Wow...a Spitfire from Trumpeter - up for almost a day and no observations yet?

Not even one about the A-10 style dive brakes? laugh.gif

Judging from pictures like these is difficult, guess everybody will wait to see the kit in the flesh
However, if you want a comment from someone that in this company is a very low ranking spit expert, it loos like a very interesting product, although I'm not too impressed by the fuselage sides around the cockpit as they look too "straight" to my eyes. How important this is, it's up to each taste.

It does look a little "slab sided" from the firewall back, but I am not going to make any judgements until I have seen some more photos.

The price will undoubtedly be high, but will it be as much as the Tamiya MkIX? I am sure Trumpeter would like to aspire to that price, but this would leave an anomalous situation as their 1/24 spits are currently cheaper.

Idle speculation over on LSP seemed to be pointing to about what the 109s from Trumpeter are going for. Perhaps it is as a result of other - lower priced - options being available such as The Hasegawa kit. I suspect sometimes we see 'monopoly' pricing when a kit is the only one available of a given subject, or scale

I like the dive brakes Matt, which version has those fitted innocent.gif

Yes, but speculation is so much fun. We can then decide whether the kit is any good before it has even been moulded and confidently recommend whether it should be acclaimed or denounced, thereby saving anyone the bother of of having to open the box. winkgrin.gif

Well, anyway, it looks like a Spitfire to me...... tongue.gif door.gif

One thing I am beginning to attempt to do is use the word 'observation' instead of critique or critisism when judging models by what is shown on a picture on line versus either someone who has it in thier hands or 'gasp' actually had built it. A bit less loaded of a term.

For me the split aerlerons were chuckle worthy, and I really hope for a Vc eventually, as there are many more varied paint schemes for The Spit Vc than there seemingly were for The Vb....especially think of the fun a whole megabite or two of discussion about Malta's blue Spitfires all over again!

Biggest problem I can see is that horrible flat cockpit floor!

By the looks of it you could probably leave it out. Problem solved. So how many companies have made a 1/32 spitfire now? (Any version)

Revell
Hasegawa
Pacific Coast
Tamiya
Trumpeter

Looks like we are pretty sourced for spitfire. Now for the variants whats missing?
TheModeller
It looks no worse than the Hasegawa kit which has been a staple for 1/32nd modellers for years, seems to suffer from the same fuselage cross-section problem as well.

Overall better than the Hase offering in as much as its a new tool, recessed panel detail and the engine included. Will that justify the price or not? That remains to be seen, personally I'll wait until I get my hands on the plastic for myself.

I'd say that it's just the two halves of the aileron not glued together by the test builder and posed open to shoe the thinness of the part.

IPMS Phillippines look at the kit so far
