  1. All in the eye of the beholder........
  2. The Buccaneer looks nice next to the FAA Phantom though ...there's artwork for that too....
  3. It wasn't a standard font. There are also downloadable versions on the Internet. I have them on my old laptop. I'll see if I can find a link.Edit: try this... http://hans.presto.tripod.com/fonts/stencil5.html
  4. Of course! I'd totally forgot on about Caruana's freeby's! He also did one on the Buccaneer....link...https://sites.google.com/site/rjcaviationart/home
  5. I've consigned my build to the "back-burner", but I'll resurrect it soon(er or later). Talking of the Phantom markings, or indeed those for the Tornado, if they're too big in 1/48th then it may be worth checking out 1/72 new scale decals, I expect I have those from various Modeldecal or Xtradecal sets. The fin code was of course applied to a black outlined white triangle, that should be reasonably easy to find, likewise the squadron 'bar' is only a black rectangle with a white circle and a pair of white triangles...that could be easy to scratch..the wake's knot may not be that easy to replicate though....
  6. I've been tempted to buy the KH Jaguar, but just can't face it. I also started building the Airfix ( Revell boxing- worth it for the decal sheet alone!) one a few months ago, filling all the panel lines, and re-scribing them....it's a big old job! I was also lucky to have a good collection of resin (Paragon, Neomega and Aires - for the KH kit that will be made to fit) and decals (xtradecal, Model Alliance) . Airfix kit has a load of inaccuracies, and it's a poor fitting kit in places, but it does at least have correct stores and pylons, though these are a bit small. My recollection of the Esci decal sheet is not a positive one - but it has been a few decades since I actually had it! I'm pretty sure II(AC) decals for the Jaguar are on a sheet I have somewhere, I think those for the Phantom are a bit too big.....
  7. According to Combat Models, Fuselage was Light Aircraft Grey, Wings and tailerons Dark Sea Grey, spine black....standard RAF Grey's......https://www.hannants.co.uk/product/COM72005
  8. You did you Dad proud Monkeynut. I'm sure he would have enjoyed seeing your build, as we have. Please do post some more pic's on the RFI section...
  9. It's a shame he decided to pull it, there was some useful stuff on it.
  10. Yes, nose weight is a must. I'm building an NF14 in the Group Build. Luckily there is no lack of space to cram it into....
  11. This isn't modelling......it's wizardry...black magic....well it is coming up to Halow'een I suppose!!
  12. If you get nothing else...this pitot tube is a great improvement on the kit part... https://www.hannants.co.uk/product/MR48078
  13. A lot depends on your own abilities , what you want to achieve and why....this link should show you what's available, currently on Hannants website. https://www.hannants.co.uk/product/AX09178 Also check out Neomega and Flightpath. One word of warning if using the Aires resin wheel wells, you'll need to remove a lot of plastic from the inner upper wing for it to fit. The plastic will be very thin as a result. There are a few builds on here too....
  14. Lovely job!! I'm a great fan of CA's Meteor's...despite the dodgy main wheel attachment arrangement, or lack of it, and horrible intakes..thankfully Barracuda has issued resin ones! I've built a few over the years and am finishing one off at the moment, I'm also rebuilding another. I have an F8 and T7 in the stash, and will build them eventually, along with Airfix's kit when it comes out...... Yours just shows what a good solid kit these were...well done!
  15. I wondered that too, but normally the administrators fire a shot across the perpetrators bows. I wonder if it was deleted by the OP, Julien?
  16. I never pass up the opportunity to bulk up the spares box Mike, but I'll have to be a bit creative in finding a use for a spare Harrier mainplane!!
  17. They've included the FA2 upper wing as well? Two airbrake wells, with or without chaff/flare dispensers..AND an additional canopy? Is that for a GR3....that has to be the best decal sheet I have ever seen in an off the shelf kit!!! Superb!! Just need to get my mitts on a few of em.....
  18. Just a bit more progress. I decided to slap some paint on the interior. Black followed by erm...black (well Revell Anthracite actually). I also decided to give the whole model another light misting to highlight any issues.....it looks a mess!! However....since these photo's were taken, I've added the other airbrake interior and another layer or two of filler, the cockpit decking was a bit of a mare to fit.... I've not added the seats yet...as I've not made them! I also need to find some good photo's of the frame work/roll bar(?) arrangement. But I can do that after I've painted. The seats should just drop in......
  19. ...funny you say that, I had to do that on my recent F4J(UK) build....
  20. Not sure about this kit, but the Airfix kit only has the overwing 'winder pylon, with no fence. I'm pretty sue that these fences featured on a Photo Etch sheet going back some years, I certainly know Paragon featured a pair in their T2 conversion. Failing a PE set, they are relatively easy to reproduce in plastic card....
  21. There have been a couple of threads on here, I think? I found this for starters.... http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234925738-british-phantoms-strengthening-question/
  22. 1 in 6.? That's pretty prolific compared to my current output......
  23. Bit of an update...I applied some primer to help id any issues with the scribed panel lines - there were a few!! As you will see I also opted to open the airbrake bays. These will be replaced with the finer Airwaves set. Not sure whether I'll pose them open or not, It'd be a shame not to...but again I'd have to see what relationship they would have had to the closed flaps. I've lined the bay on the port wing, the starboard side next.... I've also amened the top decking, following Dennis's (Sloegin57) photo's on the main Cold War Forum on here. Some great detail there I hope to replicate in some form or other...
  24. And a great view of the strengthening strips below....
