Whilst a couple of other builds are setting/drying and following my successful venture into the world on 1:72 with the airocobra. I thought I would throw build this one up for tables at Telford.



I have a feeling that this one won't take long!

It's not a difficult kit by any means I reckon I could finish it in 24 hours if I wanted.

Well it needs a little filler....

This is looking very nice so far. I nearly brought one of these today to build.

This mornings work, sanded down the joins and put a little paint on them to make sure they won't show.

Nothing like relaxing with a simple OOB build.

Yep the one I got from you Steve, very simple and relaxing, good for honing techniques on.

Started the decaling this afternoon, Typical airfix, very thick! But going on well.

Starting to look nice now. Did you think of painting the stripes on?

I did but it went so wrong last time I tried it

What happened?

Masked up the wrong dimensions and then the paint got under the tape

That always happens to me. But if I try using decals then:

1. The white is never properly opaque.
2. They never fit properly.

Try spraying the stripes before the camouflage: since there's no dark colour underneath, the white is quite shiny, and if you got camouflage colour running under the tape protecting the stripes, it looks like the stripe colour is peeling off, adding some realism.

Paul, with this one, even though the film is quite thick with repeated coats of microsol the film is showing through the EDSG and i was surprised the decals do fit plus they give you a bit of spare!

Got up early this morning and did a little more decaling before going out for the day.

Im really pleased with the way this ones coming along.
