Many of you may have heard of Operation Flashpoint the most challenging and realistic military sim ever made. It was so good in fact that many countries adopted it to train thier military in tactics. Well it was along time in the making but finally we have a replacement in the form of Armed Assault. Its really Operation Flashpiont 2 but they couldn't call it that due to legal reasons.

Anyway hers a few sceenshots from the game. Every vehicle you see is completely flyable, drivable, boatable, shootable and blowupable. And these pics don't cover half of those available. It really is a crcking game. But the down side is you really do need a hi spec ric to run it. I'm running a AMD 64 X2 Dual Core 3800+ processor.MSI K9N Platinum motherboard. 2 gig ram. Nvidia 1gig 7950 GTX.Track IR 4 pro with VE & Track Clip Pro. TM Cougar Hotas and it drags my system to its knees in places.

These shots are completely unedited and are direct screenshots from the game. Pretty cool eh.

UH 60 low and fast with Blackhawk as top cover.

Low and fast over the city.

A strange choice for the game but sure adds to the fun.

The Red forces are well represented.

The devastating Ka-50.

Nothing like a bit of VSTOL.

Moody looking Abrams and friend.

You can also play it on line which is a complete blast.

Sorry Cop, but I got the Czech version and its tainted my tastes and opinions a little. Utterly buggy, horrible performance and nigh-on ZERO improvement from the original (except graphics). Same animations, same horrible 'death/destroyed' models and utterly miserable effects when you blow up buildings. Aswell as ridiculously horrible helicopter flight models (apparently fixed in a patch).

Perhaps my taste for 'realistic' games has declined a bit (I much prefer the more 'fun' games like Battlefield 2 and Counter Strike) and I've found myself on my Xbox more than my PC, but I just found this game a chore to play.

Plus, it wont look anything like those screens if you don't spend atleast £500 on a new graphics card, motherboard and CPU.

This has multiplayer ... right? EDIT ... Just noticed your comment at the bottom, is this on their own servers or gamespy or whatever?

I enjoyed Flashpoint and heard something about a sequel, never realised it was this though, used to play a lot of the Rainbow 6 games on line as well.

My machine should handle this, Core 2 Duo E6600 overclocked, ATI X1950 512mb etc.

PS Cop, have a TM Cougar too smile.gif

Sorry to hear that Jake but you should try the patch for it. Apparently it sorts out a lot of the problems with the Czech version. The heli side of things is much improved. Some modder added the Hind yesterday, which is fantastic. Opening cargo doors to deposit troops, retractable undercarriage, the lot. And your quite right I did spend over £500 on my CPU, motherboard and Vid card. Close to £700 actually.

The patch for the Czech version is over 460mb, so it deals with quite a lot. Heres a link to it. AA patch.

Hunter online you play on BIS dedicated server. Not had any problems yet. Your rig should run it fine. But don't expect FPS to be sky high though. Cougars are the mutts nuts aren't they?

Thanks, I'll order this from play or similar.

Will be buying a Nvidea 8800GTX or possibly the new ATI R600 if it proves to be good in the next couple of months, that should help a fair bit.

Good to hear that Cop. I'll definately give it another go as most people I've spoken to have all said the same thing, the Czech version was very buggy and half finished at release and that patches have helped.
