Any comments on this kit would be appreciated. Thanks.

Old, rivetty and underscale.

The Academy kit is far better

I built one about a year ago, using parts from these 2 incomplete kits:

Fairly typical mid-period Airfix, plenty of rivets and the perforations in the dive brakes are moulded as raised circled:

It was designed with folding wings as an option but there's no detail at all in the wing fold:

The only place I found a problem with fit was at the rear of the wing centre section, as shown here:

You get a good selection of weapons and the kit builds up nicely but you can't really display it with the gunner's canopy open and, as Dave says, it's not exactly state of the art.

I enjoyed building it in the Late 60's.
Can't say I'd bother now.

As others have said, it's a bit old and rivity but fine for a bit of non 'AMS' weekend fun....

Cheers!

Just thought I would ask about it, because I have never had it and saw it 'highlighted' as a new boxing on the Airfix website.

Bought one last year on eBay to reproduce the blue one with orange band as I had built as a kid.

Building got stalled when I noticed the landing gear well should actually end some 4/5mm outboard. Still trying to figure out how or if I will correct it.

Just a nostalgia build on my part. If you want an accurate one, go for the Academy kit.

Cheers,

Jorge.
