Blimey, you're not messing about with this one Mish laugh.gif Very swift progress, that cockpit looks very nice indeed smile.gif

Being a big fan of the Crusader, I'll be watching this one with added interest popcorn.gif

Interested to know what the kit is like. Good start by the way.

Hi Mish

off to a flying start!

love the Crusader. Must get one some time.

are those state of the art pink and blue parts holders or the things you stick between your toes to paint nails
i love the ways in which modellers find new and imaginative use for household items.

I believe it's the old Monogram kit Nick. Raided panel lines sad.gif

Spot on Walrus, there is always some in cheap nail care kits that I pilfer the sanding boards from.

Hi Mish,

Great work so far, I love the Monogram Crusader. the kit is good OOB, there are a couple of faults in the basic kit though, the ejection seat provided is a MB GRU-7 as used in the Tomcat, it is the wrong type for a Crusader which originally had a MB Mk. F5 seat although some were later fitted with a Mk. F7 seat, the seat from a Phantom looks a closer match than the Tomcat seat.

Also the main undercarriage legs are set at the wrong angle resulting in the finished kit sitting too low at the rear when built, Aeroclub do a correction set to cure this or you can just shorten the lower oleo and bend the upper oleo down to raise the rear fuselage off the deck.

Having said that the kit looks good out of the box even without the corrections.

Keep the photo's coming.

Jez I thought I built quick. Nice work. looks really nice so far

I used to have one of these before steping up to 1/32 only, so Now I'd like to get a trumpeter one in the stash

Seems a bit easier build for you, than the Sea Harrier.

Dave
Mish
Thanks Dave, I'm enjoying the build the SHAR has turned out to be a bit of a disappointment .
Mish
All masked up, preshaded and ready for spraying. Just got to put on and mask the cockpit.
Stebos
Looking forward to seeing this one with some paint on!

Crumbs you're fast! Takes me two weeks just to open the box and look at the sprues smile.gif

Mish,

Looking good. Have you got a correction set for the main gear as it sits too low otherwise. Not too noticable but also kind of noticable.

If you have not shoot me a PM as I have a few spares.

I haven't Julian and I've cemented the U/C legs in now sad.gif they're not coming out in a hurry as it's a one piece part.
Julien
There is a way round this, PM inbound.

Top surface grey airbrushed on today.
Mish
Finally got around to doing a little more on this one tonight. I've 'touched' up the grey and applied a little post shading and tried to give it that work look. No pics as the lighting washes out the subtle shading.
Mish
Got a bit more done this morning. All the underside is sprayed white and the tailpipe has been sprayed up with Citadel Boltgun and I've attempted to add some heat discolouration bands.

Mish
Painting all finished and a coat of Klear/Future on ready for decaling tomorrow.

Stephen
Very nice Mish,

lovely job so far Mish, good to see you've got her back on the bench smile.gif
Mish
Only half a days work today. Got the most of the underside, top and port side decaled. Decals are nice and thing but it has taken quite a few coats of Microsol to get them to conform over the raised panel lines and detail.

Hiya Mish, Phwoar! nice 'Sader there - . Looking forward to seeing the beast all finished. Great modelling so far!!

Thats a nice build Mish.
If you cut and extend the struts on the main undercarriage, you can get rid of the tail heavy sag.
Its what I did with mine after an article came out in some modelling mag years ago.
If you dont do it ,it still looks good...just a bit heavy on fuel.

No critisism offered or intended smile.gif

Gorgeous Mish!

Mish
Thanks for all your comments.
Got a couple of hours done today, so all the decals are done. Later when they have settled I will give it a coat of Klear ready for weathering with Promodeller wash tomorrow.

Mish
Well it's finished but not without a couple of mini disasters. First my rough spraying with the grey made it real hard to take the wash off. Then the AeroMaster decals started falling off! They are very thin and even protected by a couple of coats of Klear/Future a couple came off and one ripped! Luckily I had one spare but there is one major decal missing so I will have to be careful how I take the final photos. I'm not even sure if I will enter it into the GB as it's not that good and not upto my best standard.
Wash on

And finished

Nice one Mish.
