  1. Anyone had any experience with it so far?

I was just having a look, and it's expensive... I filled my basket with 3 shades of powder & 3 shades of paint, added some airbrush lube, and the bill was going to come to over £40 before I added postage. Given that I've got about £70 of Alclad, I stopped in my tracks & pondered for a second :hmmm:

Then I decided to ask you lot :)

I used SnJ years ago, and still have the powder. I found it greatly superior to any available "metal" paint then, not too sure now, as I think ALCLAD may have the edge.....

  2. I'm hooked on my Badger 200, its cheap and spare parts are easily available (and like Drewe says -a real "Triggers broomstick!".) I had a lot of trouble when I switched from enamel's (mostly Humbrol & Xtracolour) to Acrylic's. Acrylic's dry so damn qiockly (ok on models - not ok in airbrush!). And of course the biggest challenge is keping them spotlessly clean.

The first time I attempted to use ALCLAD was a disaster. It sprayed for 2.5 second then clogged up. The ALCLAD stripped off all of the residue of Acrylic paint that I thought I'd cleaned out.

As a further note - In the shop I sell on average maybe Two Badger 200's a month, not bad for a small shop I suppose. And will allways recommend this as an "entry level" airbrush.

I do though fancy a Dual Acton airbrush next and maybe I'll go for the 150 , and use my 200 for ALCLAD only......

But to answer your question Mike, no problems at all other than those I've sell inflicted upon myself...

  3. Same here... guess I'm just chicken :smartass:

Calum/Mike, Both of those were painted in Halford's Aluminium! I too was a "chicken" with regards to BMF finishes until I came across Halfords!! It dries in nano-seconds and can be masked - I simply sprayed a mist of SnJ (I think) or maybe even Metalcoat on certain panels...

For my next "Silver machine" I'm going to attempt using Halfords and Alclad........That Alclad is the bees dangly bits (or should that be the dogs knees!!!)

  4. well there's a surprise. Only yesterday I pulled out some old SAM's dating from 1999 2 of which were your write up's on the Lightning (part 1 & 2). I was a bit gutted to read that your T5 conversion fit very nicely - I'm working on one right now, and it's a bitch to say the least.

Nice work as always anyway Bill

Blimey Gary...1999!!!! As long ago as that!!! I must get around to doing "Part III- The Mk 3"

    Soon...............

  5. Ah, the Airways Buccaneer - the first vac-form kit that I ever attempted...

    :giles:

    Darius

Yes, just seen your thread!! (Actually - the kit itself doesn't look that bad - it certainly looks good when built!)

  6. I'll get that checked out tomorrow. SWMBO has two hangars for wine storage at Kemble, I'll get her to get the gen via VISINT........and/or photo evidence.

Vulcan is due at Kemble Air Day this year, along with the Reds doing flybys with Hunters and Gnats...the Falklands formation (with Vulcan) is due to fly through the same day after waving to Her Majesty.

    Wine storage Rich?? Wine!! Yummmeeeee!!

AND I think a Britmodel(l)er-a-thon is on the card for Kemble this year!!!!

  7. Bill,

That is "bob on" / "proper champion". There is a profile of the 11 Sqn aircraft in the Warpaint book and I was going to make up the decals myself. This has saved me the hassle! Cheers,

    Ed

The decals are as good as anything I've seen in a kit!! I canna wait tee get ma wee mitts on 'em.......

Oh and PS and all that mullarky...I have the Aeroclub 1/48th Meteor NF11 sheet in the shop with XI and 29 Sqn markings on them.........

  8. Do you know, Bill, that a set of 21/22/24 wings are nearing readiness, from MDC, which are designed for the Hasegawa fuselage? Using the Matchbox wings, on the Hasegawa fuselage, is a bit of a nightmare, since the wingroot fairings don't match, at the trailing edge. I did the conversion, about 20 years ago, and wished that I'd never started.

    Edgar

Yes indeed Edgar, I've been watching Derek's fantastic work on LSP with a great deal of admiration and interest......not good news about using the Matchbox/Revell wings then!

Okay, maybe its onto plan (E) wait for the MDC wings....(I know that it will be worth the wait!!!)

  9. Bill,

Is there any chance of a picture/scan of the decals or placement guide :) Regards,

    Ed

    Here are a few piccies.....

As for decal placements - pretty much of a standard, what were you looking for specifically....

  10. Bill,

Cheers mate. The Venom is a "defo" however I'm not sure about the B-57. I'll just leave it for a few weeks and If I miss the B-57 I'll get ebaying and locate one there. I'll pop over to the shop in a few weeks. Cheers,

    Ed

Not a problem Ed, I put the B-57 on E-Bay as the poor cow's been sitting on the shelf , gathering dust......

She could still be on E-Bay in a few weeks; you never know you may well pick up a bargain!!

    Cheers

    Bill

  11. Chinese kits.......I have nothing but total repsect for Trumpeter/Hobby Boss.......who-ever. Their products sell! Simple as that. They've bought us products that very few other mainstream manufacturers would touch with a 15' bargepole!

The Sea Hawks , Wyverns and Gannets are supebly tooled and are at affordable prices, who'd have predicted a couple of years ago that a mainstream manuacturer would issue them?

  12. Bill,

Is there any chance of a picture/scan of the decals or placement guide :) Regards,

    Ed

Will do Ed - later, interestingly the big "H" list it still as a future release.....

BTW, do you still want the B57?

    Cheers

    Bill
