Hello,

I haven't built a Tomcat yet! So now is as good a time as any. I'm not very good at jets. I always get worked up near the end of the build when the multitude of stencils, landing gear struts, vanes and bits and bobs seams never ending. So this should pose a good challenge for me.

Quite why I have made life difficult for myself by buying the Black Box cockpit. I dunno mental.gif

At least the cockpit will be accurate. I have also purchased the Dr Pepper resin General Electric nozzles for my A kit to turn it into an A+ or B as they are now called.

I will make a start tonight. Lets see if I can break myself pray.gif

*Sings* Highway to tha dangerzooone!

Cheers

Bandwagon 106
The base kit Tim is using (F-14A Tophatters) is the first one I have on the go.
Take your time with this one Tim, it can be a little frustrating at times, but the end result is a very good model. Good luck with the cockpit, there are some very nice details in there.

Got a little done today. Major surgery to get the cockpit to fit. Only a few hiccups along the way. One of these hiccups included me stabbing myself in the end of the finger with my scalpel (idiot) Apart from that, it went pretty well...Here are the pics:

Nothing is glued in yet. I'll paint it next and sort the side panels out.

I glued the Tub in. The sidewalls were trimed and slotted in afterwards.

Nothing else is glued in yet. While I mess about with other stuff I will put the other cockpit parts somewhere safe.
A quick dry fit:

and I'm happy.

That 'pit looks incredible Tim, really top job thumbsup.gif
Tim B
Thanks....

Drama!

I got to the bit where you marry the back to the front and the join was horrible. So I spent ages dry fitting, squeezing and wiggling. Forgetting how thin and brittle the plastic is around the cockpit frantic.gif . 2 big cracks either side bur2.gif . After putting it down for a bit (etc.) I decided to put shed loads of gap filling CA glue on the inside and run some liquid poly about too....the rejoin wasn't great and i had to sand off a lot of detail. But! it's all rescribed and reriveted now...crisis averted rolleyes.gif

Cheers

Smart work on the "bario wagon"! I like the way your cockpit came together!
