Nice work Mike, but I have to wonder why this kit keeps getting good reviews?! It is a real stinker - just about everything about it is quite obviously a mess! You have done very well with the raw materials given.

I am definitley not giving it high marks on accurcay that is for sure however, I will say the kit is nicely moulded and seems to have escaped the Rosie the Riveter treatment and frankly the fit isn't too bad. The real issue I have are the glaring errors from the nose shape, lack of wing kink, nozzle shape, pylons being too short, wrong instrument panel and wrong weapons fit. Other than that the kit is fine smile.gif

Strakes look an incy wincy bit too far inboard to my eye.

Hideous problems aside, you do appear to be winning.

Well it has certainly been a while since my last update on this one. Between casting and prepping for the IPMS Nationals and getting ready for our upcoming move,

Cheers

Mike

What move??? You moving again??? What is it with you guys, you find a nice place where there are no Hurricanes, Tornado's, or Massive Walls of Mother Natures fury and your moving??

So before you pack it all up and move again how about selling to those of us "NOT GOING To The NATIONALS" a pre-sale?? evil_laugh.gif

I'm sure alot of folks would jump on the early bird stuff.

Anyway good luck with the Nats and the move.

Cheers

P.S. So you think they fixed any of the Harrier problems in time for the Gr.7/9 release???
Mike Reeves
OK, things have been progressing a little here an there lately. I have finally sprayed some paint on the big Harrier. The base coat is Dark Ghost Grey and the camo pattern that you can see a bit of on the nose is Medium Grey. This is all going over a Nato Black pre shade. I still have A long way to go pn the paint but at least it is getting there. This will be a well worn and very "used" Harrier.

ok to me it looks like a Harrier, but im no expert on this plane, but how can it have so many errors if they used real data and airfcraft? its not as if its the 60's.

BTW did the DDR disk arrive? hope they havent made big mistakes with the Mig23 and hopefully in the near future the SU22

I'm guessing the master makers never got their mitts (or rulers) on a real one. For something seemingly done by eye and the leading particulars, it could be worse.
I'm delighted that Trumpeter reacted to the reviews and sought feedback before releasing the GR versions. Let's hope that they were able to amend the tooling without adding too much more cost.

Nice to see the paint starting to flow btw Mike! speak_cool.gif

Thanks Skii,

It is still very early in the paint process and still needs another color on it. It looks pretty ugly at the moment but I didnt want people to think it wasnt being worked on. smile.gif

Well here it is with the basic base colors on. The medium grey still needs some filling in but I wanted to get a base camo on. The paint was super thin and did not give great coverage but is allowing me to get a feel for the look that I am after. I also noticed I forgot to do the medium grey on the underside of the horizontal stabs. I will take care of that when I fill in the rest of the camo. Paint used was Model master enamel as I am just not happy with clogged tips from acrylics in my airbrush. I also find enamels to be much more durable and easier to manipulate. Tonight I will fill in the rest of the paint completely then wil give it a good rub down with micromesh to blend it and smooth it in preparation for the clear coat, decals and weathering. There is a method to my madness in the way I am going about painting it as I really want it to be beat up. Hope you like it so far. Oh and yes, I do know that one of the intakes on top of the LERX is missing. It fell off last night while I was manuevering the model around. I will get it back on tonight. smile.gif
