  2. Hi. Since the F-15 STGB doesn´t start until after the holidays I had to pick something else from the stash to keep me busy. I've got two week off from work. And this is what I plan to keep me occupied with. Airfix Super Etendard 1/48 scale. To be continued....... /Bosse

  3. Although I had intended to post pictures of the finished build, I thought it best if I waited for the base to arrive. So here she is, after a very nice, fun build.

  4. Hi all, I have been doing a project diary in the Work In Progress section over the last few days for my Mosquito PR I. We have arrived back at the present, so here are the pictures of the completed model. And a final one of the cockpit area... My deepest thanks to all those who helped me get the details right. That's all, folks! Cheers, Jim

  6. Hasegawa 1:72 kit with plenty of modifications. It was painted with AKAN acrylics intended for early RAF, but the green was way off, so I used AirVallejo dark green. I hope you like it. Cheers! Josip

  9. Everything is done to such a beautiful high standard. My personal favorites are the Harrier GR-3 and the Phantom FG-1 in RN colors. But all of them make for great eye candy. Nice work!

  11. Great build of the notorious tailsitter.. mine had the whole jar of spare nuts and bolts stuffed into the forward empennage , and then I still had to glue lead fishing line sinkers into the cockpit...I replaced the plastic gear with whitemetal...

  13. Man, are you some kind of modelling machine that just builds 24 hours a day, every day? Super job, again!

  14. A very interesting conversion Jan. I've always thought that the two-seater (sadly gone now) is more aesthetically pleasing than the single seater. Your work is certainly doing it justice. Trubbie

  17. OK. So, here they are!!! From the latest issued kit from Airfix, the F-51 Mustang and dressed in an early post war RCAF scheme representing 9566, VC-FBN of a test unit based at Rivers, Manitoba, Canada 1953. It took me about four evenings to build. paint and decal this model spending around 2-2.5 hrs per evening. Decals from one of the many options on the Leading Edge decals for the Eastern units. VERY GREAT care needed in applying the large underwing lettering in order to not get them wrapped around themselves!! No filler on the build and I just love the post war H-S square tipped prop! A lot, lot better than any of the aftermarket ones I've seen and used. A beauty!! Alcladded, but I met the same problem as my last one with the paint attacking the primer and plastic underthe primer!! A sand down re prime and older bottles of Alclad saved the day and I managed to destroy the aerial mast cutting it from the sprue and waiting to make a new one!!! The prop markings, some stencils and instrument panel decal from the kit decals. A Merry Christmas everyone here and overseas!!! Now onto another......

  18. Great job! Actually the loss of the original Heller wheels is not a very big one. V-P

  19. I'm pretty sure when you come to do yours it'll be alot easier for you but you'll see how bad the fuselage really is. I'm looking forward to doing the P38, I spent 12 years working with the stuff but never on models! Cheers Tom. Thanks Woody, not fully caught it.. as no detail is going on the inside bar a small bit of cockpit detail once the nose is off. The Mil-4 is tucked away, I moved house and everything got put in boxes. The problem is where I've moved into (It's a coach house but more like a studio apartment) has no loft, was built up into and the conservatory is to cold. (awaiting heating to go into it) so until that is done I can't carry it on. I've done some more work on it so I could update the thread, keep an eye out after new year

  20. Just a quick update before hitting the road for the holidays (been a crazy month or so, with little time for the boards, so apologies for my absence!). As you can see, got the rest of the camo on. Have just a bit more touching up to do where my masking job didn't qutie cut it, then I can apply the first clear coat before moving on:

  21. A few of these were started in 2011, but they were all finished this year - honest! There are more here than I remember finishing too First to roll off the production line was my build review take on Revell's new B-17G, converted to an RAF Fortress III. Next was a quick build review of the 3D Kits conversion parts for the Airfix Spitfire Mk.IX. Then came the Cyberhobby Sea Vixen. Derided by many, built by few, but this was actually the most enjoyable model I have built for review all year. Of course having the Pavla corrected radome and cockpit helped! With a toddler running around the house, modelling time has been in short supply, so I've done quite a few single-engined fighters this year. This is the old Hasegawa Ki-61 Tony. Another review kit. Another pair of kits that were started eons ago but only finished this year. Hobbyboss's Typhoon and Akula class Soviet subs in 1:700 scale Next up was a kit I picked up for a few quid at the Hamex show in November 2011. Hasegawa's rarely seen Mosquito. Good fun and viceless to build. Another build review in the shape of Revell's 1:72 Ju 88A-4, along with three Eduard etch sets. The last one of the year was probably my favourite. Hasegawa's excellent Grumman Hellcat, finished as a Martlet. As someone correctly pointed out, this particular aircraft shouldn't have wing folds though. Oh well

  22. Spending best part of all day searching around i've found a 617 decal sheet by xtradecal with the following aircraft on 3 versions of the Lancaster - ED906, NG494, NX791 Mustang III - HB837 Mosquito MK.VI - NT202 Avro Vulcan MK.2 - XL392 Tornado GR.4 ZA367 or ZA601 Not as many aircraft as i was originally going to do but i think the main craft are there so i'll be doing them. After a lengthy conversation with my Nan i found out the serial my Grandad was supposed to fly on and its ED906 which was the Lancaster that carried out the 5th attack on the Mohne Dam in May 1943 causing the breach as it says on the xtradecal sheet. Due to illness he missed out on that raid. I think if i do the aircraft listed above i would've covered the main operational craft

  24. As an aside, I have a good book I picked some years ago, The Thames and Hundson Manual of Rendering with Pen and Ink. by Robert W Gill ISBN 0-500-68026-4. It has some interesting notes on perspective and grids as well as it's main topic rendering (shading), which might be worth looking at for anyone wanting to further their studies in techniques.

  25. Thanks for the kind words everybody! Sorry I've not posted in a while but i had a breakdown but with the help of m y therapist, I'm doing better now! Not 100%, but I'm getting there! Well, how much have i done??.... Well, i've added a floor to the pit from fizzy drink can, also added some rudder pedals, added a few more bits to the pit and added the ejection firing handles. You may have noticed ive added a couple of more little pieces to the seat tops as well! Thanks for bearing with me as well guys! Nobby
