  2. Good ole Fimo again. Tried a Giger baby with a maggoty vibe
  3. Truly hideous! Mind explaining what the exclamation point is made of? The top bit looks like a piece of the alien space ship, but the point? Not so much
  4. Also. Looking seriously now at the prospect of doing the egg silo as I've got a load of the eggs and don't think I want to apply them to the sides of the Jockey scene as I still think that would be tacky! Also. Looking at the Derelict and thinking Hmmmmm! a 30-40 inch version of this would be a challenge! Also. Got an avatar based on my favourite punctuation mark! !
  5. Yeah that's some nice chipping! Impressive steady hand after a possum attack
  6. Gunning to have the seat section in the mold on Saturday (break day). Figured that if I set a target I can cut off from tweaking and scratching both it and my head. Still looking to pull out as much detail as I can from it. Sunday could possibly be cast day and if good will mean the end of the Jockey... I am sad! Oh yeah. I can work the hole and then. Astronauts... Yay!
  7. That looks like about enough chips (I ordered the fish as well!?) So on with the grime. (And salt and vinegar please). I didn't know that Possums could climb. An educational thread, nice.
  8. After chasing a possum from the house this morning, fun times that. Poor bugger fell down the chimney and couldn't get out. I have been chipping away at the little mech. I need to take a break as my eyes and will to live are going. No it's not that bad I just find I have only a limited amount of imagination and after a bit all my chips look much the same. I'm not good at this kind of weathering so this is good practice. I think he at least look good on his base. Lots more stains and grime planed but he's looking a bit more lived in. Thanks for looking in. Dan

  10. Great job, the texture on the metal is a work of art in itself! I also love the burned metal effect.
  11. Nicely done and, like the others, looking close to what was pictured inside my head. I have a plan to read the whole lot of Discworld books again. They're sitting on the shelf ready and waiting.* * All except that last one about the steam trains. It was awful!
  12. Resurrecting this post with another addition to The Watch. Ladies and Gentlemen, Captain Delphine Angua von Überwald Not my favourite figure of the series which is why she has been on the "stalled" bench for some time. I actually managed to snap her legs trying to correct her pose. I have repaired the legs by pinning them and repositioning. She still seems to be sort of leaning back. Hey ho. Vallejo acrylics and metallics.
  13. Thinking of a side project. U.S.S. Giger NCC 1978
  14. First one out of the mold to clean the mold out. Got a good mold Yay! The best part is that it all interlocks well with the cannon and the back plate bit and the seat/nose section. Still need to tweak the 'spindle' bit between the two front struts as this was a finicky thing from the outset. Will get there. Now soley working the main part... the seat section so a bit of clean up and some etching and a teeny bit more sculpting and should be winging its way to the mold stage soooooooon. Yay!
  15. Guessing that if I ever want to do a Jean Luc Picard minature! Not quite Kane... yet!
  16. Thanks so much for looking and commenting everyone, really appreciate it! Yeah he's had an absolute mare of a day... :)
  17. A bit of progress; This is the first time I have tried the "Night Shift". Paint the ground overall black and then paint all the scenery. It's a learning process. The base is an unturned couch leg I bought from the hardware shop, edged with some 2.5mm square Evergreen styrene stock. This leaves about a 70mm square platform that is a good size for these figures and my little egg planes. The 'concrete' is good old cork sheeting and the bricks are some 1/24 precast bricks from? I'm not sure where. some broken plaster bits all glued down with matt medium. Then every thing got a good shot of black, then a bunch of very thin coats of grey and brick red colours with an airbrush. Followed by hand painting in the bricks and rocks with acrylics and a bunch of oil paint washes to get the shadow back. Lots of work but fun to do on this small a base. ( I don't think I could sustain my interest in a much bigger area.) Could be a lot better and I'm am thinking of a few more highlight to get the bricks to pop bait more but... I do get easily distracted. It will do for a nice base for the little model. More to do on the model but that's for another time. Dan
  18. Love this, the pose and the details with the paint give it some real character 👌
  19. The thinner is going to depend on the paints you plan to use. If you have a preferred paint type/brand, I can probably give you some tips James
  20. Nice. Discovery is also on my list of Real Space stuff to do. We were in Florida on our Honeymoon when the Discovery launched in '86 so got to see it, albeit from Orlando as the the roads were blocked from 4-5am getting to the Cape/Merritt Island. We could still see it pushing through the clouds though, even 60 miles away! However, back then, the KSC tour bus took you *very* close to launch pad 39b, so I actually got to see the Discovery on the launchpad which was cooool! We've been many times to Florida and I've seen several launches (though not from Merritt Island unfortunately, Indian Rocks was about the closest). I did have the revell kit many years ago, but it didnt survive the house move. I brought it back from Florida lol, from a store in Central Orlando called NCC1701! Later visits, they had an extension built called NCC1701-A Would like maybe to build Enterprise too (as that was in the opening sequence to Enterprise TV Show), to complement the other Enterprise (and NX-01) that *will* be in my stash, as I too, like you, is a Trekker (nice Kelvin build btw!). Though I wonder if I got the Revell Discovery and Enterprise from the new series too how space will be needed! arrg!
