  1. What better day to post the last of the three PE sets for the 1/72 Vulcan? So Merry Christmas! PE 7255C is the Bomb Bay set, which should be ready to ship in late January. Oh, and following closely behind will be our Pro 7205, 1/72 RAF 1,000-Pound Bombs to fill that bomb bay (or or any 1/72 scale RAF use you may have--pics to follow when available.

  2. Been trying to finish off a few before the New Year, finished this one only a few minutes ago… It’s the AFV Club Tiger I Final Version built OOB apart from the addition of a turned aluminium barrel. Nice little kit in my opinion… Enjoy

  4. Hi everyone I'm back for the last one of the year - after sitting on the bench for almost twice as long...... This is my version of the BSG Viper. It's just something different to the usual builds of these. I sat on this for ages trying to think of a color scheme that I thought would look cool. Something that could compliment the sleek lines of the craft. Something other than dirty white. Then a few weeks ago, quite by accident, I bought a bottle of Tamiya's Dark Iron (thinking it was Rubber Black), and ended up using it on something else. When I looked at the color, it was nearly perfect for the color I was looking for. After a little bit of mixing different shades of other paints, I finally found a color I liked. I originally had a complete over-all tiger scheme in mind but I felt it was too complex to spray with my skills, so I passed on it. However, I came across a decal sheet I forgot I had which had tiger stripes on it. Perfect! I knew where I wanted them too which made the final part go so well. I scratch built 2 new rear fins and added canards (just because I think canards are cool) plus stuck in some brass rod and stretched sprue for some extra plumbing. I didn't paint the brass rods because I liked the effect they have with the engines. Well, that's all folks. Please don't be shy to let me really know what you think Thanks for looking MH (sorry for the edit - chose better photos)

  5. Hi all, here are some pics of my last completed build: It is a Ki-61 Tony from Hasegawa. I stayed away from the boxart scheme which is a plane from the famous Kobayashi and decided instead to depict the plane of his wingman, Kiyoshi Ando. Problems with decals resulted in the absence of the red lightning symbol , which I may eventually add later. Anyway here are some pictures of the build: just for fun I rebuild the cockpit walls and the seat with plastic card. Some wiring was added to the floor with copper wire: I added brake lines to the UC legs, and rebuild the radiator intake with thin Evergreen card: Here are the cockpit parts painted and weathered: the base color is a Gunze mix, the details are painted with Vallejo acrylics. I added two Jaguar figures, which are very finely cast: Here are some pics of the completed kit. The base coat is done with Tamiya TS30 spray can, decanted in a bottle and applied with the airbrush. All the markings are painted with masks, except for the tail symbol, which was cut from white decal sheet. The green mottles are done with Gunze paint, thinned with isopropyl alcohol. A build a small base with foam board. The concrete slabs are done with cardboard from a Kellog's box (!). The water puddles are done with Vallejo still water, which I used for the first time and found very realistic. I hope you will like it, best, Christian.

  6. I started off doing one as a detail project, rescribing panels, detailing the seats etc but time kinda ran out as I intended them to be an xmas pressie, so had to finish one and start another. http://s1323.photobu...88/Bigusmickus/ http://i1323.photobu...ersfinished.jpg http://i1323.photobu...ABucresize3.jpg http://i1323.photobu...yBucresize3.jpg http://i1323.photobu...ucrescribed.jpg Got another 2 kits in the box and packets of 1:72 PE to make a Gulf War S.2 and a Ark Royal RN with wings folded and air brake open, also have the Revell Tornado GR1 to make a Tornado/Buc hunting pair.

  12. Built for a GB elsewhere. Good fun, a bit ill-fitting in places but nothing a bit fettling doesn't fix. The biggest problem is its sheer size for holding when painting etc. The decal placement instructions are poor though. They may be better in a newer boxing of the kit but the one I had wasn't clear at all. Finished with Xtracrlyix and a brush as XH562 of No.9 Squadron at RAF Waddington, in the Dark Green, Medium Sea Grey, Light Aircraft Grey scheme of the 1970s. For the top grey I used Neutral Grey FS 16270 as a close enough match for Medium Sea grey. Anyway here it is.

  18. I agree with you Vitor nevertheless, I will give it a go with the Airfix kit since I already have it (somewhere) in my stock. if I see that it doesn't take me anywhere near the result I would like to achieve then, I can always give it away as a gift and go and buy the Hobby Boss model!!!! Cheers Sernak

Hello Friends I started this kits a couple months ago but unfortunately my mom get sick and i didn't had the mood for kits for some time now, fortunately my mother is getting better so im getting better too and i returned to the bench with the Mil Mi-2 that i put here last week. I started here a WIP and i will put there the pictures that i took, for now i will show it already done. I didnt find many references pictures (only some in museums showing new aircrafts) so i didn't make it very very dirty... only with some use... I hope you like it, thank you for looking. 24. Sea Harrier FA3, 801 squadron, near Ascension island. The Royal Navy was not entirely satisfied with the Sea Harrier 2 and were looking at a replacement. They were looking at the Harriers from the RAF and envied them for their modern stuff. Because the RAF Harrier force had to shrink there were comming some harriers GR 7's free for the FAA. These were accepted and were rebuild with the Blue Vixen radar sets taken from the Sea Harrier 2 force. Because the GR 7's were originaly meant to be attack aircraft, the FAA also got a good ground attack airplane for its forces. Because of the start of the economic crisis the Royal Navy had to cut back. The cutback meant that the Royal Navy had to give up their carrier including the Sea Harrier force. It also meant that the forces to defend the Falklands was given up and there was only a small force of Royal Marines left there. The Argantinians saw their chances growing to get the Malvinas back. Just a few months before the carriers including the Sea Harriers were mothbaled the Argantinians atacked again the Falklands and took them. Again it was made the decision to free the citizens from the Falklands. Also the finding of oil and Gas reserves there were taken into this decision. The Sea Harrier seen here is enroute to the Falklands on HMS Ark Royal, just before the second Falkland war started. bulding tread here : http://www.britmodel...topic=234927316 cheers,

  25. Good luck making that look like a Spitfire 22! Think that will test even your skills. As for the PB4Y-1, I take it you will of course be making the undercarriage and lower turret accurate AND retractable? Welcome to the party Fred. Having built the two Airfix kits I know they are a bit, shall we say, basic. As for that Starfix kit: can't recall when it was first moulded but given the only part of it that bears even a passing likeness to a Spitfire is the title on the box I'd say you were safe to use it in this GB. Can we make that a new rule?

  30. What a mad looking Spitpest! Or is it a Tempfire? The lines still shout Tempest to me but in an almost cartoon-esque manner. It does have a unique character and I'm sure provides a cracking link from your recent Tempest builds across to the Spitfires in your collection.

  42. James, I have to agree with you on the Dak and Sea King prices, in fact the Sea King is just downright cheeky at that price! However, something to ponder with the Lancs. Sure, Revell's one is cheaper, but you'll need to buy some wheels at about £3 to replace the awful ones in the kit, or indulge in some serious scratchbuilding. And to add the dropped flaps (that Airfix's spiel says their new Lancs will come with), you'll need to fork out an eye watering £16.70 for the Eduard brass etch set or a much more reasonably priced Airwaves one for £6.63 and adapt it to fit the Revell kit, unless you're confident of your scratchbuilding skills! So, Revell Lanc(£18.99)+CMK Wheels(£3.50)+Eduard Flaps(£16.70)=nearly Hasegawa prices!(£39.19). And you'll still have to sort the dihedral in the wing.... Even if you use the Airwaves set to obtain the flaps, you still come in at £29.12 for a Lanc to the same level of detail as the proposed new Airfix ones. So, yes the price might seem expensive at first glance, but when you look at what you get for your money and break it down, I can't help but think the new Lancs will be quite good value for money. Especially when you consider that the current route to a Lanc Mk.II is going to cost you £79.97 (CMK conversion + Airfix kit) at the least and an excruciatingly painful £108.98 (CMK conv + Revell kit) if you choose a different option.* If you shop around, you'll be able to find better prices, but then that's time that could(maybe should) be spent building models! £24.99 for a nicely detailed, dropped flap option Lanc Mk.II with decals by Cartograf? I'll be buying one! Of course, this is just speculation at the moment, as Airfix might do a CyberHobby on us and totally screw the pooch in terms of accuracy! However, I'm quietly optimistic that won't ever be the case. Mark. *All prices quoted are taken from the listings on Hannants website, including stuff listed as Special Offers.
