  1. That happens to me all the time but I found that the warmth of my hand and a little shake will actualy ease the remainder out into a badger jar (slowly) and from there I can use it for either a gravity or syphon airbrush. My pal turns the can upside down outdoors and stands a brick on it for a couple of days to ensure all the propellant is exhausted then he makes a hole in the can and pours it out. Either way it's a pain, the Halfords stuff sounds interesting though. Ted
  2. The name is "The Lancaster bomber" by Hachette
  3. some more pics which are up to date The throttles are all you get in this step but they are easy to make up with a dab of CA glue They give you alluminium strips for the supports on the tank but they tend to "ping" off easily so I have used same size plastic strips affixed with normal cement Enjoy Ted
  4. Hi Bill, doing a great job there, remember those tanks fit 1 degree out and 1 degree off vertical. BTW mine will be mainly OOB so we can check it out, I am using my echelon fleet as a guide for reference. Ted
  5. I don't thinks so Dan it is too expensive, I just wanted to do a bit of old fashioned model building SWMBO would have a fit if I carried on too far. Ted
  6. the materials are good, the lazer cutting is perfect, just down to the skill of the builder but I reckon it is OK
  7. Yes but it isn't a mag just instructions and some history etc
  8. here are a few pics of work up to parts Seven. Enjoy Ted
  9. you don't need ammonia use windowlene or spray away airbrush cleaner
  10. Humbrol have those colours ex Authentics range Hu2 & 3 Now Hu 2 is 66 olive drab. Hu 3 is 176 Neutral grey. These are ANA colours and not Federal Standard by the way Ted
  11. Hey Dave I was there that day also and saw that, very impressive. Ted
  12. Yes I want one have done since I saw Bill Allen's model on the tables Ted
  13. you will probably find the needle lock nut is loose and the trigger is sliding along the needle instead of moving it, it is unlikely that the needle is stuck even if paint has dried on it then it usually pulls back OK but won't go forward easily. Ted
  14. No for £600.00 you get real merlins I think
  15. Simon, any good art shop should sell a compass cutter, looks a bit like a small asegi and fits into a pair of compasses where the pencil lead normaly goes, you can the cut any size you like. Ted
  16. Ian Dave Klaus went out of business some time ago so you won't get any now. Ted
  17. No Dave I was using the C/A glue for the stringers the scalpel was for scale, I use PVA for the wood parts. Actually it is £5.00 per week plus, and I can't see me getting that far anyway I just wanted to get back to my days when we built models like that but all Balsa wood. Ted
  18. thanks Rich, you wait till I fit the merlins in, better get them ear muffs on matey
  19. This is the partwork on the 1/32nd scale Lancaster, comes in 152 parts so will take a while. This lot is made up from parts 1,2 and 3. The construction is mostly plywood but we get sheet metal to cover it with and there are some solid metal parts like props etc. Not sure if I will ever finish it or not £600.00 is a lot of money, but here goes. Note how clean the parts are cut the parts just need a couple of nicks with the knife point to release them from the frame this is just the port outer wing section note the engine mounting wall fitted Be another month before the next four parts arrive so you might want to bookmark this page. Ted
  20. Braided hoses are very expensive and are no better than the plastic one you have, don't waste your money plus they are easier to handle. They will all try to sell you one simply because it is more money not because it is better , I have been using the plastic one for 30 years and it has never been any trouble Ted Ted
  21. I have just done the 1/48th PR9 and I cut a strip out of the decal and placed the two bits against the generators then painted them with roundel blue. Dead easy. Ted
  22. Bob if you are spraying enamels then they dry pretty quickly if you spray light coats, quick enough to spray the second colour straight away if you spray freehand but if you want to mask it then 24 hrs is a safe period. You tend to find paint lifting after masking if the surface was not clean and free of grease before you start, a finger print is enough to spoil it. Ted
  23. the newer sheets have the drawings corrected as i directed. Ted
  24. Nige the back part of the engine should have that hole at the top not the side or the big pipe won't fit in later, you are right about the spine I cemented my halves together but fitted them to the fuselage before the cement dried so I could spread the sides to the correct width. looks good BTW. Ted
  25. Might be a good idea to use Airfix as the tail planes on Matchbox are the wrong size............ too big, compare with airfix. Ted
