  1. Hi all, Wondering if anybody can confirm if The Trumpeter 1/48 Vampire Mk9 is in fact, a Mk5. Have read various reports on this and would like to know if this is correct. Ta much. Drem
  2. Cheers, thats great. Thank you.
  3. Hi all, Wondering if somebody can help. About to start The Classic Airframes Vampire 5 and was wondering how to go about getting the decals to lie over the wheel covers and what would be the best way to go about this. Wheels by the way, will be down. Ta.
  4. Ta re Ultracast. Does anybody know where I might be able to pick Ultracast bits up in UK.
  5. Mind me asking where you got your Ultracast resin from?
  6. Dont blame you for not trying to weather her like it is in the photo. Nice job though.
  7. Sounds like both the engine and the cockpit are not for the beginner then, thanks for that. Am I right in thinking that there is a resin cockpit set for the Hasegawa Spit Vb? Wondering if I could use some of this for the Tamiya Spit,.
  8. Has to be the Mk V. Aircraft is based on 65 Sq Spit that crashed in The Scottish Border, 43.
  9. I have used the Zoom photo etched sets before and found them to be realy good so will be using that again for little bits and pieces. Any idea if the Aires merlin set is easy to put together and how it matches up to the kit?
  10. Hello all, Having got back into the modelling scene with a Tamiya Spitfire Vb for an exhibition, have decided I want to build another one. Bit more detail to be included this time with a complete new cockpit and a Merlin engine. Any suggestions as to which resin cockpit set might be best (With not to much work involved), and has anybody built the Merlin and found any dificulties in adding it to this kit. One more thing, any props on the market that have all the details under the spinner. Ta. Drem.
  11. Its the first time I have used satin paints and was genuinely surprised how well they went on though I did have to do 2 coats for all the colours. paint brushed on and no varnishes used afterwards. The Satin Dark Green is so different from the Matt and if they had a bigger choice, I would probably stick to them. Cockpit was fitted out with The Eduard Zoom set for the Tamiya Vb. Fishtail exhaust were resin.
  12. First build in over 20 years or so, probably even more. Took something like 3 kits to build and dont know how many brass sets. Cant see them but there are also parts of the origonal AR403 built into her as well. The standfor the name plate is also from the above. Very well pleased.
  13. Humbrol Satins 163 Dark Green,165 Medium Sea Grey, White Ensign Ocean Grey and Sky S. Oh, and the kit was The Tamiya Vb in 1;48.
  14. Was wondering if there might be a cheaper option than this. Any ideas if Eduard do a set I could cannibalise?
  15. Can anybody suggest a set of pre painted seat belts or 2 for the Classic Airframes 1;48 Anson. I know that the kit comes with an unpainted set but would feel safer with a set already painted up for me.
  16. Thats great, Would you happen to know the eduard set number for this. Ta.
  17. Thanks for that. Interior was defo Black as there are still fragments around of the origonal that I have seen. I take it that the straps were the usual Khaki or Buff around then.
  18. Hi all, Wondering if anybody can help. Am about to start work on The Classic Airframes 1:48 Vampire Mk5 and need help with a couple of things. Does anybody know where I can get my hands on a set of pre painted seat belts for this kit and if not any suggestions as to what set I could use and what colour were they. Interior colours for the seat would also be of use to me as well. Thanks. Drem.
  19. I think that by the time D Day came around, Warspite would have had her secondry armament removed (Am sure they were plated over). Still, stunningly modelled kit.

    Which Grey

Ta for all the help. One more..........................Am I right in thinking that the decals in the Airfix 1/48 Spit Vb are in fact made by Cartograph or some other company?

    Which Grey

Oh bugger this, I think I'll take up knitting. Seriously, thanks for all the suggestions. Will work something out and if i get a chance, I will post the results. Regards decals. I noticed that with the 1/48th Tamiya Spitfire Vb, there are seperate white circles to go with the roundels. Am I right in thinking that these have to be placed on the kit first to show the white in the roundels up better when they are put on.

    Which Grey

Thanks for everybodys help. One more question. Without using varnishes, will my decals go onto the satin finish without silvering or is there a product i can use to help get rid of this.
