  1. This is the Osprey - large difference with the page count, so the Specialty Press title looks to be vastly expanded. Thanks for making me aware of yet another book I don't have πŸ˜‰
  2. Was that the US (Motorbooks?) title? The Osprey series in the UK was "Production Line to Front Line", but I think stopped after only four produced, which is a pity, as they mostly included pin-sharp professional documentary shots. If that Michael O'Leary were the same person as a certain **well known** person, I'd be inclined to say "oh - he's done something useful in his lifetime" πŸ™‚
  3. The 22/24 and Seafire 46/7 are airframewise very similar to my understanding, and the 47 would require a gearbox I think - could that have any meaning in this discussion?
  4. @Stephen Allen - apologies I have noticed this thread only when you have her buttoned up mostly. I have the Pilot's Notes, and they have good cockpit pics (no more help for you, I know...), plus a schematic (only) for the Observer - the only thing it really shows is a swivelling "armchair" for him, and this was done pretty well IIRC in the good old Vista kit. So if you'd like a pic, drop a line. Someone upthread asked for the resin parts in the SH, I think? I have a couple, and I do think (***think***) I know where they hide.
  5. Thanks, that passed me by... my first daughter was born in August 11, so I am excused πŸ˜‰
  6. Not sure if I'm fit to insert a screenshot from Earth... There is a section of taxiway (?) going almost East/west, connecting the main runways, like the horizontal bar of an A. Between the runways there's a round "pan", as well as on its Eastern end. If you go to the road outside the fence, 45Β° up from that pan, the view NNE is pretty similar to the background of the pic - I think.
  7. Hessen-Kassel sent a large contingent of troops to the American Revolutionary War ("Sleepy Hollow"). I also thought of Henschel, but as far as I'm aware, they did not really continue aircraft production post-war.
  8. I'd have said the camera is pointing NNE - if going to Street View on Allington Track almost exactly NE of the easternmost "pan", I think I can spot the hill with the slightly steeper slope on the left and the group of trees on the right. May the pic have actually been taken on that circular pan, I wonder?
  9. That would usually apply to any Junkers type, and Junkers also would tally with the first clue - somewhat, as he built planes before engaging in air transportation. But I do not see any connection of either Dessau or Rheydt to England. Or the 2516 twin engined fighters in licence, which rules out anything French and Italian (I think), and I don't think the P-38 as the only mass-produced US twin was licence built.
  10. Not sure what the lower wing chord is, but I'd guess something in the region of 1,200 to 1,500 mm (just measure the Hart drawings in the MMP book, they are 20.5 mm @ 1/72). 30" is almost exactly 750 mm, and as the serials are around half the chord, I'd go with 30". Don't worry, I did just that on a Canberra on one of the final Eggebeck air days... If I could only recall where I put those sketches...
  11. Have they become Royal again? I thought the complete Canadian defence forces were integrated and styled Canadian Armed Forces/Forces ArmΓ©es Canadiennes in 1968 or thereabouts.
  12. Duncan - were the muzzle doors present on the earliest production machines, or deleted before production started? The A is somewhat underrepresented not only in plastic but also in paper; my WarbirdTech is out of reach ATM.
