  1. Right Kirk, I rarely strip mine down unless I have been spraying "Klear" for a long time first you must always clean the airbrush Immediately after spraying and when I use enamels I have a jar half filled with "Polyclens" brush cleaner which I screw on in place of the paint jar and squirt some through then grab a bit of kitchen towel and squirt a drop into it to get a soggy patch and back flush it by holding it over the nozzle, just make sure the needle is well back so you don't damage it. If you want to check the needle do so but you should only need to give it a wipe and replace it, it is now clean enough for the next colour. If you are storing it away for a while spray a little drop of Airbrush cleaner through it as well then hang it up I have a number of badger jars and when I take a jar with paint off that is not needed I tip it in an old can the pour a drop of polyclens in, hand over top and shake it about a bit till you see clear glass then tip it out into an old jam jar and wipe it out with a paper towel, that could take another 30 seconds. Ted
  2. Jen I have a sheet here by "Joe's decals" 6 sizes, separate rings. sizes are,14, 13, 11, 9, 8, 6mm, let me know what size you need and I'll ship 'em to you Ted
  3. all you have done is bent tne needle , take it out and with a steel ruler roll the tip on a hard surface and it will straighten out again. Ted
  4. Adrian, it should only take a minute to clean your airbrush but I don't know what make you have so can't advise how to do it. I have Badger brushes and it only takes around 30 seconds to clean for the next colour and a minute to put it away for a long period. Ted
  5. Just finished this, It is not the easiest kit but makes an excellent model. Ted
  6. I amrunning through my pics for my webshots albumns but here are acouple on photobucket. http://s53.photobucket.com/albums/g65/ted-...ings-at-Brunty/ Ted

  8. I have always liked that kit and it makes up into a very nice model, you have done well there it looks excellent
  9. Well Guys after a nice drive up to Bruntingthorpe I met up with a dedicated few Britmodellers and of course Andy and the "lightnings" crew. They made us very welcome and said the words you very rarely hear these day "help yourself" the aircraft are yours to photograph. Not only were we allowed to take photographs but we all got to sit in the cockpit, a mighty tight space I might add, and not easy to get into. As the day wore on more and more panels got removed and a "giraffe" (that's a ladder) was pushed around so we could take pics from above etc. etc. A fabulous opportunity for any Lightning enthusiast who happens to be a modeller too, well worth the five pounds donation to the preservation group. For all you guys who couldn't make it, you certainly missed something but be aware that Andy has said they would do it again in the autumn if enough people are interested. Tony was there as well Andy Mullen seems amused I allways manage to get in somewhere Big John finally out of his tree one of the two birds on show for us Ted
  10. Same here, group photo is a good idea John. Ted
  11. I will look out for you John, I will be wearing something or other probably "Cutting Edge" Ted
  12. I will be going there this Saturday, anyone in the East London area want a lift? I will be leaving at 09.00hrs.
  13. Just opened it this morning and it looks superb with an extra clear fuselage, all the parts have plenty of detail on them and it can be built wings spread or folded, will need to take a closer look later as I am up to my neck in reviews at present. Ted
  14. I have just started my MPM Do217 K will that count in one of the groups???? Ted
  15. Hi Enzo, you really should try one, they are much easier than you think. once you cut the parts out it is the same as any injection moulded kit. an ideal one to start with is the Dynavector Wyvern, this is easy and the best one for a first timer. my first one was the Echelon lightning and that turned out quite well, be brave and have a go Ted
  16. Mike the model will look real good when finished, when you make the holes for the vortex generators first draw a circle where the roundels will be and drill all the holes to the exact size quoted and the brass will sit in tight but leave out those in the roundel circle until the roundels are on, the paint and some Future over the decal will hold everything in tight no need for cement. http://tedtaylor.hobbyvista.com/39-dynavec...in/page-39.html see if this is any help Ted
  17. I think I was still a young man when you started that, I thought you were crazy then and still do good luck matey lets see it finished soon Ted
  18. Hi Jen, don't have anything on that aircraft but my Echelon lightning articles are on my site if they are of any use, http://tedtaylor.hobbyvista.com/82-echelon...ng/page-82.html and of course all my Dynavector kit reviews are there also plus there is John Adams article on Vacforms as well good luck Ted
  19. Hi Wez, we were told by Boeing's rep, but then he was selling them to the RAF. He did give me a 1/48th scale model that only needed clipping together just never got round to taking it out of the box. at least we got the right blades on our kit. Ted
  20. when we did research on the Matchbox Chinook we saw the bubbles in several positions, after questions on it, we were told that the bubble windows were removable and could be fitted in any position quite easily Ted
  21. The correct FS # is FS14031 and xtra color do it as X153. I know this is corect as I took a sample of paint from a helo and gave it to Hannants to mix the colour when I got back from the states. Ted
  22. that's not bad for a couple of days work Vince, looks good matey Ted......
  23. Count me in on that as a definite Ted
  24. Al, I did the colour chart for that kit and we used a colour photo for reference, the top and bottom colour matched the blue of the stripes along the sides, the nearest colour is Humbrol Hu 15 dark blue but I personaly added a drop of Hu14 french blue to lighten it a bit on the model I built, my opinion was it looked a bit better, on the other hand you could use Hu14 as that is French blue a possible choice of a French company but remember that was only a demonstrater aircraft and I believe the only one done in that scheme. We never wanted that scheme put in the box but management decided it made the box look bright and would help sales. Ted
