Well couldn't resist it ..so I bought a Fujimi Ferrari 330 kit
Soon as Hiroboy deliver it I'll post some pictures analintruder.gif
Obi-Jiff Kenobi
Top choice Sean, the 330P4 is easily the most beautiful sports racing car EVER. And if anyone disagrees, fight.gif winkgrin.gif
seanrgb
Yep got to agree
Skii and I were looking at one of these kits at the Expo.. I think it was 15 quid and a Hasewaga kit
Wen't back to buy it the next day it had gone

So got one off Hiroboy

Smiffy
Ahhh, that was the Ferrari you were talking about at the show. Very nice choice, sah. cool.gif

Weren't you after a GT40 as well?. Graham at Relish has some in stock.

Funny you should say that ..I got one on order the Spa version ...which also has the Le Mans decals
So I think my Porsche will be on the back burner for now analintruder.gif

Nice one Sean,

You obviously know a drop-dead gorgeous car when you see one. I have a couple of Fujimi kits and a couple of old Union/Heller ones with full engine and rear suspension. One day, one day...

BTW, anyone know why Fujimi never made a 330P4 Spyder from their kit? THATS the best looking car ever right Jeff? Some sprues are marked P4 Berlinetta and some just P4. Clearly they allowed for the common parts but the Spyder never happened. Who do I have to see about this one? pray.gif

Phil
Obi-Jiff Kenobi
Well, the P4 is the best looking car, the P4 Spyder is the best looking version of it. As for the lack of a Fujimi Spyder, we can only hope that one day they see the light. In the meantime, there's an all-resin Spyder available - in 1/12. You don't want to know the price...

Hmm, 1/12th P4 Spyder vs a house to put it in... Hey, at least I had to think about it!

Phil.

Gentlemen please! Lets not lose sight of the issue at hand here...

Quick Sean, get building while I keep 'em quiet! wink.gif

seanrgb
Right I'm starting on this one first analintruder.gif
seanrgb
Ok a quickie question on this car ..Where they made of Steel or aluminium
according to the instructions it says the floorpan suspension parts are silver ..so i'm guessing this being a 60's car this would be made of steel

cheers sean analintruder.gif
Ian
I'd try either Xtracolour Duralumin for a warm darker aluminium tone, Tamiya Aluminium - straight from the rattle-can is fine - for a true smooth aluminium tone or if you want a really faded white-aluminium tone, go for good old Humbrol Matt Aluminium MetalCote. Just my 2c.gif

I'm not going to add to 'Beauty' argument..... but 917's & GT40's are/were achingly beautiful from certain angles, whereas the P3/P4 are sexy from all angles - IMHO.

Ian

BTW - Sean, Rennaissance do detail sets and alternative decals if you want to go the 'detailing' route !
seanrgb
Ah Cheers Ian
for that info ..I'll think I'll give the detail set a miss looks like too much work for me
Plus the fact I'm a lazy and tight sod analintruder.gif

Sean, try this site:

http://www.supercars.net/cars/556.html

Lots of nice P4 pictures, and according to the sidebar the real cars were made of an aluminium body over a tubular steel chassis. HTH
seanrgb
Well guys at last some pictures
Due to doing shows .. also working with Mike on the Britmodeller IPMS stuff ..I've been a little busy
But I have been doing bits here and there

Don't worry Dave no Hammers are involved in this build analintruder.gif
seanrgb
Well more progress the running chassis is all complete analintruder.gif

Dont worry about the shabby looking exhaust pipes as you wont see them
Actually the only thing you will see is the spare wheel analintruder.gif

Ok on to the body work what a pain in the arse this was to do angrysoapbox.sml.gif
I first sprayed the entire shell Revell 99 Aluminium
I then sprayed the shell Revell 31 fiery red
Then after that I sprayed it Revell 34 Ferrari Red

Looked good except for one thing ..where I had sanded back to the white plastic the red looked all different shades
Also like a donkeys dick I forgot to spray the sills Aluminium
and sprayed Red straight onto those ...Result a Multi red coloured Ferrari

So I re-sprayed the whole lot Revell 99 , then Revell 31 and Finally Revell 34
sodding thing has taken me on and off 2 weeks

Then I have it lots and lots of Johnsons Klear

Heres the result ( Ingore the silver on the lighting )

Next is the Decals and adding some PE Mesh here and there ..and all the glass and light lenses

Oh I may even weather this one to make it look like it has actually raced analintruder.gif
Tedfellows
Looking good that there Ferrari!!
Ian

He he, I've been toying with that idea on my GT40 as well (after I found some pics of her looking less than pristine after the race). I don't know if I've got brass ones big enough to risk ruining the paint job though.

Tell you what.......you try first. wicked.gif

Be a man do it I dare you ...Mind you though on the weathering front on one of these
I'm still unsure on the colour ..I'm thinking of using a heavy watered down Tammy Nato black

I was thinking 'bout thinned Tamiya smoke.
Another option would be Phils dark wash. At least if it didn't work, I could clean it off. hmmm.gif
PHIL B
Nice one Sean,

Thats a very clean build.

The thing which gets me about the Fujimi kit is that with no engine detail, a very ordinary looking rolling chassis (that's the kit, not your rendition of it) is transformed by that body shell into the most beautiful of automotive shapes.

Hey! Maybe we persuade Trumpeter to kit it in 1/12th to go ith their GT40?
Keep going Sean.

Clean ummm not any more analintruder.gif
But I'd love a 1/12 version that would be pretty good

But on this kit I'm not too bothered about the engine ..once its in the shell you can't see it
But saying that I have to agree this was the sexiest looking Ferrari ever made
seanrgb
Anyway Just one picture for now ..As I still have a few odds and sods to do on this build
Looks like 24hrs has taken its toll on this car rofl.gif

Diesel Gypsy
That is amazing work Sean. you clever bu**er. speak_cool.gif

You've got the weathering spot on IMHO.
I dont have the spheroids to do full on weathering like that. Respect bow.gif Sean.

Brilliant.

Well what didn't I use would be easier ...
But heres the mix
Some tammy flat earth mixed with a bit of Nato Black and some tammy smoke
and of course some water

Then just go for it like mad analintruder.gif

Anyway Its all done heres some pics then off to Parc Ferme

Dr_Fester
Sean that turned out REALLY well. Weathering looks superb and conjures up the feel of a 24 hour race, rain, oil and grime especially in the 60's.

Great job. thumbsup.gif

Great finish Sean.
It sure looks like it just finished 24 hours at Le Mans.
Can't wait for the GT40 now.
How about a Porsche 917 after that to finish the GB cos you're building 'em so quickly?

Phil.
Mike
Nice one Sean - the weathering takes it from showroom "toylike" finish to something much more gritty & realistic.. thumbsup.gif
