Okay people, today's word is:

Wolverine

Wolverine is a fictional superhero who appears in comic books published by Marvel Comics.

Born James Howlett and commonly known as Logan, Wolverine is a mutant, possessing animal-keen senses, enhanced physical capabilities, retracting bone claws, and a healing factor that allows him to quickly recover from virtually any wound, disease or toxin, also enabling him to live beyond a normal human lifespan. This healing ability enabled the supersoldier program Weapon X to bond the near indestructible metal alloy adamantium to his skeleton and claws without killing him. Wolverine was typical of the many tough anti-authority anti-heroes that emerged in American popular culture after the Vietnam War;his willingness to use deadly force and his brooding nature became standard characteristics for comic book anti-heroes by the end of the 1980s. As a result, the character became the clear favorite for fans of the increasingly popular X-Men franchise. Wolverine has been featured in his own solo comic since 1988 and has been a central character in every X-Men adaptation, including animated television series, video games, and the live-action 20th Century Fox X-Men film series, in which he is portrayed by Hugh Jackman.

Available in Model form from Horizon Models, I Did this one a few years ago now;

Other Wolverines are;

Wolvereine-Overdose a Swedish doom metal band! http://www.wolverine-overdose.com/news.php

The M-10 Tank destroyer was named the "Wolverine" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M10_tank_destroyer

Also for fans of cheesy 80's films, Wolverines was the local football team in "Red Dawn"

Wolverine's real, and the films are documentaries.

And 'Red Dawn' rocks! I know it's cheesy, and gung-ho, and all that, but it's still good. John Milius is an under-rated genius!

Okay peeps, today's word is:

gumby

I agree on Red Dawn, I love it! cheesey or not!

Gumby is a green clay humanoid figure who was the subject of a 233-episode series of American television which spanned over a 35-year period. He was animated using stop motion clay animation.

Hence why John James Belushi calls Big Arnold Gumby in Red Heat, another great film!

Julien
Obi-Jiff Kenobi
I never knew about that Gumby. Cool!

Just a minor point, though - it was James Belushi, as John was dead by the time Red Heat was made.

A hand held (usually) cannon that fires shells and makes a big mess of tanks. biggrin.gif
Julien
Bazooka Joe is a comic strip character, featured on small comics included inside individually-wrapped pieces of Bazooka bubblegum. He wears a black eyepatch, lending him a distinctive appearance.

Remember bazooka bubble gum?

or; The bazooka is a brasswind musical instrument which is several feet in length and incorporates telescopic tubing like the trombone. Often, bazookas are very simply constructed with scavenged materials like pipes and funnels. From its start within a lipreed mouthpiece which may be handmade or borrowed from another low brass instrument, the air column rapidly expands into a wider length of pipe which slides freely around a narrower length of pipe which itself terminates in a widely flaring bell. Hence where the M9 series of anti tank weapons got its name from!

Klingons are a warrior race in the fictional Star Trek universe. They are recurring villains in the 1960s television show Star Trek: The Original Series, and have appeared in all five spin-off series and seven feature films. Initially intended to be swarthy antagonists for the crew of the USS Enterprise, the Klingons ended up a close ally of humanity and the United Federation of Planets in later television series.

No one told me it was Fictonal! I thought it was a documentary!

All things Klingon can be found at the Klingon Language Institute I kid you not!
