  1. Would like to join this one with yet another tamiya 1/48 mustang. In RAF colours this time. Had this one in the last mustang group build but only got as far as very little assembly of the radio box etc. Hope this still qualifies.
  2. Far from perfect Pat but at least I will have had fun building it. Not going to do much to it at all just do the best I can with my limited abilities. A little sanding and some rescribing is all I have done. Hopefully get the silver paint down tonight. After that is all about the landing gear and a little weathering. Oh and the yellow training paint to top off.
  3. This one isnt too bad except for the lack of detail and some of the fit. Needed quite a bit shaved of the back of the trailing edges. Also the entire front and rear of the wings needed sanded into position after it was glued.
  4. So here goes for a little update. First I had to paint the cockpit what little there was of it so cockpit green it was. Because the seat was lower than expected and wasnt exactly in a scale position I left the cockpit bare. Hoping that the outside of the model would be enough to draw attention from the poor cockpit. Anyhow some pics. Some of the scribing I have done on the cowl Some fitting views. And heres where we are at. Ready for paint.
  5. Thanks guys. One other down point was the complete lack of panel lines on the cowl. It was just a big plastic plug. So my first ever attemp at scribing. Needless to say without the proper tools they are too big and messy. Must get myself a proper scribe. Pics later. But I am happy with it.
  6. For what its worth this will be my build. Pretty simple little build nothing fancy but not much detail so might need to do some panel scribing on this one. Complete new activity in my modeling history. Will need lots of tips. Have fun guys.
  7. Silver scheme with yellow bands as it is intended. Going to be an oob build.
  8. Looking to take part in this build with the academy 1/100 F14. Looking forward to it.
  9. Is there time to jump onto this GB. I was thinking I could do the 1/72 PM Models T20 Sea Fury. Sorry to be late into the build but only just noticed it here. Is this ok.
  10. Buying new modelling stock.

  11. Thats a good idea. I will contact him and see if the pics are good enough and interesting enough. I will also post a few more general pics here just now for the mean time.
  12. Just wondering if anyone is doing a Fulmar model at the moment. I found myself waiting for my other half while she was at the toliet. While we were in the Fleet Air Arm Museum. I just happened to be standing next to the Fulmar and was messing around with lots of photos on my phone. I ended up taking loads of the wing fold and undercarriage bay. Including the oleo leg, leg data plate and wheel bays. As well as some more general views. Just wonder if there was any interest in seeing these or not. Just let me know and I will try and post them tommorrow.
  13. I wondered when someone would pick up on that. The artist who did the painting does not generally do aviation art and may have not understood the complexity of aircraft codes. In other words he did this painting for us and for nothing. So dont mess with my father in law. In fairness I think this was the reason and doesnt really detract from the wonderful painting that it is. This painting was done partly in Scotland and partly in Malta. Plenty of aviation history from both these places.
  14. Just thought would share a photo of the model that Drem, a Britmodeller member, did for our exhibition of the recovered remains of AR403. Also here is a pic of the painting done to help raise funds. In donations and raffle tickets we made just under £300 towards the memorial. Long way to go but we will keep at it.
  15. Currently there is a thread on Key Publishings forum about the underwing markings (black/white invasion stripes) of single engined aircraft from operation starkey. It has a couple of really neat detailed schetches of how the aircraft were marked. Includes measurements. Here is the link incase you are intrested. http://forum.keypublishing.com/showthread.php?t=122781 Apparently an official document. Straight from the horses mouth so to speak. Enjoy.
  16. Great stuff. All way beyond anything I could ever produce. Often wish I had stuck in at the technical drawing side of things when I was at school and I could be doing things like this now. Only one small thing though. It all looks just a little bit too perfect at the moment. Does this change by the end of the model?
  17. Thats true you didnt mention any region of your body. Oh no bad shower image now. Must erase from memory bank. lol Cracking job though.
  18. Sorry but if I might say only a couple of minor problems. I dont know how to tell you this but........ You seem to have grown roughly about 647,000 extra hairs on your head. WOW. Oh and the only other problem is that your gorgeous looking model isnt mine but then that is my problem and not yours. Keep up the good work.
  19. well done Felix. At least three world records and a whole heap of data to go through.
  20. Good luck Felix. So far 1 record down. World no 1 record for highest manned balloon flight.
  21. yeah audio between Stratos and control is phasing in and out anyhow. But I lost audio right about that time too.
  22. I love seeing these daring events but I dont fancy it much myself. Wouldnt mind some speed trials in vehicles but anything at height. No thanks.
  23. LIVE right now. Red Bull Stratos free fall and parachute from 120000 feet. Also trying to break the speed of sound barrier on the way down. http://www.redbullstratos.com/live/
  24. I can only offer my own thoughts and feelings about what happened that night and upon seeing the first images beamed into our living rooms of the incident. I would like to ask the idiots that think it was a low altitude accident if they would like to ask the rescue authorities and what ever other rescuers there were there on that night what it is like to dig bodies out of the ground like potatoes that were sown there that very same night. It is a fact that when a body flies through the air from altitude that they adopt a head first attitude and plant themselves firmly in the ground. Eye witnesses to the incident can confirm that there were indeed several bodies planted into the ground all head down. I myself have encountered wreckage from the Pan Am flight from Lockerbie to Northumberland. Heavy bits landed in and around Lockerbie. Light parts drifted in the jetstream like paper caught in a breeze as far as Northumberland. How do I know this? Because I have seen the parts for myself. I myself could not believe it at first but we keep finding plastic parts and fabric parts every now and then and thats how we know. How do I know all this? Because we are wreck hunters. We seek out wrecks of long forgotten aircraft crash sites to try and learn of the loss and sacrifice given between pilots and machines and of the loss felt by those who loved them. These stories are never only one way or the other but there are some facts that are just too hard to ignore.
