  1. Thanks Guys, I'm going with the round version which while not not quite correct in plan is the better of the two. I just wondered why Airfix decided on the D shaped version. Don
  2. Have just started the Airfix 1/48 Spitfire V a as flown by Douglas Bader and have a question regardibg the oil cooler fitted to this aircraft. The instructions show a version with a "D" shaped opening but my reference show a different version with a round hole at the front. The kit does contain another oil cooler and this has a round hole but is the wrong shape in plan. In fact when I think about both types included in the kit box seem wrong. Can anyone throw some light on this subject please? Cheers, Don
  3. Have just finished Revell boxing of Eduard SPAD XIII (Late version) Even without all of Eduard etched parts its a great kit. I'm new on here so have not figured out how to post a photo yet Cheers Don
  4. Thanks for the replies You confirm my thinking that ordnance (rockets) would have not been on a folded wing but a tank might have.
  5. I am building Airfix's 1/48 model Seafire F.XVII and want to know if anyone has seen photos of rockets/drop tanks carried on the real aircraft wings when they were folded. I read somewhere in the past that the rockets and tanks were only fitted while the wings were in the normal position. This would make sense to me as the wing would be quite a height for fitting anything to it. Maybe there are some ex FAA persons out there that could tell me please.
  6. Ok guys, I seem to have enough info now so am going to take the plunge and cut the 1/32 Revell Hawk's wings shortly to drop the flaps. It seems a fairly straight forward problem but the slightest error would cause ruin. I suppose once you have done it once repeating it should be easy or not as the case may be. Anyway all your posts have given me confidence to give it a try, so thanks for that. If it doesn't work out I can always buy another kit. Nothing ventured nothing gained.
  7. Thanks for all that useful info, especially the photos. It looks like i'm going to have my hands full. I may have to buy a few more and start again. Don
  8. Hi, new to this forum. have just started assembling the Revell 1/32 Hawk and am looking at the possibility of dropping the flaps. Has anyone out there made the attempt? What is needed are good photos of the wing including the flap area.
