This time it`s a change of eras.I`ve decided to build a vessel from the 1st World War,the Flagship of the German High Seas Fleet, the SMS Konig. This class of ship was built as an answer to the Royal Navy`s Queen Elizabeth class,of super-Dreadnoughts,although the Germans didn`t know that the QE`s were armed with 15" guns, and had a top speed of 25 knots.the Konig and her three sisters were armed with 10 x 12" guns and had a speed of 21knots.They were,as usual with German capital ships, very tough vessels, capable of taking massive punishment.Konig ,herself was hit by ten heavy shells during the Battle of Jutland, neither her speed or firepower was effected.
The ICM kit has been in my stash for many years, and I`d already put the hull halves together,I`ve cleaned up the hull, and now it`s ready for priming, also a start has been made on the base.

Very interesting Phil.
I’ve got the ICM Großer Kurfürst in the build pile, I was going to wait ‘till I’ve got a few more ships under my belt before I had a crack at it.

I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on this build of yours. Good luck with it mate. thumbsup2.gif

I`m having a bit of a job getting started with this one,but I`ll stick at it(for the moment).I`ve painted the hull, and deck. the deck was airbrushed with 3 different shades of tan ,when dry I used two felt-tipped pens(brown and yellow) to give the effect of a wooden deck,I then blended in the the pen lines with a dampen cotton bud. It`s better than a bland overall colour.Don`t know wether I`ll continue with this one.it`s a bit of an anti-climax,after scratch-building. Bye Phil

That's a great start Phil, I like your technique for painting the deck. You've got to keep going!

Don't give up on it Phil, but does beg the question, if this is an anti climax what on earth is next eh?

Cheers now
