As you browse the news sites on the internet, no doubt you will have stumbled upon stories that are either wierd, unbelievable or just plain stupid.

I therefore propose to use this thread for members to post such stories. Let's see if it has legs.

The rules are simple:http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?act=post&do=edit_post&f=37&t=45658&p=484393&st=0#

1. it must be from a recognised news website - tv/newspaper and the like.
2. as proof you must post a link
3. no stories involving violence, deaths etc
5. the wierder, more unbelievable or stupid the better
6. post one per day

Here's mine as an example

Over to you............

I can't provide links, and I know some of these will break the no-death rule, but here are some beauties that I've seen.

Nottingham Post
"Man goes to London"
"Woman falls over"

Northampton Chronicle
"Suicide pact ends in tragedy"

Southampton Echo
"Man dies in mower horror"
"Woman killed by weekly wash"

Reading the reports, it seems as though the problem is that 15,000 people are trying to get in to a site that can take only 5,000. This blocks ambulance access and, should there be a bigger emergency, would make evacuation tricky. Not sure we can so blithely dismiss it as "elf n safety". I know what a crowd of 15,000 people in a confined space is like and I don't fancy trying to fit that same crowd into a space a third of the size.

Phil - post deleted. You may want to delete the link in your quote?

instead I offer this - not really sure what to make about this one?

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/03/18/us/18bobble.html?hp

I was going to offer a video on chess boxing but that would have broken my no violence rule (chess is an evil violent activity after all).

Talking of headlines that you can't find, some journo's from The Times surrepticiously had a competition for the most boring title. Two that I recall were, "Small Earthquake in [can't remember where] Not Many Hurt" and my personal favourite, "Fog in English Channel - Continent Cut Off".

Now that is amazing. The old adage about gaming never produced anything is not 100 percent true anymore.
