  1. You might have to change your "pickled Wings" blog to "Sober wings" then

    April Fools

So a girl farted, and they got mad with you? You should sue for Nostril anguish or something
  3. It's already forgotten. No, really. I can't remember a damn thing about it!
  4. Don't worry about it. It caused a wry smile at this end, so it's all good. You can go about your sensible thread now without me interfering
  5. If I wanted to take photos, the Canon would be best, but for shooting down aircraft, I'd recommend guns every time
  6. Looks good from what I'm seeing, but some closer pics would be better, as my old eyes can't make out the details. Crop the background out too, and it'll help focus down on the model
  7. That is a monster I know the real monster is currently under here in the movie, but wowzer. Pretty stunning. What're you going to do with it when you've finished?
  8. Games Workshop launched a 'warpstone' ring for your loved ones, although my email arrived too late, so they're the fools It's getting so I don't believe anything that happens on 1st April. That said, I definitely finished my P.1101... honest!
  9. Like I said, don't read any of it out loud, or it might conjure a modelling purist with a pooh-pooh attitude to anything slightly whiffy
  10. Freehand! I tried to follow the instructions, because that's the pattern on this version, but eventually I had to make up my own shapes just to preserve my sanity. I'd pick a shape from the profiles and try to replicate it, do a few more, pick another few and move on. I did a bit of tidying up afterwards with some 'black', and that's pretty much it. I was using a Gunze Procon Boy PS-770 airbrush, which is a 0.18mm needle, and I added a bit of Gunze Mr Retarder Mild to reduce any dry tip issues, but inevitably, you end up having to wipe the needle off as you go along Thanks for the comments and likes, folks
  11. Topic updated with six new sets at the bottom of the mega-review. The sets are as follows: WWII US Aviation (3047) Wehrmacht Afrika Korps (3049) WWII British Royal Navy Aviation (3050) WWI US Vehicles (3051) WWII Military Vehicles of Britain (3052) WWII German U-Boats (3053)
  12. I reviewed this kit when it arrived, here, and pretty much started it straight after, here. That was toward the end of Feb, and I started my thread on March 14th, finishing it yesterday. Not fast, but then I'm not a rapid modeller anyway. I finished it though, which is great news, as I've not finished much lately to my embarrassment it's a great little kit, although it does have some foibles. The landing gear benefits from pinning, the exhaust needs thinning down, or replacing if you want to install it later, and the radar whiskers also need some fettling. i had to replace a few decals with those from my stash, but that was because I had a damaged one, and also tried to remove the carrier film too early. oops! It won't win any competitions, and mistakes were made, but I'm quite pleased with it. I never thought we'd have an injection moulded kit of this type though, and now we have. If the war had dragged on longer, it might well have flown, as the prototype the Allies recovered was almost structurally complete, although the engine was a dud. More almost, Luft'46 and paper projects in injection moulded styrene, please Again, thanks for watching. I might try and straighten up those antennae that I thought were straight, but I may also bottle it
  13. I got the whiskers on, and thought I'd done a decent job, then painted the bare spots and added some airbrushed colour, then a coat of matt varnish to finish off. I'm going to move on to the next project now, so this one's going in the cabinet. Here's a quick pic, and the rest of the pics can be found here. I'm thinking of finishing off one of my stalled projects next, but haven't decided which one yet Thanks for watching
  14. Same as Alex apart from the coins. I stick my coktail sticks in styrene foam, which can be good, but if there's a breeze, they can blow over, especially if the parts are heavy. I also use tongue depressors, and either stick tape (sticky side out) or Blutak to them, using them to paint multiple parts at a time in the same colour.

    April Fools

Did anyone get got? We don't bother here, as we're stupid all the time, so it don't make no nevermind. I saw a few attempts on social media, two from Airfix, one a 1:24 Sunderland, the other a paper plane with shadow stand. Both a bit unreasonable to fall for TBH, but maybe that was the point? If it had been more believable, imagine how upset and indignant some folks would have gotten when it was announced as a gag.

    Easter

Yeah, my brain was all kinds of messed up yesterday. I didn't know whether I wanted a or a haircut.

    Easter

Is everyone having a nice Easter? The weather's been decent here today, and I got a little bag of coffee goodies from her indoors as a giftoid. I got her a similarly practical magnetic fly net for the study window so she can cool down in the summer without being inundated with flying stuff or spiders. I'm a practical guy, as I got one for my Boy too. He's already eaten all of his Easter eggs, and has been stopped from ingesting any more sugar today before he spins out
  18. How big is this thing going to be in the end? Will it need its own postcode?
  19. Lovely job John. I've added a link to the review now, so people can see how well it builds

It's worth a try too. There are no followers to this topic however, so he won't get notified. He might get one if someone mentions his name though. Let's try to summon him @mike romeo

You're dead right, although this was posted in 2017, so Mike Romeo might not see it. He hasn't been on since summer 2023. Wonder where he went?
  22. Lovely model, despite your tribulations, and I bet it was a real seat-of-the-pants ride, especially if the roads were even slightly wet.
  23. I got the whiskers on the nose last night after giving them an initial coat of primer and getting them to line up is going to be a bit tricky, due to the curve of the nose, and the generic nature of the angle etched into the bases. I've adjusted the lower ones to a shallower angle to improve the look, but there's definitely going to be some tweaking needed (not drugs) to line everything up properly. I've left the glue overnight to cure, and will have a go at it later today. I knew I'd have to touch up the paint, and I wasn't wrong. The combination of glue, handling and general clumsiness has worn away the paint in places, but it's all fixable. While I was there, I glued the brass exhaust into position, and it looks pretty good. It has altered the CoG a little however, and it's touch and go at present. I knew it would be iffy, as I'd also forgotten to put any nose weight in as well as forgetting the instrument panel, so if needs be, I'll cut a disc of lead and glue it to the bottom of the intake trunking, applying a liberal coat of Black 4.0 to hide it away. That stuff is a boon for hiding errors, mistakes and blank areas of a model, but you only need tiny amounts, so I'm glad I only got a small bottle. Pics later if I make any progress with the whiskers.
