I miss the old girl was a dream to work on sad to say goodbye I've got some really sad photos at the end the Cosford ones are the worse I'll fish them out if you lot want to see them?

this second photo is a rare one its on the roof so non of the public or spotters got to see it. I don't think.

Oh man, how cool are those paw prints?
Any more photos you'd care to share would be most welcome, it's great to hear about the stories behind the aircraft.

Here are a few more pictures:

This is the Mod 12 Re-heat of the Adore mk 106

This is what you guys didn't see ill cats this one has the pitot/static DRUCK tester attached also the Auto Stabs test set connected can't remember what for but probably more likely to have been part of an UFCM investigation.

This one is really sad its the final resting place of the cats at DCAE Cosford I went down there to strip the vital bits from them, which are generic across various airframes. weep.gif weep.gif weep.gif weep.gif weep.gif weep.gif weep.gif weep.gif weep.gif weep.gif

We seem to decommissioning Jags as if we're in a hurry. Why are we rendering them down to useless parts immediately upon stand-down, when the US keeps loads of their kit on standby for years? Seems odd... as if someone doesn't want them to be used again hmmm.gif

Surely, a Jag that was airworthy one day can't be completely useless the next? Are the airframes time expired? Is it a communist plot to leave us without any backup aircraft if there's a war that ends up with a lot of casualties? My Conspiracy Theory sense is tingling blink.gif

Hi there,
first mention of mod 12 I've seen or head of since I can't remember when!!!!
The shortages of engines due to the fuel pipe weld breaking was frequent on Bruggen Jags.
Usual de-brief: No Re-Heat on Eng ? - Had Max Fuel Flow - Tried several times - Can you guys have a look ! -
Was you a Sootie or Rigger?

Your pic of test boxes reminded me that the Jag did have good points at being able to plug in a test set inc engine sets.

Last pic is very sad but Cosford is probably a better home than these mistreated feline ladies!!!! weep.gif

Right then I'll start here the jags were flown to cosford to become ground trainers for new techies the Jag is a wonderful easy airframe to work on for simple tasks but a pig for the things which usually go wrong.

The airframes are 6000 hrs + so yes time ex they did start to show their age near the end anyway the pilots flew the jets into Cosford which has an extreemly short runway so thats why they pulled the chutes before touchdown, but as you say can it fly the next day yes it could have done but the runway is to short they would never get off the deck in time, plus the spares are generic bits which plug straight into other aircraft it makes sense as these system will never get used in a training environment.

Oh I'm a fairey an honorary sooty and armourer, I liked to help the other trades when the fairies didn't have much work on, so I know a fair few parts on the ADOUR mk106 engine, especially the petals, if any one out there knows me lol.
