Dogs feature frequently in many military disciplines, and finding good quality castings of the breeds typically used can sometimes be a little tricky.

Legend Productions have come to the rescue of those wishing to model German Shepherd dogs with this handy set of two hounds - one in a sitting position, the other on all fours and alert.

The familiar Legend style box contains a re-sealable bag in which are two dogs in multiple parts. The sitting dog simply requires a tail adding, while the standing dog has a poseable head to give your mutt a little more character.



Both castings are crisp, with plenty of fur detail all over, and a lot of moulding tricks used to ensure that the parts will mould properly. This comprises of lots of small strips of resin attached to large overhangs and delicate parts, all of which can be quickly and easily removed with deft use of a scalpel. Once painted and suitably placed in a diorama, these models will enhance the realism, once the modeller has added a lead or harness between the dog and handler as appropriate.

Careful reference to pictures of the markings of the real thing will pay dividends when painting, as the breed have many different variations on the general pattern of their overall coloring.

Conclusion
A useful little set for the 1:35 diorama modeller, with realistic poses and well rendered fur effect. Suitable for any modeller due to the simplicity of construction.
