  2. Separate ailerons. elevators and rudders? Back to the early Sixties. The next step will be retractable undercarriages (but fixed doors).
  3. With you there. Had a few struggles with thin Airfix plastic with my current Bictor build too.
  4. Great progress there! I agree about etch - it's an absolute *B*! Cheers, Mark
  5. Superb Sea Gladiator work, Chris, the Mercury is looking incredible! Great to see the Dub is back together and gracing the highways and byeways once again - cracking work there, too! Cheers, Mark
  6. As the title says, Happy birthday Roy
  7. Very nicely painted and weathered. Nice one! 😎👍
  8. You're right. I made the mistake of confusing different La planes made of wood and metal.
  9. Hi Gerard, I used Tamiya XF-82 RAF Ocean Grey, Xtracolor ANA 613 Olive Drab and Xtracolor Light Gull Grey. Many regards Matt 🙂

  11. Thanks Stef, its coming together nicely Cheers Darryl, I hadn't planned on using as much as I have so far, but it does look nice. Thanks Paul, the drawings are great and really useful with chiseling off bits that aren't needed, Marcos bases are fantastic ive got a couple now and really impressed. The top deck isn't stuck down yet the rear deck is a tight fit so will need to clamp down once I glue the top down. Cheers Keith, its all coming together nicely, not to much etch left to stick on. Cheers Stix, I haven't glued my fingers together to many times. Cheers Mick Thanks Simon, I always feel slightly bad for painting over all the etch detail, one day I may keep one unpainted. Ive got the side skirts on, I used making tape as a guide foe the level then cut the lugs off with a sharp scalpel. and I'm happy with the way its all turned out.
  12. Was excited seeing a V12 Vantage S behind the 914 but realized it was a Roadster (which is not as pretty as the coupe) so it kinda lost its attraction. The Fulvia Sport Zagato, ChromaFlair Tuscan S and that Mercury Silver Alpine A110 GT though... absolutely love them all.
  13. Thanks Yg, appreciate it! Did a bit more on this last night, I was working on the highlights of the jacket, so I boosted them some more by using pure caledor sky, and then a final step of caledor sky with a bit of white in (dont want to add too much so the colour stays nice and strong) IMG_20240422_193609382 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20240422_194009441 by Nick Frost, on Flickr Then I moved on to his helmet highlights using the same colours, as its metal I did some edge highlighting and made sure to highlight the cracks and scratches too. IMG_20240422_201018274 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20240422_201441320 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20240422_201614484 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20240422_201628142 by Nick Frost, on Flickr At this point I also noticed that I missed a bit of his suit at the bottom, I thought under his belt was the base but it is actually the top bit of his legs so I just gave that a coat of night lords blue. And I'll leave it at that, I wont highlight that part as its down the bottom and its in shadow from the pouches. IMG_20240422_202006336 by Nick Frost, on Flickr IMG_20240422_202017663 by Nick Frost, on Flickr So now the highlights on the jacket are done, but I still want to add a strong one to his helmet on the right hand side. IMG_20240422_202138714 by Nick Frost, on Flickr If you look in the above photo, I was initially thinking maybe I'd gone to bright with the highlight on his chest but actually the thing that throws it off a bit is the helmet is darker. It needs a highlight of the same strength just on the right hand side that is facing forward where his head is turned slightly, and also I may blend that highlight a little higher up his chest too. So thats all to come next, I think I'll get the red down on the helmet too to help get a better sense of how its looking overall. Thanks for looking, more soon
  14. Currently out of stock but the whip is being cracked on me to organise another batch!
  15. More looking at the Air Britain book and the Putnam volume by Don Brown (long term Assistant to FG Miles) don't show any reference to larger wings for G-ADWT. It started life as an M.2W but was probably modified to M.2Y standard befoe the spinning trials. The difference seems to have been a horn balanced rudder and stronger tailplane spar. There is a photo of G-AENT which was an M.2Y with a horn balanced rudder in the AB book. As the cure for the spinning issue was all done at the tail with strakes, raised tailplane and, finally, a larger rudder on the M.14A version of the Magister I'm sceptical about the larger wings, despite the wording of the report on the G-ADWT trials. The February 1937 report on the G-AENT crash (reproduced in the AB book) mentions further tests by Miles and says "In general the Firm are satisfied, as a result of these further tests, that this type of aircraft will come out of the spin under any circumstances tried". It seems unlikely that "the Firm" would create a new set of wings if they hadn't seen a problem in their trials. There is a hint in the detailed history in the AB book that some modification was done to ADWT in early 1937 as the CofA was renewed but it is assumed this was the work done to bring it to M.2Y standard. It does give room for speculation about other changes but I don't know where you would find any evidence.
  16. It does, fascinating. Love the scheme too with the thick black bands at the wingtips.
  17. Two Tamiya classics re-visited. I intend to swap the hull sides and rears between them to make both vehicles more accurate. With a few more tweaks the very rare M3A2 becomes the far more common M3A1. But it's the nicely posed crew figures that really attract me to doing these again after so many years.
  18. Absolutely beautiful build of a stunning car. French elegance at its best. I have a few of the Provence Facels and I hope I can get a simliar result from them.
  19. Yes, looks like a tool alignment issue on the E sprue as the 2 halves of the mould are slightly out with a noticeable lip on the sprue. Had a look at Nigel's video, he has posted a further update yesterday and mentioned that airfix have seen his video and have raised a quality issue for it. Hopefully it will be fixed on the next batch.
  20. 3D Polish Wings is to release 1/24th, 1/32nd, 1/48th & 1/72nd - Piper Seneca III aka PZL M-20 "Mewa" 3D printed kits. Source: https://www.facebook.com/groups/695711033832473/posts/25129124856731084/ 3D renders in progress V.P.
  21. Thank you gentlemen! Andrew, the links att the bottom does not work, but then I found out that the narrow photos at the top can be expanded, lots of useful info there! I'll spend som time tonight loading them down.. Mike, it seems like the Wolf book is something to get. But it's not inexpensive and the postage from the US is eye-watering, often more than the book itself. Will keep looking however, hopefully I can find a used copy within EU with decent postage. I have found and ordered two references that both seem interesting: A smaller Schiffer book and the Squadron B-26 Marauder Walk Around, both by David Doyle. Let's see what they will bring. This technical/modelling aspects are going to get interesting and possibly complicated. -I've seen pics on the net with both "naked" ammo belts and in flexible chutes for the nose gun. -The Ammo boxes for the tail guns seem to be forward of the waist compartment. The ammo is led all the way rearward in long fixed rails/roller tracks along the wall and finally in flexible chutes. The last few decimeters the ammo is naked running on rollers into the guns themselves. -I've not seen pics of the waist gun ammo boxes yet. However, this situation is indeed interesting. When it comes to Spitfires, Mustangs, Zeros and Messerschmitts, there are lots of kits, references, walk-arounds, aftermarket items and decals available. As for the Marauder in 1/48 there has been no new kits for many, many years. 1978 when both Monogram and AMT released theirs, the rest are reboxes, really. The dedicated aftermarket items are also rather limited. Now with the new ICM kit I expect some kind of revival regarding the Marauder. It will be very interesting to follow this!
  22. Good tot see the mighty Sea King getting some attention Colin, especially as you plan on building an early one.
