Just to say hi to all,
I have been modelling for about the last 7 years, currently I am building 3 yes 3 1/48 Jaguars 2x Gr3a's 1x T4 with the excellent paragon T2/4 conversion plus other parts, the reason I workd on/with Jaguar and Avionics.
I have served 5 years on 54f Sqn 1 year in the avionics bay and 1 year on the last Raf Jaguar Sqn Number 6, I also had the sad job of stripping the jets at DCAE cosford and working on the last 3 specials,
So if there is any info required on jaguar its avionics etc how it operated please ask, I've seen for myself the excellent T4 by neil and I can say that it is in every essence a Jaguar T4.

Oh I've built 4 of the main legs like neils on the T4 they aren't that to bad to do.

Thanks for the welcome don't think I will be able to finish the jags before mar 08 but I'll have a go only got to the stage of cutting out the flaps slats on number 1 but the landing gear is coming on a treat though.

Oh read an earlier thread about back seaters I had one as from the avatar lol the best 1hr45 ever got to fly the beast and do aerobatics drop a bomb and buzzed a boat on lake windermere with full burners on awesome.

Ahhh just the fella I'm after! I'm currently doing XX119 for the GB any chance you have any top view photos of the jaguar livery? The photos I have found online are mostly side views.

Welcome to the forum, it must be a real joy to fondly the real things as well as the plastic versions.. a true passion!.. I got a question (hope its not a silly one) but why did they call it a jaguar?.. I know with some of the older WW2 planes etc, I can see the features of what looks like an animal etc, like the wildcat I can see an almost cartoon like cat face shape and the Focke Wulf 190 does have that sleeky wolf look but I dont know if thats just me..

Nope not un UKAR these pics were taken at a private preview by me so there might be others around the avatar is me when i went on my back seater on the full sized picture you can see the HUD image the scenary outside and my eyes just peering through the sun visor.

Welcome Wardy- ignore some of the others- they're bonkers!

But I need to ask a question- why ditch the three suspension undercarriage legs on the Jag, and replace with four of Neil's legs? I don't think I've ever even seen a reference photo or walkaround article on his legs. I suppose there are those on here that have- maybe they would like to share...? What do you have to do- I suppose you have to either ditch the stores or shorten the weapons pylons- maybe take the centre line pylon off altogether?

Curiosity really, but amongst all the liveries blobs just ahead of the tail it looks like the letters 'JDC' are included and a leaping jaguar above:-



Or am I just seeing things Interested if you know anything about this or what it stands for.

The letters below the leaping Jaguar are JDG and stand for Joe, Dave and Gary who were the guys from Jaguar cars who assisted in the paint job. The paint job was "sponsored" by Aircraft Illustrated and Jaguar Cars and the RAF "rules" preclude sponsorship marks appearing on their aircraft. To get around this the code letters of XX119 were changed to AI (on the nose gear door) and the leaping Jaguar and initials added to the "spots" in discrete recognition of their participation.

Ive not ditched the legs just detailed them but in the same fashion as neil did on his T4, at the moment I'm building 3 1/48 kits 2 GR3a's and a T4 xx119 EB or AI the spotty jag, xx112 GA 54(f) Sqn special from 2005 which will remind me of the time I spent on 54(f) Sqn and EZ xx847 the jet I had my back seater in, so I have 6 main legs and 3 nose legs, so far I have completed 4 legs, 1 nose leg and 3 main legs, it takes time to bend the wire and place it on but as i am bilding for 3 Jets all I do is cut tubing etc once use it as a jig then proceed to cut for the others that way they are all identical.

I'll get some photos as for my build so far the T bird is the most advanced not by much though the gr3a's are still in the boxes except for the bits which are identical across the board, why do it 3 times when you can do it once then store them until the progress on the others get to the same stage :-)

I do have one problem though quite a big one I havent actually finished a build completely I have got to the stage of painting but I have no airbrush compressor so the few kits I have done are in either primer from a can or bare plastic lol
