so it's a 70 plate (for our non UK members, UK reg plates have the year of registration in the plate, so 2022 is xx 22 xxx for 6 months, then xx 72 XXX for the second half of the year, which changes each year). And has all the bells and whistles. Also is the extended range version. Full charge is up to 292 miles. Which like any car range is dependent on road conditions and driving style. At the end of the day, that is the way that all car sales will be in a few years. We just decided that it was time to do it now as our diesel was getting a bit long in the tooth and got a good deal on it.
