  1. Listing the scale you are looking for might be helpful Doug
  2. I wanted to do a quick, no hassle build while still working on some other projects, so I chose this 1/35 Bronco V1 kit The build was very straightforward, and just required a little fit tweaking at the wingroots and on the engine insert that represents the air slats (the intake). I painted the bottom with RLM 76LichtBlau; the fuselage with RLM 83 DunkelGrun; and the wings/tailplanes with RLM 81 BraunViolet consistent with the sub-assembly nature of the V1's manufacturing, and to give it a more interesting look. Overall a nice easy build, and it looks pretty cool in the display case On to the photos: Thanks for looking! Comments/questions always welcome Doug
  3. Does anyone know the story with these different types of rudder posts (red circle) on some of these F4B-4's? Thanks! Doug
  4. John, Let's see some pics of your build!! PM me your address as I may be able to help you out Doug
  5. Great progress Dennis, I'll certainly be using your build as a reference when I build my Nate. Looking forward to more progress!! Doug
  6. Looks great! Are those the kit decals? Doug
  7. I've always liked (and used) Floquil Old Silver for Aluminium dope. Doug
  8. You may be able to get the decals off using some masking tape (at least it tends to pull mine up) or just do a localized repaint over the decals if necessary. No need for stripping, etc. If you have a line where the decals were after the localized repaint, then I would mask off that area, and use some 0000 steel wool to buff it until it is blended (might need more paint to get to get it blended to your statisfaction if the decals are thick), and then repaint that area again. I would then cut a half circle mask about the size of the national insignia (you should have spares having the kit and barracuda decals, correct?), and then use it to mask over the invasion stripes where the decal needs to go. Spray that area with some of the green as well, so that you don't have bleed through from different colors under the decals, and then apply your decals in the correct place. It should be a fairly easy job, if you lived closer, I'd invite you to bring it over and we could have a go. Doug
  9. This site has a profile: http://www.raf.mod.uk/history/bobno253sqn.cfm And another: http://www.clavework-graphics.co.uk/aircra...ne_mk1_029.html Then there is this painting: http://www.military-art.com/mall/more.php?ProdID=1501 Seems to be standard camo with standard codes, nothing out of the ordinary. Doug
  10. Looking good Dennis, I had to do the same (add spacers to widen the chord and sand off material on the mating surfaces) to the wing on the Special Hobby A5M4 Claude kit to get it to fit as well. Tailplanes on that kit were also a bit off as well. Looking forward to seeing more of your excellent work on this one, and will definately reference it when I build mine! Doug
  11. The 1/32 Eduard 109E series are decent enough kits, and build up to look very nice, as does the CyberHobby kit. Having built both, I can assure you both have their issues, and I cannot find one significantly better than the other. To me, the difference between the kits is like comparing Hasegawa (Eduard) to Tamiya (CyberHobby) kits in 1/48. Better, more restained surface detail on the Eduard kit versus the more robust detail of the CyberHobby kit: Doug
  12. I've not seen 56 Squadron Gladiators with checkers on the top wing, however, I would certainly build one that way were you to provide the decals to do so! Quick search shows Gauntlets with checks on the top wing, and I did turn up a photo that is supposed to be 56 Squadron Gauntlets without checks on the top wings as well. As most other Gladiator squadrons that had squadron markings had them on the top wing as well as the fuselage, there is the possibility that 56 squadron did as well. I'll try to do a more thorough search of my print references to see if I can turn anything more conclusive up. Doug
  13. Looks like you're doing quite well to me Graham! Here is a link to another build of the kit, perhaps you can PM David (the builder) to get some advice: David's Finished Woodcock Doug
  14. Ve vish yous zee luck! Looking forward to seeing you tackle this one Jonners, should be a fun build! Cheers, Doug
