    Which Grey

No experience what so ever regarding glossing over etc hence my working in Matt. The kit is purely a "What might have been", so am not to worried about how it will look when finnished. Terrible experience earlier on when using Satins hence my need to suddenly change. Thanks for the colour idea though.
  3. An old Froggy, looking forward to this one.

    Which Grey

Hi all, About to start painting the tamiya 1/48 Spit in the Dk Green, Ocean Grey scheme using Humbrol Matts. As I cant get a Medium Sea Grey in Matt, can anybody suggest a similar colour. Would I be right in thinking Medium Grey would be an ok choice.
  5. Hi all, The rear ID light on the Spitfire, Blue or Silver.............. Not building an exact replica but just need a wee bit info re colour. Ta.

    Seeking Decals

Thanks so far. No I dont have any pics of the aircraft it self so guess work would be the word of the day. purely if you had a chopice, what would you suggest. It doesnt have to be exact, more of a " What it might have looked like".
  7. Hi all, Wondering if somebody can help me. Am about to start work on The 1/48 Tamiya Spit Vb and am looking for a set of Decals to represent a 65 Squadron Spit, AR403, Sq codes YT-U. Can anybody give me some ideas as to where I might get these codes or sets I can canibalise them from. Ta.

    Cockpit Green

Sorry for delay. Cant believe nobody has this in spray tin. Never thought of car sprays so may check them out. Thanks for the help.
  9. Hi, Can anybody out there tell me if I can get British Cockpit Green in a spray tin.
  10. Regards the windscreen, try Falcon Clear-Vax Canopies at Hannants. They may have The US Navy set in 1/72nd. The 1/48th set contains the solid windscreen for the Vindicator.
  11. Even the Skua was faster than the Chesapeake Fleet Air Arm have a drawing of AL924 in colours I mentioned earlier.
  12. Morning Spit Man. Have the Azur kit of the Chesapeake but with so many questions there are loads of different answers. Regards Colours, it might be worth going on to The Fleet Air Arm Website, you might get some clues from them. I have yet to find positive proof regards colour schemes apart from the schemes they arrived in but in the end I decided that I would go with how I think they might have looked. I ended up with the usual Fleet Scheme of Sky undersides with Dark Slate Grey and Extra Dark Sea Grey on top. All three courtesy of White Ensign Models. Techmod do a set of Decals for an aircraft in the Dk Green/Earth/Sky Scheme.
  13. Would it be trivial of me to suggest you do them in Aluminium From a scale view it might look a bit better.
  14. And I found the info I was looking for. The yellow helmet was attached to the Irvin Flyung jacket for possible flights over water. Simply another way of being seen if the aircraft had to ditch.
  15. Thanks. Will prob just go with a Brown helmet. Sure I saw onw somewhere but for the life, cant remember where.
  16. Hi all, Wondering if anybody can confirm that Fleet Air Arm Pilots/Crew may well have worn yellow flying helmets. Believe it may well have had something to do with beeing see if they were to come down in the sea.
  17. Setting of for work and that has made my day. Thanks.
  18. Hi Tony, That would be much appreciated Could you send me an address and will get things started. Thanks again. Drem.
  19. Nice one, where did you get the P from for the tail?
  20. Hello all, Not to sure if I will be allowed to put this post up but will go ahead anyway. Just wondering if anybody would have a spare set of crew from the Tamiya 1/48th scale Swordfish they would be willing to sell. Have decided my Chesapeake might kook quite cute with her crewed up.
  21. Checked the site out, mighty impressive. May well go with them. Thanks.
  22. Nice job. How did you make up the sun shades in the cockpit for the canopy.
