I'm a bit late starting as I've been busy lately.

Anyway, I'm going to do the Revell 1.24 Dodge Intrepid R/T.

The first thing I need to do is have a tidy up of my workspace before I start building it...

Right, that's better. On with the build....................

Ponti
Nice workshop, wish I had 1 likw that but slightly bigger though.
Grant
Love the garage!

I built me one of them last year here and it looks the part.

I shall be following this with interest.

I expect to be back in the States later this year and thought I might pick up another one. So many to choose from...Bud, Miller, Jack Daniels... spot the theme yet?

cheers

Good choice on the build too. I think I've still got a Wetworks decal sheet for that one. Wonder if I've still got an Intrepid to put them on.... rolleyes.gif

Engine done!

It's a mixture of Matt, Satin and Gloss Black, plus H53 Aluminium, Xtracolor 'Corroguard' and Humbrol Polished Aluminium.

Nice! Great pic too!!

The floor pan is painted and just starting to fit the roll cage. The fit so far seems pretty good, but there are a few ejector marks that needed dealing with.

The bodyshell has been rattle canned with Vauxhall Starsilver, then a couple of coats of laquer. I'm not too concerned about the finish as most of it will be covered in decals. In a day or two the interior will need to be painted grey.

This is a great thread!! I really like the way that you're displaying the build - excellent stuff!!

That looks great with all the garage bits around.

Rear suspension is now fitted....

Also Mr Marlin has climbed in and the roll cage has been fitted around him. This was a fiddely fit with loads of locating pins and holes all over the place which took some lining up.

Next thing was to install the engine. It was hard work to get the headers (mainfolds) to match up with the exhaust system, but I got there in the end.

Meanwhile over in the bodyshop the paint and laquer has cured fully so I can make a start on the hundreds of decals. Carefull reading of the instructions was need as there is an order to put them on.

To be continued..................

That's looking a very nice build!

I love the way the shots of the build are taken with the garage parts around, fabulous idea! cool.gif

The rest of the engine is now complete (radiator and top hose, airfilter). The front subframe has also been bolted on.

The final part of the rolling chassis is too err, make it roll!

This is where the 'Pit Babes' came in to lend a hand and have their photo taken, just before the last wheel was fitted.

Really, really nice job BAC, looks brilliant!! Only trouble is I want to start mine now!

How did the kit decals go down - I've only used the kit sheet on one NASCAR model & they were horrible, really hard & brittle & they wouldn't respond at all to solvents - in the end a hair dryer & boiling water beat them into submission. But you've done a stunning looking job there, excellent build & the decalling looks tremendous!

Cracking stuff & a brilliant thread too !!

Thanks for the comments!

I thought doing the workshop thing would make the build a bit more interesting. Then I had the idea of cutting out the 'Pit Babes' from photos printed off the net.

Keef, the decals on this were very good indeed. They responded well to MicroSol -even around Sterlin's helmet (ooh err!), but it did take a few applications to get around the curves. Also once the roof '40' decal had dried I went around the roof spoilers with a scapel then added more MicroSol. The decal then settled perfectly into the spoiler grooves.

Cheers!

Hey, I came in expecting some more progress, but not seeing it finished! Bloody hell, that's some quick work.

The final product looks great, I'll have to get a finished builds thread started in the GB forum as I think you're the first one done!

Well done on the presentation of the build thread too, a really good idea and something a little different.

A big thumbs up! thumbsup2.gif
