  1. The Kate could also carry bombs instead of a torpedo In either case it depends on the ceiling of the flight path to target if the crew would require tank supplied oxygen. As designed, the service ceiling was 27,100 ft. Online sources state generally that when 30 mins or more is spent at or above 14,000 ft is when supplemental oxygen is required.
  2. @spruecutter96 not quite, the bust was completed in 2017, so about a year before the Greta Thundberg name began hitting the news scene. The bust itself was a generic bald female with no clothes and was based/inspired on an actual period photo from WWII.
  3. @Casey well no the experiment was already taken care of in the link from 2016 where the reviewer stated depending on the paint colour, the amount of thinner added varied to what point separation occurred. All I was inquiring about was a definition/explanation of what paint separation is in general but I guess it is not that simple an answer ...
  4. Whether it is water or thinner added to paint it does alter the balance ratio of the paint formula, @Casey will be in better positioned to explain about paint separation.
  5. From what I have read the Acrysion brand drys within 5 to 15 seconds. So to give more working time to avoid brush marks, water is added but each colour can vary as to how much thinning it can take before separation occurs so this translates to a learning curve. I suppose applying 5 coats is not too bad if the model subject is just one colour? For a beginning modeler this may be discouraging because of the extra time/work at the painting stage, when in the forefront of their mind they want to be done quick and proceed to their next model? A Britmodeller review here
  6. The fuselage to tail connection problem was realized/addressed in February of 1941. Until an internal correction could be designed for factory production, the strengthening strips were added to the exterior. According to wiki production dates it shows the solution overlaps during both production types in question. F2 1940 October - 1941 August F4 1941 May - 1942 May @G.R.Morrison may have more on this
  7. For sure more markings and variants will be coming. Also would expect some boxings to be without the full interior which is what I am waiting for. The decal sheet does show some colourful artwork but were not displayed in the profile options Interestingly Scalemates already shows a second boxing and the artwork shows the colourful 1st Armored markings from the sheet above
  8. Marking options have been revealed but all four are non combat subjects
  9. Can't say I have ever seen decals for 1/9 or 200mm size. I would suggest just printing out on card stock the unit patch since at that scale it will have some thickness to it anyways. That was exactly what I did for the red star on the cap and the square pips on the collar tabs. This bust is a bit smaller at 1/12 scale.
  10. Looks familiar, and yes it appears to be a reboxing of the AVI plastic. https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10484586 They have added some extras in the LF kit including a clear acetate of the instrument panel and a vinyl mask to spray the markings.
  11. MiniArt update announces first boxing of their Stuart as Coming soon More photos in link https://miniart-models.com/product/35401-m3-stuart-initial-production/?utm_source=Main MiniArt's Subscribers&utm_campaign=1f7489082c-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2019_11_04_09_05_COPY_01&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_da2fe6ed5a-1f7489082c-78725749
  12. Like how the linked review states it is meant to be built and played with and not sit on your shelf collecting dust. https://modelingmadness.com/scott/allies/us/monopf4fpreview.htm
  13. Can only guess the camouflage style is unique in the two photos. An applied formula of thinking that the rear image plus front image of identical schemes equals one result, the Ford G917 Maultier?
  14. Panzerserra blog believes they existed and went to the trouble of cross kitting to create his build His photo proof is based on two photos http://panzerserra.blogspot.com/2013/05/ford-g917-maultier-german-haltrack-3.html
  15. I have always found, as others have, that particular paint is on the coarse side. Could be the metal flakes are not as fine as in some other metallics?
  16. Was just visiting a Czech site and remembered the request here for 1/24 scale. Their products have a drop down menu where you can choose that very scale so they might have something of interest https://www.firma49.cz/en/
  17. The post/thread does not require moving as the OP is inquiring if this radio set was ever used in aircraft. The 3D design is originally from a Czech producer firma49 https://www.firma49.cz/p/british-radio-station/ It has been pointed out elsewhere that, though it is nicely detailed, it is missing some key feature particularly the variometer. That is the cylindrical object on the top left of photo
  18. About the origins of blue in the Caunter scheme, it seems to have already been around by 1967 as presented in a pamphlet like publication by James Bingham. Colour profiles of the Caunter scheme Matilda indicates the illustrator was Keith Broomfield.
  19. Tomas Chory publication on Wehrmacht colours has only the one RAL 6003 Olivgrün listed. When issued to units in the field, it came as a paste that had to be thinned in order to be applied to vehicle/equipment surfaces. Depending what was used, such as water or fuel, and the mixing ratio to paste, that would change how dense the colour appeared. Guess you are looking at Ammo by Mig Jimenez hobby paints and their option 2 is just their version of thinned Olivgrün.
  20. I think the David Byrden site may be of some help He may not have built them all but has taken a close look at all released Tiger kits and imparts his knowledge concerning accuracy and any other construction details to watch out for. https://tiger1.info/kits.html For example the Trumpeter kit mentioned above he points out the instructions have you install hub caps on the outside wheels as an option but they are really only used in place of and not both together. The Takom kit of the mid he has only been able to comment on what has been seen from CAD images https://tiger1.info/models/products-page/TAK2198
  21. Would not know what size staff the company has if any. Could be they just print an X number of items when they are initially released and then older stuff becomes print on demand. I did get a chuckle that my parcel was packed in a laundry detergent box similar to Tide.
  22. You can try looking for a heavier weave/thread like that used for scale wooden ship models. They are available in a variety diameters and shades depending on how you want to tackle their colour. My experience with metal cables is they tend to be difficult to pose into shape and do not accept paint very well.
  23. Not familiar with the unit but according to two different online sources 2nd Derbyshire Yeomanry were replaced with 4th/6th South Africa Armoured Car Regiment in early November 1942. They did remain in the middle east training for an amphibious landing in the Dodecanese islands but this was postponed. They then returned to the UK in January 1944. http://www.desertrats.org.uk/orgarmour.htm#DY2 https://madrecce.org/role-of-2nd-derbyshire-yeomanry/ So if the above is correct and the pdf link is mistaken, then that just leaves 1st Derbyshire Yeomanry at the Tunis parade. As for the page 15 photo a heavy coat of dust and dried mud and an over exposed photo that has been further dialed up in contrast could make the vehicle appear light coloured.
  24. The Panzer I was announced in February of last year and there was posted a screen capture indicating it would be a new tooling
  25. Here is my experience ordering directly from them. They only sent the one email to confirm my purchase and along with it sent my order number. The notification was done the same day I had sent my order in. So from start to finish almost five weeks for the package to arrive which I think is fine considering it was the holiday season. Going by the date stamped in Poland it did take about ten days before finally beginning its trek to Canada.
