I have been through my books at the weekend and i don't have a single photo of a Jag landing with the parachute deployed!. All of mine are just about to land. Anybody got anything, also if you have a photo of the parachute housing. I beleive there is a good photo in the AEROGUIDE 31, not good if you don't have it!.

Cheers.

speedy,

There were plenty of photos of Jags deploying their parachutes (some before touchdown) on UKAR during the Jag retirement flights. If you do a search in ( Modern Military Photography Linky ) you should find what you are looking for.

these pictures were found on various sites all show the deployed chute, the can that the chute was in was about a metre long tubular but with two flat sides one end was shaped into a rooftop shape triangular the whole width across the curved edges with a whole with a bush in it which located into the aircraft the open end had a flange all the way around with a bracket on the top left which located eitherside of a corresponding bracket on the aircraft which when located properly had a pit pin through both parts to keep the can in place, all that could be seen in a freshly packed chute was the drogue chut pack a cube pack with four triangular flaps on the front with a metal loop on the inner flap which went through them all then a remove before flight tag and thick metal wire through it to stop it springing open, once located in the jet the brake chute bucket was pushed up and locked into position then a pit pin was placed in the port side to stop it from opening then the long metal wire was pulled out of the brake chute drogue pack then the chute was ready to deploy once the out housing opened. :-)
