Hi all,

Well, seeing as how it looks like my 'started' Jag is OK to enter, here's the first couple of pics just to show how little I'd done. I said in my post asking if it was OK to enter this in the GB that I'd started about a year ago - the pics actually show a date of 1/12/2005 - & I actually started a couple of weeks before that!! Gawd I'm slow..... sleeping.gif

Anyways, here's the (naff) pics!

Fuselage halves of pristine kit compared to the one I've butchered (I'll let you work out which is which tongue.gif !!)

And the two fuselage halves on their own showing the removed panels (The plasticard I've used to start to box them in was white in this pic - it's been so long since I started this thing that it's now turned yellow!!)

OK, That's all folks
Keef

PS Next update won't be for a fair while, as I have 3 projects to complete for the Nats before I can get back to this!!

You're off to an interesting start there Keef, lots of lovely detail just waiting to be packed in!
Crack on with the other projects and get them done out of the way, you've caught my attention with this one coolio.gif

Looking forward to seeing this one Keef.

Hope you have enough wire lying around for the engine compartment ohmy.gif

Cheers guys!

Yes Doc, I have plenty of wire - it's whether I have enough patience is the problem!! biggrin.gif

As to the scratchbuilt engine, I've found a piece of tube the right diameter..................!!!!! rolleyes.gif

Hi Keef,
I'm also looking forward to seeing those open panel areas filled with detail. What an undertaking!

Just one thing so far you need to take another 17mm from the front of where you have cut so far for the engine access door!!!

The kit panel line is understandably confusing but rest assured that is not realy a true engine access panel line. I fill mine in.

If you don't have any good pics to show you what I mean then PM me and I will forward some pics for you.
On part 43 build stage 8 you need to have 5mm from each side removed from it and add this to the fuselage half lower edge.

Also what line have you used along the lower edge of the door? It was NOT straight.

As both engine doors would be removed for servicing both a/brake actuating arms would be disconnected from the airbrake its self AND retracted .
Therefore both a/b's would be open further (if still fitted) than that of a normal operational situation.

Finally you will need to open up 3 panels along the top as these allowed for the engine removal hardware to be attached to the a/f.

Hi Adrian,

Excellent - many thanks for that info! I've got the "Jaguar - guardian of the skies" book as my prime reference & I have to admit that when I started to scratchbuild the engine (well, cut the tube to length!) & try it for size, that the bay seemed to be too short. It didn't dawn on me to check whether the panel line was in the right place!!

I've sent you a PM!!

Cheers
