Raymond just announced it on ARC and Z5 a half hour ago - so I figure I better get hopping to bring the breaking news over here

This is the Mirage 2000D the 'Strike Eagle' of the Delta 2K series, a conventionally armed variant of the nuclear capable 2000N.

No ETA yet....

Curious choice of kit

The Heller one is not a bad kit and was re-popped by Eduard not so long ago

Why not do a Mirage III E / Mirage V???

Never kitted properly in '48 (I am not counting the decrepit Esci/Italeri tooling) but operated by a ton of airforces - and allows you to do a Pantera, a Kfir (with some mods) and even a Cheetah (withe even more mods)

Hi,
Agree totally but suspect the Taiwan connection may have influenced the choice because I can't see them only doing the "D".

Still there's some nice schemes out there.

I'd heard about this a while back, but can't fault them for going mainstream with an eye on sales for their first outing into Mirage territory. I'm hoping this will see a branch deep into Mirageland, so if it sells well, perhaps we'll get see the more "off-piste" flavours in due course? happy.gif

Finally!!!!!!!! I want one NOW please!!!!!

If that's a "D" then they've missed the ECM dispense on the spine. Maybe that's to be added? Still got a couple Eduard versions in the stash!

Ok I have both heard from one and read by another source that he CADD is of an EARLY version of the kit design. So right now lets not get too worked up. In fact from what little I know about Mirage 2000s it looked to me more like a 2000-5 with the underfuselage MICA rails, versus a 2000-D with targeting pods.

<EDIT>
A quote from Laurent on ARC (Post #26 in thread noted in the first post) - from a French language forum:

A member of the Master194 forum (Eagle4) has done a good remarks: the CAD model corresponds a Taiwanese Mirage 2000-5Di, not to a French Mirage 2000D. If the kit is to be sold as a French plane, care will have to be taken on the specific features.

Wow looks liek I may know a bit more about Mirages than I first thought! laugh.gif

When you say the Mirage 2000 was nuclear, I didn't know that. i know the dedicated bomber, Mirage IV, is nuclear capable. Keeping me eyes on this one, could be a possible purchase!

The Mirage IV gave up the nuclear role quite a while ago, reverting to strategic recce before being retired. The M2000N is nuclear capable, the "D" is not. One quick way to tell them apart is the (current) camo; the "D" has a wrap around scheme whereas the "N" carries light grey undersides.

That's useful Graham, cheers! As you can probably tell, I'm not too well up on the Mirage family

If the kits based on the Taiwanese a/c, it won't have the spine chaff dispensers. As matt has said, the variant shown on the CAD looks like the 2000-5, the latest two-seater.

The tanks shown underwing are used by Tiawan and Greece. The French AF use the bulged tanks from the earlier 2000 series.

If you check out Renaissance Models, you will see a stack of goodies for a 2000-5. Also, using their bits, it's possible to rework it to a 2000D or N. Whatever you do, don't visit here for the sake of your wallet/credit card.

Lets hope a single seater is in the pipeline as well.

I can see where my money's going later this year! analintruder.gif
