Hi Folks,

Welcome to the World Motorsport Group Build.

We're officially confirmed and the Group Build will begin on Saturday 19th January 2008, and will run until Thursday 31st July. We've got a while to go yet before the start, but I thought I'd put up the info officially in here as we've now got a sub-forum!

This Group Build will encompass all forms of Motorsport from around the world, therefore anything that has taken part in an officially sanctioned race is applicable. There's soooo much to choose from, so you shouldn't be stuck for subjects! Should make for a colourful Group Build anyway!

The rules will be fairly simple...

  • Your kit must be unstarted, or in the very early stages (if unsure, then ask).
  • No 'What if's' allowed.
  • Any scale is allowed.
  • Your model can be out of the box, or with gazillions of aftermarket extras, or even somewhere in between... let your wallet decide!
  • The winners will be decided by a poll at the end of the group build.

This basically covers it for now, but if there are any questions then please ask!

Roll on the 19th January!

Karl.

Hmm, 19th January. That just gives me enough time to sort out which model I shan't finish before the end of the build!!
keefr22
Koool!! I'm in please!

Now, shall I stick to my original choice of a rally car - or do 2 Jaguar group builds to finish next year??!! hmmm.gif

Still, plenty of time to decide......!!

I had better add myself in here!

I have been invited to co-moderate this build with Karl as he feels he'd like a more experienced GBer on hand to help him out. Fair enough say I, and a great subject to boo!

So, welcome one and all to the Britmodeller World Motorsport GB clap2.gif

Jen.
dswoofie
Thanks Jen! Guess I should have introduced you before now (smacked paws for me!). I've been a bit busy today!

Karl.

I'm there, or rather I'm in smile.gif
Ponti
I'm here. Will have to get into the loft and find the kits.
PHIL B
I'm in. Hmm, now I have to find the easiest, most simple small scale kit so I have a chance of finishing it inside 6 months. How about a Kelloggs giveaway?
Grant
I might be in... I need some motivation to get on with the Williams F1 car I started months ago. If it is not too far built already that is? The build thread and pics are here.

I reckon there is still loads of work required on that one, and if the mods agree I WILL finish it during the GB.

cheers

If I may, I would lke to participate - with Porsche 017 please; but upon the strict understanding that I do not have to be civil in any shape or form to ole Fester.

Sure thing Karl, when I get some time I'll make a few generic ones, F1, Sportscar, Rally, Drag etc.

Cheers

Thanks Doc! biggrin.gif

You've only gone and picked my joint top motorbike hero, Hizzy bow.gif
Not actually building a Duke at all, but I loves 'em I do! If you can be bothered, I'd love it if you put the left half of the Loris one with Hizzy. Then I wouldn't have to apeear to be promoting Shakey.............. laugh.gif

Doc

If you could squeeze one in with a Rothmans 956/962 any time over the next few months it would be rather splendid biggrin.gif wink.gif

OK Jen, here ya go......

Something against Shakey then?

Really when you research just how many world class riders have raced with a Duke it's astonishing from Hailwood to Stoner and most inbetween including Hizzy, Fogarty, Corser, and even me old mukka Trevor Nation.

Cheers

Doc, you are, officially, ACE! yahoo.gif

I don't have anything against Shakey as such, but he shouldn't be placed in the same picture as Hizzy.....
I watched Trevor Nation getting changed the other year at the Festival of Speed innocent.gif

Hi Gang,

I thought that I would show you these, they're not eligible as I completed them quite a few years ago:

Fujimi 1/24 Ford GT40 Mk.II, Le Mans 1966.

Graham Endeacott 1/1 Ford GT40 1966 Road Car - I should enter this one as it is in pieces at the moment! analintruder.gif

I'm a bit late, but can I play?

I have three 'MOPARS' that I think will fit into this catagory.

'69 Dodge Charger Daytona
'70 Plymouth Superbird
'90's Dodge Intrepid R/T NASCAR '40 Coors Light'

I can't decide which one to do though.

Cheers.
dswoofie
You're not late, we've only just got going!

Hmmm which one eh!... Why only one I say, do 'em all!

Karl.

Cool!

Do I just kick off my own build thread or is there a special GB one I need to post in?

Cheers!

I retrieved the 3 kits I was considering at the weekend, all 1/43:

JPS Lotus 79 (1978 world champ)

Williams FW14B (1992 world champ)

Renault RE40 (1983 British GP winner)

Still haven't decided which one to do first. The Renault is the easiest, but may require modifications to the exhaust. The Lotus is a gorgeous car, but needs some refinement as it's all white metal, no photo-etch, consequently things like the side skirts and rear wing endplates need thinning/replacing. The Williams is the best of the 3 kits, although I'm not sure how best to simulate the Brummie whinging from the driver figure!

Can I add my 1/12th Ducati 888?? I have build pics from when it was just a bunch of sprues!! analintruder.gif
Erwin
Hi all,

I don't intend to join this GB as I only build WW-2 planes.

But I have a complete and unstarted Matchbox that I an trying to get rid off. This GB is perhaps the best place to do it.

20 Euros, incluiding postage inside Europe. WW =25 Euros
