What paints should I use for the pinks? Im doing BAAB for now, the 1-11 will be done at a later date!

the lower part of the fuse is orange...

then a darker pink and the brightest shade for the upper fuse - when I did mine I simply mixed the paint until it looked right to me

very faded colours in that image - the lower fuselage was orange; trust me it was.
then you had the lower silver cheat
then a darker shade of pink
and the upper cheat;
then the upper fuse, which was a bright pink

thanks Chris, I went to my LMS and got a can of pink for the upper colour, Tamiya Spray for £1! was selling old stock! Got a Humbrol Red in the rail match that will go nicely with some white added.
Now to crack out the airfix tristar and some time!

Having seen the original aircraft many times I beg to differ Kev. I have some colour transparancies that I took at Gatwick many moons ago so I'll have to scan them before I can post.

I concur Chris, BAAA was Orange and BAAB was Pink, saw them both many times a Luton

Hi the colors were pastel shades and not bold colors that is why they look faded just asked my father he worked at luton for monarch on brits when they were in service

That was the subject which began the pink/orange debate many years ago !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As an ex-Courtline/Autair engineer I can say with authority that the bottom of the pink aircraft was pink, never orange. The yellow scheme had an orange belly, but the pink scheme was three tones of pink;- and a bit much under bright hangar lights in the middle of a night shift!

I always felt the green was the most pleasent, but possibly not good for those prone to airsickness!

The Courtline logos were self adhesive material with a high gloss chrome finish when new. They were actually perforated to aid application but this was only obvious up close. They were a magnet for lightning strikes.

The paints were polyurethanes and did not weather or fade very quickly, in fact during my time, (I left at the end of 1973), the finishes remained remarkably fade free compared to the pre-polyurethane finishes I had been used to.
